AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENT LEARNING EXPERIENCE TOWARD FULLY INSTRUCTION OF WEB - BASED LEARNING DURING THE PANDEMIC OF COVID 19
This research aimed to figure out student learning experience toward fully instruction of web-based learning during the pandemic of covid-19 in IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Descriptive qualitative method was implemented in this research. The total sample were 30 students from the second semester of English Education Program at IKIP PGRI Pontianak in the academic year of 2019/2020. It was determined by cluster sampling which took A Morning Class. This research used open-ended questions designed by Vai and Sosulski (2011) which consisted of four elements learning experience namely learner, mentor, knowledge and environment as the indicator of this research. There were 10 questions in the questionnaire. The data findings analyzed by using transcription. Triangulation was implemented in this research to determine the accuracy or the credibility of the data findings. The research findings indicated that the implementation of web-based learning was convenient for the students to keep continuing the learning activities during the pandemic of covid-19. However, the student still preferred conventional (face-to-face) learning because the intensity of teaching learning process made lecturers’ explanation easier for them to comprehend the material. Though the lecturers’ instructions and feedback during learning via the web was satisfied and supported the students but it did not help them much because of some reasons such as bad internet connection. Most of students live in a village that has bad internet connection. It made some of the students had to go to downtown in order to get good internet connection so they would not missed the class but sometimes the lecturers did not start the class on the schedule. So, they felt difficult to follow the class. Besides, the students also felt difficult to ask or discuss regarding the materials they did not understand even though the lecturers let them ask whenever they were confused but it was hard to understand by texting or chatting. Without understanding the materials, they should finish all assignments by the deadline given. Due to this case, during web-based learning the students wanted the content design for the material display in a video format thus they can download it after the signal is available. Perhaps, it can help them understand the material and do not worry about the signal error. In conclusion, the students actually could not study well through web based learning. They wanted to study as usual in a class by convenient or face to face learning
Analyzing Students’ difficulties in learning to write
The study aims to identify the students’ perception of learning writing in the literature college. The method applied in the study was quantitative. The number of participants recruited purposively was 40 students. The findings indicated that, despite being considered necessary, most of the students perceived that writing belongs to the most challenging subject. The participants also perceived that learning from the newspaper could provide the most current news to the participants. Lastly, in terms of writing sources, they still considered that the learning sources provided by the teachers were essential for them. However, they also expected that they could learn from other sites, such as social media, as this media could provide them with the most current sources in writing and more flexible and exciting sources.
Quality and Competitive Ability Evaluation Method Development Mobile Fleet
The purpose of the article was to develop the evaluation method of mobile fleet. It is found that to evaluate production quality criterion of "integrated quality coefficient" is needed. Quality coefficient can be defined analytically. The author proposes the special formula to do this. Usage of analytical formula enables to conclude where one model excels the other, and where it is inferior. The formula validity check was performed. The research activities pursued by author enable to conclude that designed formula gives opportunity to evaluate product quality level objectively. Thus, competitive ability evaluation method resolves itself into choosing estimated product analogues and defining product quality coefficient using analytical method. Subsequently, prices and analogous product quality coordinates are put on two-coordinate field and dependency diagram of product price on its quality is built via least square method. Such method enables to evaluate quality and competitive ability of mobile fleet and make right choice.</jats:p
INCORPORATING CULTURAL FACTORS IN EFL CONTEXT
This study highlighted the issue of the incorporation of English cultures, cultural preference and diversity in relation to the students’ English program. The need to analyze the students’ perception is imperative since the students are considered as one of the most important factors in determining the success or failure of their own learning process. The respondents recruited for the present study were 80 part-time college students of different departments (i.e., Literature, Informatics, and Accounting). The use of mixed method aimed to elicit more elaborate data on the students’ perceptions toward the above issues. The instruments used in the present study were questionnaires and semi-structured interview. During the data collection, the questionnaire, and interview were administered within the same day. The results indicated that the students’ perception toward the incorporation of English culture was ambivalent. Of the 80 participants, there were only 48 students who voiced to agree and to strongly agree with the exposure; while the rest of the participants did not seem to agree. It was also found that most of the students preferred to learn Asian cultures instead of western ones. The most noticeable determinants affecting their preference were mainly the popularity of Asian cultures exposed on various media as well as their jobs which mostly involved Asian employers (Japanese, Korean, etc.). They were also found to appreciate the exposure conducted by the teacher as one of the relevant activity when learning foreign language. English grammar and vocabulary are skills to prioritize when speaking with Asians, and they did not find pronunciation important to support communication among them
THE COST OF UNIFORMITY: THE CASE OF STATE SCHOOL STUDY TOUR FROM ANTI CORRUPTION PERSPECTIVE
Scientific traveling, frequently called a study tour, is a regularly conducted program by school management and must be followed by the school students regardless of their parent's financial condition. This event must be followed in order for the students to be able to do some scientific projects. Even though some school managements do not force all students to participate in this program, most of the school students feel obligated to participate.
The study tour has been prominently discussed and reported due to the numerous impacts of this program. It persists due to potentially beneficial factors, such as the possible income reaching hundreds of millions and becoming a financial source for school management and other related parties (bus providers, travel agents, hotel providers).
Even though the government fully funds the state school, the need for more cash and funds makes the school management hold the event regularly. Of the government's objective to create a freedom to learn and a free-from-corruption education program, the culture of forcing students to participate in the so-called study tour should be prohibited. Furthermore, the implementation of this program should be tightly supervised so that potential maladministration can be prevented. In sum, such expensive traveling camouflaged with the name scientific activities can also be conducted in much more affordable programs, for instance, by choosing the nearest colleges/universities, reducing the length of programs, and choosing the most relevant institutions to the students' diversified interests and future career prospects
Сivil law information obligations under French law
The article is the result of a study of the doctrine and practice of information obligations under
French law, which initially did not recognize any broad information obligations. The development
of this institution has been slow with the accumulation of doctrine and practice. There
has been a gradual realization that solidarity, fairness and good faith require disclosure of information
relevant to the decision to enter into a contract or implement a contract. Particularly
noticeable was the expansion of information obligations in professional relationships. Much attention
is paid to the doctrinal problem of defining information obligations using the necessary
elements: material and psychological. Only the simultaneous presence of these elements on
the debtor’s side and the absence of an inexcusable mistake on the creditor’s side testify to
the presence of an information obligation. It is noted that one of the peculiarities of information
obligations is the fact that, as a rule, the creditor learns about it when the obligation has
already been violated. These examples of legislative regulation and court practice demonstrate
the complexity of interaction between the institutions of error and fraud and the legal category
of information obligations. The author of the article proposes to get acquainted with the generally
accepted division of information obligations by chronological criterion and by the degree
of content of the obligation. In general, it should be noted that this study will be useful for the
beginning of the formation of the doctrine of information obligations, which is currently absent
in Russian civil law
THIS IS NOT THE WAY WE DO TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM: THE LITERATURE COLLEGE PERCEPTIONS ON ANA KARENINA’S LIFE
he study analyzed the concept of feminism based on the readers’ perceptions, who are the active literature students. The study was conducted in mixed method in order to allow the researchers to employ more instruments and eliciting more varied data. There were 20 students of the literature students, who were recruited purposefully. These students were the ones, who have completed the novel in their previous semester. The findings indicated that, despite being viewed as an interesting novel, most of the participants tended to perceive that the main character’s behavior was not always morally acceptable. In fact, the action in committing adulterous relationship with her illegal partner was considered immoral. Despite supporting the action of the main character in pursuing happiness as the main objective of marriage and partially accepting divorce as one of the potential solutions, most of the participants perceived that adultery is not an acceptable way to solve the problem. The participants also considered that dialogue between the couple should be done so that they could solve their problem amicably. In sum, most of the participants agreed that feminism is important as it can provide the women with the chance to stand on a par with the other counterparts. However, they believe that feminism will never endorse such betrayal in the name of equality of women’s right
Search for jet extinction in the inclusive jet-pT spectrum from proton-proton collisions at s=8 TeV
Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. Further distribution of this work must maintain attribution to the author(s) and the published articles title, journal citation, and DOI.The first search at the LHC for the extinction of QCD jet production is presented, using data collected with the CMS detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 10.7 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The extinction model studied in this analysis is motivated by the search for signatures of strong gravity at the TeV scale (terascale gravity) and assumes the existence of string couplings in the strong-coupling limit. In this limit, the string model predicts the suppression of all high-transverse-momentum standard model processes, including jet production, beyond a certain energy scale. To test this prediction, the measured transverse-momentum spectrum is compared to the theoretical prediction of the standard model. No significant deficit of events is found at high transverse momentum. A 95% confidence level lower limit of 3.3 TeV is set on the extinction mass scale
Оксана. Ідилічний нарис: Вірші та поеми
Włodzimierz Wysocki (1846–1894) is a poet forgotten in contemporary Polish literature, whose memory is, however, still preserved in Ukrainian literature and among the Polish intelligentsia living in Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Lviv. The writer was born at the time when the Romantic tradition, important for Polish culture in the 19th and 20th centuries, was only begining to take shape, while the Positivist tradition, questioning the ideas and symbols of Romanticism, still exerted significant influence. Wysocki grew up with these two traditions, far from the Polish cultural centres. He was born in 1846 in Romaniv in Volhynia into a family of minor nobility. He graduated from a junior high school in Zhytomyr and then settled down in Kyiv. His passion was photography and he gave lectures on that topic. His photography business brought him recognition from the residents of Kyiv, as well as a considerable fortune. When it comes to his writing career, he made his debut in 1882 with a satirical poem Wszyscy za jednego (All for One. Epigram) (Kyiv). He subsequently published the narrative poems Laszka (Lachian woman) (Kiev 1883), Las (Forest) (Kiev 1885), Bocian. Dwie legendy (Stork. Two legends) (Kyiv 1894), satirical works Zaklęta łza. Ballada (Enchanted tear. Ballad); Nowe Dziady. Żarcik poetycki (New Dziady. A poetic joke) (Kyiv 1885), Oksana. Szkic sielankowy (Oksana. Idyllic sketch) (Kyiv 1885), as well as Satyry i bajki (Satires and fables)(Kyiv 1894). The author corresponded with Eliza Orzeszkowa. He visited Warsaw, Grodno, Vienna and Dresden. His poetry combines elements of Polish and Ukrainian culture and history, and is full of patriotic accents concealed from the eye of the Tsarist censorship). Wysocki’s point of reference as a poet were the poets of the Ukrainian school in Polish poetry (Malczewski, Goszczyński, Zaleski), Mickiewicz and Słowacki, as well as positivist writers, from whose work he draws inspiration with respect to social and political ideas. As Marek Nalepa observes: “Wysocki’s short literary biography meant that his entire poetic oeuvre is characterised by a certain freshness, despite his sometimes overt or even provocative use of Romantic models and his use of well-known stylistic cliches, which was noticed by the creator and editor of ≫Pravda≪, Aleksander Świętochowski, who wrote that the poet ‘held in strong hands his poetic lute, from which he could produce so many fresh tones, which were sad, but only with the sadness of youthful souls!’ [A. Świętochowski, Włodzimierz Wysocki (posthumous tribute), ≫Prawda. Tygodnik polityczny, społeczny i literacki≪ 1894, no. 33, p. 202]. This voice is particularly important given the fact that Świętochowski was one of the literary mentors of Wysocki, as well as the first reader of most of his works Introduction). In turn, Ukrainian researcher Mariya Bracka states that: “Wysocki’s uniqueness as an artist compared to the Polish positivists lies in the preservation and presentation in epistolography of a rather strong model of Polish identity despite its constant exposure to Russian imperial influence and declaration of loyalty towards the Tsarist authorities. […] not only was the author pained by the Polish national question, not only did he attempt to promote the disappearing Polishness in Kyiv by printing his own works in Polish, but he also accepted and supported the development of a separate Ukrainian nationality and original Ukrainian literature, unlike many epigones of Romantic Ukrainianophilia (including his fellow Ukrainianophile – Rawita-Gawroński). By analysing Polish-Ukrainian history and relations, Wysocki tries to foster understanding, affinity and mutual respect, to reflect on the past and to work together for the sake of a better future” (Introduction). The volume is preceded by introductions by: Marya Bracka, PhD – a Polish studies expert at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Prof. Marek Nalepa of the University of Rzeszow (Poland). The volume was edited and preceded by the Editor’s Note by Prof. Jarosław Ławski of the Department of Philological Research “East – West” at the University of Białystok. The volume is published as part of the project of the Ministry of Education and Science – the National Programme for the Development of the Humanities under the grant “Continuation of critical editions of outstanding, forgotten works of 19th-century Polish Romantic literature in the Academic Publishing Series ‘Black Romanticism’ in twelve volumes”. The project was designed by Prof. Halina Krukowska (1937–2019).
