The analysis of language skills classification in the EFL textbook “Bright An English” using Paul Nation’s four strands theory
In the field of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), the development of balanced language skills remains a pressing concern, particularly in instructional materials used in formal education, especially textbooks. This study focuses on the analysis of the classification of language skills in the EFL textbook BRIGHT: An English Course for SMP/MTs Grade VII Phase D by Nur Zaida. Paul Nation’s Four Strands serves as the theoretical foundation for this research. The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of language skills in the activities section of the EFL textbook using the theory of Paul Nation’s Four Strands.
A qualitative approach with a content analysis design was employed in this study. A content analysis approach is chosen in conducting this research. Two strands from Paul Nation’s Four Strands—Meaning-Focused Input (MFI) and Meaning-Focused Output (MFO)—were used to analyze the four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The analysis of these language skills was conducted on Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 5.
The research findings reveal the following percentage distribution of language skills learning: reading (37.27%), writing (31.82%), listening (23.64%), and speaking (7.27%). The data indicate a lack of balance in the implementation of language skills in the textbook, with a predominant focus on reading instruction over the other skills. This suggests that the author may have intentionally emphasized reading, considering it a foundational skill that plays a crucial role in the early stages of language learning. Additionally, the analysis of language skills fulfillment based on Paul Nation’s theoretical instrument yields the following scores: speaking (83.13), reading (80.24), listening (78.85), and writing (73.00). The data indicate that speaking is the only skill categorized as having excellent alignment with Paul Nation’s theory, while the other three skills—reading, listening, and writing—demonstrate a lower level of alignment with the theory.
Based on these findings, the study concludes that the textbook does not demonstrate a balanced implementation of language skills. Moreover, the quantity of activities in the textbook does not necessarily contribute to better alignment with the Four Strands framework. The researcher recommends that educators, authors, and textbook publishers, as well as future researchers to implement language skills instruction that prioritizes balance and equitable distribution among the four skills
maupun tanah lunak sehingga semua elemen struktur rumah vernakular

UI UX Design of Waste Sorting Website-Based Application Applying the Design Sprint Method Case Study Palmerah West Jakarta
Public awareness that is increasingly paying attention to environmental problems requires public awareness to manage waste in a more efficient way. Due to the lack of understanding and appropriate methods for sorting waste, solutions different from conventional methods must be sought. Technology has become an important part of innovation in management. User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) are increasingly considered important in meeting user needs due to new interaction patterns with technology. The aim of this research is to understand and meet user needs in waste sorting. Therefore, the author has found a solution by creating a UI/UX design for an interactive waste sorting application. This study was conducted using the design sprint method which consists of five steps: understand, differentiate, decide, create a prototype, and verify. The results of tests carried out using the system usability scale method produced a score of 75, which shows that this application makes it easier for users to sort waste more efficiently and environmentally friendly
The Communal Democracy of Yogyakarta Special Region’s Government on the Islamic Law Eclecticism Perspective
Law Number 13 of the Year 2012 on Yogyakarta Special Region’s privileges containing a legal affirmative democracy system leads to the weakening of democracy and has implications for non-substantive democracy. It furthermore reflects the normative ambiguity of the democratic system which legitimizes Yogyakarta’s privileged affairs. Therefore, this research aims to analyze Yogyakarta’s privileged affairs based on Islamic Law Eclecticism by reconstructing the democratic system in Law Number 13. Using the normative-doctrinal method accompanied by statutory and conceptual approaches, this research used the content analysis method and legal descriptive techniques. This research shows that the democratic system of DIY is crystallized and simultaneously presented in the form of the Trilogy of Yogyakarta Democratic Principles. Those consist of ngencengke oyot, ngencengke pang, and njagani godhong lan kembang. Based on this, the reconstruction of the democratic system of Yogyakarta’s privilege affairs leads to communal democracy as a form of revitalizing its privilege affairs. Besides, that trilogy, based on Islamic Law Eclecticisms, refers to the interconnection of maqâṣid al-syarī’ah cum-rechtsidee and al-‘urf. The reconstruction of the democratic system in Law Number 13 potentially revitalizes Yogyakarta’s privileged affairs by making local wisdom its core value
PERILAKU DAN KETAHANAN STRUKTUR RUMAH VERNAKULAR DESA GUNUNG ALAM LEBONG TERHADAP GEMPA BUMI
Lebong Regency is an earthquake-prone area in Bengkulu Province. This is because Lebong Regency is located adjacent to the Bukit Barisan Mountains which are included in the earthquake-prone zone and in the line of active faults. This research was conducted at Mr. Sonid’s vernacular house in Gunung Alam Village, Pelabai District, Lebong Regency to determine the behavior and the resistance of its structure. The behavior and resilience of the vernacular house structure against earthquakes is analyzed based on SNI 1726:2019. The analysis was carried out using SAP 2000 software to obtain the actual internal forces in the form of bending moment (M), shear force (V), and compressive force (P).The capacity of the wood structure was analyzed using the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method which refers to SNI 7973:2013 to obtain adjusted moment capacity values (M'), adjusted compression capacity (P'), and adjusted shear capacity (V').The results of structural analysis of earthquakes produce the same actual internal forces in medium and soft soil conditions so that all structural elements of the vernacular house have the same structural behavior.Analysis of the capacity of the wooden structure results the adjusted internal forces of some structural elements which are smaller than the actual internal forces, so that the vernacular house structure is unable to withstand the forces that occur. However, based on the earthquake and its impact until this research was conducted, the condition of the vernacular house still stands strong without any damage to its structural elements
The Influence of Structure Height and Use of Shear Walls on the Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Building Structures
Bengkulu is one of the areas prone to earthquakes. The application of earthquake-resistant reinforced concrete buildings must be done to minimise lateral forces due to earthquakes. The reinforced concrete structure system commonly used to withstand these lateral forces is a double system using sliding walls. Shear walls are structural elements that can affect rigidity and withstand lateral loads due to earthquakes. In addition, the structure's height will affect the load acting on the structure and the dimensions of the planned structural elements. This study aims to analyse the influence of structural height and the use of sliding walls on the behaviour of reinforced concrete building structures. The analysis in this study used spectrum response method analysis with the help of the ETABS application. Results show that the use of shear walls makes the structure stiffer at lower levels, and the higher the structure will result in the period of the structure, the primary shear force, the deviation between levels, and the influence of P-delta increases
Integrating COBIT and ISO Frameworks in IT Audits: A Literature Review
The accelerated evolution of information technology (IT) has compelled organizations to adopt structured governance frameworks to enhance audit efficacy and ensure robust information security. This study presents a systematic literature review examining the integration of COBIT and ISO/IEC 27001 within IT audit practices. Employing a qualitative descriptive methodology, the review synthesizes insights from seven primary scholarly sources, including case studies from both public and private sectors. The analysis delineates integration patterns, identifies best practices, and explores the synergistic potential of aligning COBIT’s strategic governance capabilities with the technical control rigour of ISO/IEC 27001. Findings demonstrate that such integration enhances audit capability maturity, facilitates structured risk mitigation, and fosters alignment between IT functions and organizational objectives. Nonetheless, notable research gaps persist, particularly the scarcity of quantitative assessments, limited cross-sector generalizability, and the absence of longitudinal evaluations of implementation outcomes. Additionally, practical challenges—including integration complexity, inadequate human resource competencies, and the lack of standardized implementation guidelines—impede broader adoption. The study concludes that integrating COBIT and ISO/IEC 27001 constitutes a viable foundation for advancing IT governance and audit maturity. However, further empirical investigation and development of pragmatic toolkits are essential. These insights aim to inform auditors, IT governance professionals, and policy makers in devising adaptive, standard-aligned audit strategies
