Bootstrapping N= 3 superconformal theories
No full textWe initiate the bootstrap program for N= 3 superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in four dimensions. The problem is considered from two fronts: the protected subsector described by a 2d chiral algebra, and crossing symmetry for half-BPS operators whose superconformal primaries parametrize the Coulomb branch of N= 3 theories. With the goal of describing a protected subsector of a family of N= 3 SCFTs, we propose a new 2d chiral algebra with super Virasoro symmetry that depends on an arbitrary parameter, identified with the central charge of the theory. Turning to the crossing equations, we work out the superconformal block expansion and apply standard numerical bootstrap techniques in order to constrain the CFT data. We obtain bounds valid for any theory but also, thanks to input from the chiral algebra results, we are able to exclude solutions with N= 4 supersymmetry,allowingustozoominonaspecific N= 3 SCFT
Measurement of the ratio of prompt χ c to J / ψ production in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
No full textThe prompt production of charmonium χ c and J / ψ states is studied in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The χ c and J / ψ mesons are identified through their decays χ c → J / ψ γ and J / ψ → μ + μ - using 36 pb - 1 of data collected by the LHCb detector in 2010. The ratio of the prompt production cross-sections for χ c and J / ψ, σ (χ c → J / ψ γ) / σ (J / ψ), is determined as a function of the J / ψ transverse momentum in the range 2 < p T J / ψ < 15 GeV / c. The results are in excellent agreement with next-to-leading order non-relativistic expectations and show a significant discrepancy compared with the colour singlet model prediction at leading order, especially in the low p T J / ψ region

A Dependable Architecture for COTS-Based Software Systems using Protective Wrappers
No full textCommercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software components are built to be used as black boxes that cannot be modified. The specific context in whichthese COTS components are employed is not known to their developers. Whenintegrating such COTS components into systems, which have high dependability requirements, there may be mismatches between the failure assumptions of these components and the rest of the system. For resolving these mismatches, system integrators must rely on techniques that are external to the COTS software components. In this paper, we combine the concepts of an idealised architectural component and protective wrappers to develop an architectural solution that provides an effective and systematic way for building dependable software systems from COTS software components

No full textSe estudió la presencia de enfermedades que afectan a cultivos de camarón blanco (Litopenaeus vannamei) en sistemas semi-intensivos e intensivos de ocho regiones costeras en siete países latinoamericanos, con litoral en el océano Pacífico, mar Caribe y océano Atlántico. Durante 2008 y 2009 se obtuvieron cuatro muestras por región, por año, para un total de 1.920 organismos, que fueron examinados para detectar signos clínicos característicos de enfermedades causadas por bacterias, hongos, protozoos y virus, confirmándose su presencia con análisis histológicos, bacteriológicos y moleculares. Se registraron 12 enfermedades con prevalencia variable que en promedio varió de 2,5 a 21,7% y con máximos observados de 40%, siendo en ambos casos la enfermedad de las manchas blancas la que registró los máximos.Autoria: MOURA-LEMUS, A. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

No full textO objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a viabilidade de bactérias probióticas Bifidobacterium bifidum subsp. lactis e Lactobacillus acidophilus em uma sobremesa sem lactose, à base de extrato de soja, com diferentes concentrações de café (0 a 1,5%), armazenada a 7 [graus] C. Quatro formulações produzidas foram avaliadas quanto ao pH, acidez e contagem das bactérias probióticas após 0, 7, 14 e 21 dias de armazenamento. Nem o tempo, nem o teor de café influenciaram significativamente o teor de ácido lático e o pH das amostras estudadas. De acordo com a ANVISA, para que o produto possa ser considerado probiótico, a contagem total de cada cepa por porção (100g) deve ser igual ou superior a 10 [elevado a 8]. No presente estudo, este valor foi observado para L.acidophilus até 21 dias, e para B.bifidum até 7 dias de armazenamento, ambos sem interferência do teor ou percentual de café.Food: the tree that sustains life. 1636
