GPI Spectra of HR 8799 c, d, and e from 1.5 To 2.4 μm with KLIP Forward Modeling
We explore KLIP forward modeling spectral extraction on Gemini Planet Imager coronagraphic data of HR 8799, using PyKLIP, and show algorithm stability with varying KLIP parameters. We report new and re-reduced spectrophotometry of HR 8799 c, d, and e in the H and K bands. We discuss a strategy for choosing optimal KLIP PSF subtraction parameters by injecting simulated sources and recovering them over a range of parameters. The K1/K2 spectra for HR 8799 c and d are similar to previously published results from the same data set. We also present a K-band spectrum of HR 8799 e for the first time and show that our H-band spectra agree well with previously published spectra from the VLT/SPHERE instrument. We show that HR 8799 c and d show significant differences in their H and K spectra, but do not find any conclusive differences between d and e, nor between c and e, likely due to large error bars in the recovered spectrum of e. Compared to M-, L-, and T-type field brown dwarfs, all three planets are most consistent with mid- and late-L spectral types. All objects are consistent with low gravity, but a lack of standard spectra for low gravity limit the ability to fit the best spectral type. We discuss how dedicated modeling efforts can better fit HR 8799 planets\u27 near-IR flux, as well as how differences between the properties of these planets can be further explored
Dalitz plot analyses of B-0 -> (D-DK+)-K-0 and B+-> (D)over-bar(-)D(0)K(+) decays
We present Dalitz plot analyses for the decays of B mesons to (D-DK+)-K-0 and (D) over bar (DK+)-D-0-K-0. We report the observation of the D*(s1)(2700)(+) resonance in these two channels and obtain measurements of the mass M(D*(s1)(2700)(+)) = 2699(-7)(+14) MeV/c(2) and of the width Gamma(D*(s1)(2700)(+)) = 127(-19)(+24) MeV, including statistical and systematic uncertainties. In addition, we observe an enhancement in the (DK+)-K-0 invariant mass around 2350-2500 MeV/c(2) in both decays B-0 -> (D-DK+)-K-0 and B+ -> (D) over bar (DK+)-D-0-K-0, which we are not able to interpret. The results are based on 429 fb(-1) of data containing 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
Measurements of branching fraction ratios and CP-asymmetries in suppressed B^-→D(→K^+π^-)K- and B^-→D(→K^+π^-)π^- decays
8 pages, 1 figure, submitted to Phys.Rev.D Rapid CommunicationsWe report the first reconstruction in hadron collisions of the suppressed decays B-→D(→K+π-)K- and B-→D(→K+π-)π-, sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase γ, using data from 7fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. We reconstruct a signal for the B-→D(→K+π-)K- suppressed mode with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations, and measure the ratios of the suppressed to favored branching fractions R(K)=[22.0±8.6(stat)±2.6(syst)]×10-3, R+(K)=[42.6±13.7(stat)±2.8(syst)]×10-3, R-(K)=[3.8±10.3(stat)±2.7(syst)]×10-3 as well as the direct CP-violating asymmetry A(K)=-0.82±0.44(stat)±0.09(syst) of this mode. Corresponding quantities for B-→D(→K+π-)π- decay are also reported

Measurement of D-0-(D)over-bar(0) mixing using the ratio of lifetimes for the decays D-0 -> K-pi(+) and K+K-
We measure the rate of D-0-(D) over bar0 mixing with the observable y(CP) = (tau(K pi)/tau(KK)) - 1, where tau(KK) and tau(K pi) are, respectively, the mean lifetimes of CP-even D-0 -> K+K- and CP-mixed D-0 -> K-pi(+) decays, using a data sample of 384 fb(-1) collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory. From a sample of D-0 and (D) over bar0 decays where the initial flavor of the decaying meson is not determined, we obtain y(CP) = [1.12 +/- 0.26(stat) +/- 0.22(syst)]%, which excludes the no-mixing hypothesis at 3.3 sigma, including both statistical and systematic uncertainties. This result is in good agreement with a previous BABAR measurement of y(CP) obtained from a sample of D*(+) -> D-0 pi(+) events, where the D-0 rho decays to K-pi(+), K+K-, and pi(+)pi(-), which is disjoint with the untagged D-0 events used here. Combining the two results taking into account statistical and systematic uncertainties, where the systematic uncertainties are assumed to be 100% correlated, we find y(CP) = [1.16 +/- 0.22(stat) +/- 0.18(syst)]%, which excludes the no-mixing hypothesis at 4.1 sigma
Measurement of CP asymmetry in D-0 -> K- K+ and D-0 -> pi(-) pi(+) decays
Time-integrated CP asymmetries in D 0 decays to the final states K - K + and π - π + are measured using proton-proton collisions corresponding to 3fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV. The D 0 mesons are produced in semileptonic b-hadron decays, where the charge of the accompanying muon is used to determine the initial flavour of the charm meson. The difference in CP asymmetries between the two final states is measured to be Δ ACP = ACP (K- K +) ACP (π- π+) = (+ 0.14 ± 0.16 (stat) ± 0.08 (syst)) %. A measurement of A CP (K - K +) is obtained assuming negligible CP violation in charm mixing and in Cabibbo-favoured D decays. It is found to be ACP (K- K+) = (- 0.06 ± 0.15 (stat) ± 0.10 (syst)) %, where the correlation coefficient between ΔA CP and A CP (K - K +) is ρ = 0.28. By combining these results, the CP asymmetry in the D 0 → π - π + channel is A CP (π - π +) = (-0.20 ± 0.19 (stat) ± 0.10 (syst))%. [Figure not available: see fulltext.] © 2014 The Author(s)
Measurement of CP observables in B0 → DK ∗0 with D →K+ K−
The decay B 0 → DK *0 and the charge conjugate mode are studied using 1.0 fb−1 of pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at s√=7 TeV in 2011. The CP asymmetry between the B 0 → DK *0 and the B−−0→DK−−∗0 decay rates, with the neutral D meson in the CP-even final state K + K −, is found to be AKKd=−0.45±0.23±0.02, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, favoured B 0 → DK *0 decays are reconstructed with the D meson in the non-CP eigenstate K +π−. The ratio of the B-flavour averaged decay rates in D decays to CP and non-CP eigenstates is measured to be RKKd=1.36+0.37−0.32±0.07, where the ratio of the branching fractions of D 0 → K −π+ to D 0 → K + K − decays is included as multiplicative factor. The CP asymmetries measured with two control channels, the favoured B 0 → DK *0 decay with D → K +π− and the B−−0s→DK∗0 decay with D→K + K −, are also reported
