As it turns out, Professor A, who has been a first author more often than Professor Z, will have published more articles and experienced afaster growth rate over the course of her career as a result of reputation and visibility. No full textW artykule przedstawiono przypadek 31-letniego pacjenta chorego na hemofilię A, z licznymi rozsianymi
zmianami naczyniowymi na skórze moszny. Hemofilia jest chorobą dziedziczną, należącą do wrodzonych
skaz osoczowych, recesywną sprzężoną z płcią (sprzężoną z chromosomem X). Chorują na nią głównie męż‑
czyźni, kobiety są nosicielkami zmutowanego genu. Częstość jej występowania w Polsce wynosi 1:16 000.
Zarejestrowanych jest około 2000 chorych. Powyżej wspomniane zmiany naczyniowe moszny stanowiły istot‑
ny problem zarówno kosmetyczny, jak i psychologiczny pacjenta, dlatego wykonano ich resekcję. Kwalifika‑
cję do postępowania operacyjnego znacznie utrudniał fakt, że pacjent chorował na hemofilię A. Zwiększyła
ona ryzyko krwawienia w przypadku usunięcia zmian o charakterze naczyniowym. Standardowym schema‑
tem procedury przedoperacyjnej u chorych na hemofilię jest włączenie do leczenia czynnika VIII. W celu
zmniejszenia ryzyka krwawienia do usuwania zmian użyto lasera CO2 CTL 1401. W artykule opisano trzy
etapy postępowania: przedoperacyjny, zabieg oraz przebieg pooperacyjny z pomyślnym wynikiem. Zastoso‑
wanie chirurgii laserowej przyczyniło się do skrócenia czasu zabiegu, który przebiegł bez powikłań. Po 4 dniach
hospitalizacji pacjent został wypisany do domu w stanie ogólnym i miejscowym dobrym, bez cech krwawie‑
nia. Autorzy artykułu są zdania, że zastosowanie CO2 w chirurgii laserowej u chorych na hemofilię zajmuje
ważne miejsce wśród metod nowoczesnej technologii laserowej, która zapewnia standardowe środki ostrożności i charakteryzuje się powszechną dostępnością aparaturową
Transition to turbulence in a qblique shock-wave/boundary-layer interaction at M=15
No full textDirect numerical simulations are carried out for different forcing techniques to trigger transition during the interaction between an oblique shock-wave and a laminar boundary-layer at M = 1.5. Three forcing methods are used: a) forcing of oblique unstable modes, whose shape and behaviour are determined by the local linear stability theory, b) broadband free-stream acoustic disturbances, and c) a cold plasma flow control device. While the oblique-mode breakdown is dominant for low-amplitude forcing, long streaky structures drive the transition process in a high-amplitude disturbance environment. LES are also performed on the experimental setup by the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITAM) from Novosibirsk State University with cold plasma actuation. As well as the disturbance type, the effect of Reynolds number and forcing amplitude will be investigated
Object orientation without extending Z
No full textThe good news of this paper is that without extending Z,
we can elegantly specify object-oriented systems, including encapsulation,
inheritance and subtype polymorphism (dynamic dispatch). The
bad news is that this specification style is rather different to normal
Z specifications, more abstract and axiomatic, which means that it is
not so well supported by current Z tools such as animators. It also enforces
behavioural subtyping, unlike most object-oriented programming
languages. This paper explains the proposed style, with examples, and
discusses its advantages and disadvantages
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Data structures for Z testing tools.
No full textThis paper describes some of the difficulties and challenges that arise during the design of tools for validating Z specifications by testing and animation. We address three issues: handling undefined terms, simplification versus enumeration, and the representation of sets, and show how each issue has been handled in the Jaza tool.
Finally, we report on a brief experimental comparison of existing Z animators and conclude that while the state of the art is improving, more work is needed to ensure that the tools are robust and respect the Z semantics
Observation of Z production in proton-lead collisions at LHCb
No full textThe first observation of Z boson production in proton-lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per proton-nucleon pair of √sNN = 5 TeV is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 nb−1 collected with the LHCb detector. The Z candidates are reconstructed from pairs of oppositely charged muons with pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5 and transverse momenta above 20 GeV/c. The invariant dimuon mass is restricted to the range 60 − 120 GeV/c. The Z production cross-section is measured to be
σZ→μ+μ−(fwd)=13.5+5.4−4.0(stat.)±1.2(syst.) nb
in the direction of the proton beam and
σZ→μ+μ−(bwd)=10.7+8.4−5.1(stat.)±1.0(syst.) nb
in the direction of the lead beam, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic

No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
