Design: The authors scrutinize online Content Management Systems (CMS) that can be used to empower librarians to become web designers. It examines how Google Blogger can be a CMS for librarians to create and manage library websites. The article highlights the benefits of using Blogger, such as its ability to integrate with other Google tools, its cost-effectiveness, and its flexibility in design and customization, are highlighted. Overall, the article argues that Google Blogger is an excellent option for librarians to become web designers, and it provides tips and examples for getting started. Purpose: This article examines how Google Blogger can be a content management system (CMS) for librarians to create and manage library websites. The report provides praxis-oriented solutions to enable libraries to innovate with the armor of digital technologies for the benefit of users. Findings: The study found that, while many CMS platforms are available in the market, Blogger is a very user-friendly online CMS. From a cost-benefit analysis, Google Blogger provides numerous benefits; for example, there is no need for installation or a personalized server; it only needs an electronic device with an internet connection and a web browser. Google Blogger is more convenient for libraries that are reeling under budgetary constraints. Using Google Blogger, librarians can develop websites for their Libraries and independently share Library e-resources, valuable links, and information. Libraries do not need a web designer to upload, edit, modify, and design a library’s web content. Blogger provides simple and friendly features for the above works. Originality/ Value: There has been little attention given to the use of Google Blogger by librarians as a tool for creating websites for their libraries and allowing them to share library-based e-resources, valuable links, and information independently. Therefore, exploring how it can be optimally used to benefit libraries at a low cost is necessary to maximize its benefits

Based on an investigation whose criterion was to analyze the cultural correspondence of the bibliographic collections located in libraries of primary schools of the Intercultural Bilingual Education (EIB) modality, in the northeastern region of Argentina (provinces of Chaco, Corrientes, Formosa and Misiones), It was evaluated to carry out a comparative study of the collections and services present in primary and secondary schools in the province of Chaco. Although there are elements to consider a potential usefulness of the collections by teachers and librarians (especially herbaria, maps and photographs), they have no impact on the uninhabited plane of school research. For this work, a consultation was made to the Official Registry of Educational Institutions, where the study population was taken as the people responsible for the libraries located in the secondary schools of Chaco, Common Education, Youth and Adults primary level, and Complementary Services modality. The data were extracted and analyzed, under a qualitative-quantitative methodological criterion, through surveys with open and closed questions. The research carried out allows us to understand how the cultural correspondence of bibliographic collections is losing impact in terms of oral documents, museum pieces and library extension services that are required to sustain the EIB modality from their libraries, a situation that follows the logic of decreasing percentage of institutions that offer this alternative to indigenous students who decide to continue in some of the different educational levels of secondary school

The establishment of the Deputy for Prevention at Iran Health Insurance organization since two years ago has created a golden opportunity for advancing the six types of preventive services in Iran. According to 7th section of Article 73 of the Seventh Development Plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran (2024-2028), basic health insurance organizations have committed to spend at least five percent of their annual approved budgets on preventive services during the implementation of the program. In preventive medicine and public health, preventive services are categorized into six types. In this commentary, each type of the six preventive measures will be briefly defined, and proposed programs will be presented to the Deputy for Prevention at Iran Health Insurance for promoting the quality of each type of preventive service. To successfully implement these programs, it is essential that the Prevention Department designs a comprehensive insurance support system for these six types of preventive services through the Supreme Council of Health Insurance. This system should be developed in collaboration with all insurance organizations, the Deputy for Health, and the Deputy for Treatment of the Ministry of Health, utilizing systems thinking and systems science with the goal of supporting ongoing programs at comprehensive health service centers and health houses

Ecocentrism and Open Knowledge: A Unified Vision for Food, Health, and Environment from Traditional Wisdom

Traditional medicine practitioners across the globe approach food as having therapeutic potential and dietary routine as a way of preventive healthcare. Conventional systems like Ayurveda in India utilized a variety of herbs, spices, and components derived from both plants and animals in specific preparations for preventing and treating ailments. As these preparations are very particular about the source of raw materials, the preservation of the flora and fauna, and in broader terms, the biodiversity, is of paramount significance. Ancient knowledge in India emphasizes this aspect as well as promotes ecological empathy to respect nature and its inhabitants with an interest in their well-being. Sustainable improvement in the quality of life is interconnected with the preservation of nature and the addressing of environmental concerns. The teachings of Hindu sage Chattampi Swamikal underline ecological empathy with an open knowledge approach as the foundation for sustainable growth and holistic well-being. The authors opinioned that an eco-centric approach with open access to knowledge seems crucial for achieving sustainable development, especially concerning food, health, and the environment

Metadata Standardization in Cultural Heritage Imaging: A Semantic Annotation Approach

    Get PDF
Author examines the different types of metadata schemes used for the documentation of cultural heritage images with their common characteristics and compares their appropriateness. Also, discusses the possibilities and issues for effectively incorporating the metadata standards while designing the cultural heritage image documentation systems to curtail the semantic issues and to make them interoperable with other external services. The study revealed the hurdles to develop an ontology without integrating two or more schemas, which could incorporate both tangible and intangible cultural resources without any issues of semantics and interoperability; for its integration and dissemination. The findings can enhance the current understanding of metadata standards available for the cultural heritage domain and also help in their selection while creating a cultural heritage image system

An Examination of the Factors Affecting the Adoption of Digital Transformation by Librarians at Medical Universities Based on Rogers' Diffusion of Innovation Theory

    Get PDF
Background. Digital transformation refers to the changes resulting from the implementation of digital technologies across all aspects of human life. This study aims to explore the factors affecting the adoption of digital transformation by librarians at medical universities based on Rogers' Diffusion of Innovation (DoI) theory. Methods. This descriptive-correlational study involved 220 medical university librarians across the country, who were selected using a census sampling method. Data were collected during the third quarter of 2024 using a researcher-developed questionnaire. Five experts in knowledge and information science and social sciences confirmed the questionnaire’s validity, and a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.934 established its reliability. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 26, employing both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including factor analysis, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results. The study identified four of the five innovation adopter categories (innovators, early adopters, early majority, and late majority), while the laggards category was not observed. Factor analysis highlighted relative advantage, trialability, complexity, compatibility, and observability as main attributes of digital transformation. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis indicated that, among the predictor variables, observability and compatibility were significant predictors of digital transformation acceptance, collectively explaining 26% of the variance in the dependent variable. Conclusion. The results indicated that medical university librarians adopted digital transformation at a rate higher than average, showing a generally favorable attitude towards it. Most participants were categorized as early adopters of innovation. In accordance with Rogers' DoI theory, this study identified and validated the five key characteristics influencing digital transformation adoption. Moreover, these results have significant implications for policymakers and managers, highlighting the importance of promoting compatibility and observability features in digital transformation to accelerate the adoption rate
