Measurements of the inclusive W and Z boson production cross sections and their ratios in proton-proton collisions at s=13.6\sqrt{s}=13.6 TeV

    No full text
Measurements are presented of the W and Z boson production cross sections in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13.6 TeV. Data collected in 2022 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.01 fb−1 with one or two identified muons in the final state are analyzed. The results for the products of total inclusive cross sections and branching fractions for muonic decays of W and Z bosons are (acceptance) nb for W+ boson production, (acceptance) nb for W− boson production, and (acceptance) nb for the Z boson production in the dimuon mass range of 60–120 GeV, all with negligible statistical uncertainties. Furthermore, the corresponding fiducial cross sections, as well as cross section ratios for both fiducial and total phase space, are provided. The ratios include charge-separated results for W boson production (W+ and W−) and the sum of the two contributions (W±), each relative to the measured Z boson production cross section. Additionally, the ratio of the measured cross sections for W+ and W− boson production is reported. All measurements are in agreement with theoretical predictions, calculated at next-to-next-to-leading order accuracy in quantum chromodynamics

The Hypocrisy of Signs : Inner Spaces, Language and Action in the Age of Early Modern Inquisitions

    No full text
This book explores the tensions between text and speech, intention and action, individual conscience and the public sphere in the early modern period. It reclaims the hermeneutical foundation of hypocrisy as a key tool for assessing the gap between interiority and exteriority, which underpins these dyads. Secular and religious authorities of the time led unprecedented repressive campaigns that brought those tensions fully into view. Analyzing them offers new perspectives on the quandaries concerning action that arose at the threshold of modernity, as well as on the ways human behavior continues to be interpreted today

Inferring hypoxia-responsive regulators of cell fate in plant meristems through single-cell transcriptomics

Single-cell sequencing (scRNA-seq) is transforming our ability to dissect cell type-specific gene regulatory networks underlying developmental processes and cellular differentiation with unprecedented resolution. By leveraging single-cell transcriptomes of Arabidopsis thaliana shoot and root apical meristems, we aimed to dissect the complex spatiotemporal interplay between stem cell identity and hypoxia. Single-cell transcriptomic profiling demonstrated a substantial overlap between hypoxia-responsive gene expression and stem cell markers across shoot and root meristems. Trajectory inference coupled with RNA velocity revealed that hypoxia-related transcriptional signatures are enriched in undifferentiated stem cells and gradually decline as differentiation progresses, supporting a critical role for hypoxia in cell fate determination. Our findings suggest that the activation of hypoxia signaling may be a conserved feature in the shoot and root apical meristems of Arabidopsis thaliana and could play a crucial role in regulating stem cell fate decisions during development

Les Catholiques et leur Roi: Pierre Matthieu et la fin des guerres de religion (1585-1595)

    No full text

Distinct spatial distribution of potentiated dendritic spines in encoding- and recall-activated hippocampal neurons

Experimental advancements in neuroscience have identified cellular engrams—ensembles of neurons whose activation is necessary and sufficient for memory retrieval. Synaptic plasticity, including long-term potentiation, is fundamental to memory encoding and recall, but the relationship between learning-induced dendritic spine potentiation and neuron-wide activation remains unclear. In this study, we employed a post-synaptic translation-dependent reporter consistent with potentiation (SA-PSDΔVenus) and a neuronal activation reporter (ESARE-dTurquoise) to determine their spatiotemporal correlation in the mouse hippocampal CA1 following contextual fear conditioning (CFC). SA-PSDΔVenus+ spines were enriched in ESARE-dTurquoise+ neurons, with distribution varying across CA1 layers at different phases of memory: SA-PSDΔVenus+ were more frequent in activated neurons in stratum oriens and stratum lacunosum moleculare after CFC (encoding), while recall-activated neurons showed a larger number of SA-PSDΔVenus+ in the stratum radiatum. These findings demonstrate that the relative weight and spatial distribution of potentiated synaptic inputs to hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons change between the encoding and retrieval phases of memory

Dark walker in the early universe : a strongly coupled sector model

We explore the phenomenology of the “Dark Walker”—an SU(3) theory with eight flavors of massless fundamental fermions in the dark sector. During inflation, its walking dynamics generate primordial non-Gaussianities through the exchange of unparticles, while accounting for the current dark matter relic abundance if we consider freeze- in of Dark Walker coupled to the Standard Model through the Higgs portal. This provides a simple yet predictive example linking strongly coupled inflationary dynamics to present-day dark matter

    A model-independent measurement of the CKM angle gamma in the decays B^{\pm} \to [K+K-pi+pi-]Dh^{\om} and B^{\pm}-> [pi+pi-pi+pi-]Dh^{\pm} (h = K, \pi)

    No full text
A model-independent determination of the CKM angle γ is presented, using the B^{\pm} -> [K+K-pi+pi-]Dh^{\pm} and B^{\pm} \to [pi+pi-pi+pi-]Dh^{\pm} decays, with h = K, pi. This measurement is the first phase-space binned study of these decay modes, and uses a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb-1. The phase-space bins are optimised for sensitivity to gamma, and in each bin external inputs from the BESIII experiment are used to constrain the charm strong-phase parameters. The result of this binned analysis is gamma =53.9 -8.9 +9.5 degrees, where the uncertainty includes both statistical and systematic contributions. Furthermore, when combining with existing phase-space integrated measurements of the same decay modes, a value of gamma=52.6-6.4+8.5 degrees is obtained, which is one of the most precise determinations of gamma to date

Costanti e innovazioni nell'onomastica vercellese fra XIII e XV secolo

    No full text

Introduction: An Edible Lieu de Mémoire: Food, Memory and Oral History in Practice, in Culinary Chronicles: Oral Histories of Food Mobility and Belonging

    No full text
This edited volume brings together a collection of oral histories that explore how food carries memory across generations, geographies, and histories. Centered on interviews with elders, the chapters trace various journeys from Italy to Switzerland, Bulgaria to Turkey, and across regions of India, revealing how migration, war, gender roles, and political upheaval shape culinary practices. From antifascist pastasciutta to Maharashtrian home cooking, each contribution shows how recipes, kitchen spaces, and shared meals function as living archives of resilience and belonging. Blending scholarly insight with creative expression, the book positions food as both intimate memory and collective history, inviting readers to see their own family tables as sites of remembrance
