Beyond the Catholic-Protestant divide : religious and ethnic diversity in the North and South of Ireland
Paper presented to the IBIS conference Old structures, new beliefs: religion, community and politics in contemporary Ireland, University College Dublin, 15 May 2003.This paper explores the challenges posed by the ethnic diversification of contemporary Irish society for conventional understandings of and responses to issues of religion, community and politics. It argues that the particularities of social and institutional histories and structures in the North and South have eclipsed wider considerations of both race and ethnicity and religious identity beyond the Catholic-Protestant divide. This has, in turn, served to obscure the many dynamic changes that such diversity has catalysed both within Irish civil society generally, and within the island’s traditional religious institutions themselves. The paper discusses the promises and potentials of conceptualising religion or religious identity and the relationships between religion and ethnicity within broader cultural and political fields, and their implications for the “new” (multicultural) Ireland.Not applicableti -TS 07.07.10

Branching fraction and CP asymmetry of the decays B+→K0Sπ+ and B+→K0SK+
An analysis of B+ → K0
Sπ+ and B+ → K0
S K+ decays is performed with the LHCb experiment. The pp
collision data used correspond to integrated luminosities of 1 fb−1 and 2 fb−1 collected at centre-ofmass
energies of

s = 7 TeV and
√
s = 8 TeV, respectively. The ratio of branching fractions and the
direct CP asymmetries are measured to be B(B+ → K0

Injectors in pi-Separable Groups
[EN] Let pi be a set of primes. We show that pi-separable groups have a conjugacy class of F-injectors for suitable Fitting classes F, which coincide with the usual ones when specializing to soluble groups.Research supported by Proyectos PROMETEO/2017/057 from the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Community, Spain), and PGC2018-096872-B-I00 from the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion y Universidades, Spain, and FEDER, European Union. A Comparative Analysis of Works by Morton Feldman
The purpose of this paper is to show that the years 1970-1976 were a period of transition in the career of American composer Morton Feldman (1926-1987), the choice of these years determined by (a) Feldman's return to the use of purely traditional notation after many years of experimentation and (b) the date of the last work of less than ten minutes duration. This is accomplished by analyzing four works which date from this period, Madame Press Died Last Week at Ninety, The Viola In My Life (2), Voices and Instruments, and Routine Investigations; generalizations are then made from the four analyses which are reinforced by observations drawn from two additional works that date from this period, Rothko Chapel and Instruments (1). Two works that pre- and postdate this period, Eleven Instruments from 1953 and Principal Sound from 1980, are then analyzed relative to the generalizations drawn from the works dating from 1970-1976; Eleven Instruments is found to have little if anything in common with the works from 1970-1976, while the opposite is true for Principal Sound.Made available in DSpace on 2011-05-07T12:07:06Z (GMT).
