Forward & Off-Forward Parton Distributions From Lattice Qcd
The interpretation of (semi-)inclusive and certain exclusive scattering processes relies on the factorization of hard parton level cross sections from long-range and non-perturbative parton correlations. The familiar Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) and Generalized Parton Distributions quantify the non-perturbative dynamics in these situations and address a number of key questions surrounding the structure of hadrons. A certain class of matrix elements accessible in lattice QCD, so called Lattice Cross Sections, have been shown to factorize into these collinear distributions in a manner akin to the factorization of hadronic cross sections. In the short-distance regime, matrix elements of space-like separated two-current operators and parton bilinears can be expressed as the convolution of perturbative coefficient functions and the PDFs. Matrix elements of this type are isolated in the pion and nucleon, each offering a glimpse of the unpolarized valence quark content of these phenomenologically important hadronic states. The calculations within the nucleon represent the first application of the distillation spatial smearing paradigm to the collinear structure of hadrons, and is found to offer higher precision data compared to similar calculations in the literature. A novel method to obtain PDFs from these lattice data, while simultaneously controlling systematic effects, is developed and applied to the nucleon dataset. The coordinate space factorization of space-like separated parton bilinears has also recently been extended to include Generalized Parton Distributions. Parallelizations on products of spheres and octonionic geometry
A classical theoremof Kervaire states that products of spheres are parallelizable if and only if at least one of the factors has odd dimension. Two explicit parallelizations on Sm × S2h−1 seem to be quite natural, and have been previously studied by the first named author in [32]. The present paper is devoted to the three choices G = G2, Spin(7), Spin(9) of G-structures on Sm × S2h−1, respectively with m + 2h − 1 = 7, 8, 16 and related with octonionic geometry
Almost complex structures on spheres
In this paper we review the well-known fact that the only spheres admitting an almost complex structure are S2 and S6. The proof described here uses characteristic classes and the Bott periodicity theorem in topological K-theory. This paper originates from the talk “Almost Complex Structures on Spheres” given by the second author at the MAM1 workshop “(Non)-existence of complex structures on S6”, held in Marburg from March 27th to March 30th, 2017. It is a review paper, and as such no result is intended to be original. We tried to produce a clear, motivated and as much as possible self-contained exposition. © 2017 Elsevier B.V
Off-forward parton distribution
Recent developments in studying off-forward parton distributions are discussed. In this talk, the author discusses the recent developments in studying the off-forward parton distributions (OFPD`s). He has written a topical review article on the subject, which will soon be published in Journal of Physics G. The interested audience can consult that article for details. A second update on double parton distributions
AbstractWe present two equivalent consistency checks of the momentum sum rule for double parton distributions and show the importance of the inclusion of the so-called inhomogeneous term in order to preserve correct longitudinal momentum correlations. We further discuss in some detail the kinematics of the splitting at the basis of the inhomogeneous term and update the double parton distributions evolution equations at different virtualities

SGS-LTER standard met data: Cr21x station 12 - meteorological data on the Central Plains Experimental Range in Nunn, Colorado, USA 1986-2010, ARS study number 4
The Short Grass Steppe site encompasses a large portion of the Colorado Piedmont Section of the western Great Plains. The extent is defined as the boundaries of the Central Plains Experimental Range (CPER). The CPER has a single ownership and landuse (livestock grazing). The PNG is characterized by a mosaic of ownership and land use. Ownership includes federal, state or private and land use consists of livestock grazing or row-crops. There are NGO conservation groups that exert influence over the area, particularly on federal lands.This data package was produced by researchers working on the Shortgrass Steppe Long Term Ecological Research (SGS-LTER) Project, administered at Colorado State University. Long-term datasets and background information (proposals, reports, photographs, etc.) on the SGS-LTER project are contained in a comprehensive project collection within the Repository (http://hdl.handle.net/10217/100254). The data table and associated metadata document, which is generated in Ecological Metadata Language, may be available through other repositories serving the ecological research community and represent components of the larger SGS-LTER project collection. The objective of this study is to collect baseline meteorological data for the CPER. Measurement of the low-mass Drell-Yan differential cross section at √s = 7 TeV using the ATLAS detector
The differential cross section for the process Z/γ ∗ → ℓℓ (ℓ = e, μ) as a function of dilepton invariant mass is measured in pp collisions at s√ = 7 TeV at the LHC using the ATLAS detector. The measurement is performed in the e and μ channels for invariant masses between 26 GeV and 66 GeV using an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb−1 collected in 2011 and these measurements are combined. The analysis is extended to invariant masses as low as 12 GeV in the muon channel using 35 pb−1 of data collected in 2010. The cross sections are determined within fiducial acceptance regions and corrections to extrapolate the measurements to the full kinematic range are provided. Next-to-next-to-leading-order QCD predictions provide a significantly better description of the results than next-to-leading-order QCD calculations, unless the latter are matched to a parton shower calculation
