Abstract: This study aims to examine Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas's idea of the Islamization of science as a basis for the reconstruction of the Islamic education system. This study was motivated by concerns about the influence of secularism and westernization that caused the de-Islamization of Muslim thought. To overcome this problem, Al-Attas proposed the concept of the Islamization of science which aims to free science from non-Islamic values and harmonize it with Islamic principles based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. This article uses a qualitative research method with a library research type. The main data source is the written works of Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas, such as books, journals, and other writings. Secondary data was obtained through other literature relevant to the topic of the Islamization of science and the concept of Islamic education to enrich the discussion. The results of the study show that Al-Attas's Islamization of science is built on an Islamic worldview that is sourced from the teachings of monotheism. The epistemology of science needs to be reconstructed in line with Islamic principles by placing spiritual aspects as its foundation. Al-Attas also proposed the concept of ta'dib as a model of Islamic education that integrates physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects with adab as the core of its method

This research aims to find out the importance of building close relationships between teachers and students in the learning process. This close relationship is one of the important factors in education that can have an impact on improving learning achievement, motivation and student involvement. This research uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Data collection was taken from the source of scientific publication articles indexed in Google Scholar with the help of Harzing's Publish or Perish software application with the keyword “Teacher and student relationships” so that 500 papers were published in the 2001-2023 time period with a total of 13,659 citations, h-index 58, and g-index 93. Then the study focused on papers published in 2023 as many as 17 papers. Of the 17 papers, abstracts and related titles were read so that 6 papers were found that were relevant to the topic to be studied. Data analysis techniques in this study are planning, conducting and reporting.  The study concludes that building close teacher-student relationships is essential in creating a comfortable, inclusive and supportive learning environment. This can be done by teachers with strategies to build emotional bonds, build a positive learning environment, personalized learning, and spiritual approaches, with humorous, dialogical, and interpersonal communication patterns. In building this closeness, there are several challenges and opportunities. Challenges that must be faced are personal differences and backgrounds, time constraints, effective communication, opportunities are knowing individuals deeply, listening and empathy, supporting and empowering, making connections with lesson content

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

This articles discusses deradicalization attempts in religious educational settings. It closely examines the roots of religious radicalism and offers the deradicalisation models in religious educational institutions. The discussion contributes to the current scholarship on the role of religious education in deradicalization programs and how create an Islamic educational institution that corfims and applies principles of multiculturalism. The paper particularly addresses the roles of teacher, the curriculum aspect of learning, and the translation of multiculturalism into Islamic education. Managerial aspect will be also included in the discussion. It further argues that the implementation of principles of multiculturalism reserves as an important element in confronting radical narratives, both from within and without Islamic tradition. It stands as an attempt to create moderate Muslim subjects who persistently uphold principles of inclusivity and transformative learning through opened-deliberation -rather than indoctrination- in educational settings. &nbsp

The demand for renewal of the methodology of Qur’anic interpretation is a modern phenomenon. The Qur’an as the main source of Islamic teachings is fixed and does not change, but on the other hand, the dynamics of the times require the Qur’an to answer new problems. This is what then encourages the experts to review how to present the guidance of the Qur’an in the current context. Among these various updates are those related to the techniques of presenting interpretations (asalib al-tafsir). This paper specifically examines and compares the two most popular techniques of Quranic interpretations, namely ushlub tahlili and ushlub maudhu'i. Regarding these two techniques, some experts consider that the second is more relevant to the demands of nowadays than the first. However, this paper analytically concludes that these two techniques cannot be compared to negate each other because each has advantages and disadvantages. In fact, this two ushlub are still in use, with various adjustments, so that they are considered relevant in the midst of the times

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
