LEARNING SOCIAL VULNERABILITY: A STUDY OF INDONESIAN MIGRANT WORKERS IN HONGKONG DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
When Covid-19 health pandemic has crossed over worldwide, migrant workers have standed in a vulnerable condition due to violations of migrants' rights, impartial policies and being far from the social space. The Covid-19 pandemic has placed migrant workers in increasingly layered conditions of vulnerability. This study aims to identify the vulnerability of Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong SAR, China, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Hong Kong SAR, China, is one of the favorite destinations of Indonesian Migrant Workers and also is closest to mainland China as the epicenter of Covid-19. This qualitative research with a case study approach involves virtual in-depth interviews with Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong SAR, China. In addition to interviews, data were also obtained from secondary sources from journal articles, research reports, and working papers. The results showed that migrant workers in Hong Kong SAR, China, during the Covid-19 pandemic experienced precarious conditions such as a heavier workload, violated rights and exclusion, and stigmatization. Therefore, Indonesian government representative should improve migration data by integrating from the downstream until upstream level and engage communities to distribute the emergency aids. In addition to that embassy has to increase their services by negotiating with the authorities for improving migrant rights condition and integration with Hong Kong SAR, China, communities
ISLAM, EDUCATION, AND MIGRATION IN INDONESIA: Religiosity Left-Behind Muslim Migrant Workers’ Children in East Java
This article examines the religiosity of left-behind children, who are students at Islamic educational institutions, due to their parents' migration. While several studies on Indonesian migrants primarily highlight their religious activities abroad, this study focuses on the religiosity of ‘left-behind’ children in Jember, East Java, to understand the impact of migration on the religiosity and education of children. Left-behind children refer to those whose parents migrate for work, education, or other reasons, leaving them behind in their home countries with relatives or guardians. Several studies suggest that this situation can have a significant impact on the psychological and developmental well-being of children. The data were collected using a qualitative research design, which included participatory observation in informal Islamic education institutions and in-depth interviews with several education facilitators for children under 18 years old. To understand the religious dynamics among these children, this research employs El-Menouar’s dimension of religiosity as an analytical framework. The results identify two main issues appeared within the fields of Islamic education and migration studies: the conditions of children’s religiosity in the context of parental separation and the absence of informal education within the family and the proposal of the concept of Religiosity Left-behind as a new category to understand the spiritual and religious challenges faced by children of migrant workers. This research emphasizes the urgency of strategic interventions from educational stakeholders, including higher religious education institutions and civil society organizations, to design a sustainable program for the development of religiosity aimed at enhancing the quality of Islam and spirituality among children in left-behind situations.
 
PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS' PERCEPTIONS ON ASSESSMENT
Pre-service teachers as the future educators must be thoroughly prepared to become professional teachers. Having assessment is one crucial skill to be professional teachers. This study aims to explore the perceptions of pre-service teachers towards assessment. Sixty pre-service teachers from UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung participated in this research. They completed a questionnaire designed to evaluate their knowledge and beliefs about assessment. The findings suggest that while the majority have a positive view of assessment, a small number hold negative perceptions indicating their lack understanding of assessment. Therefore, it is necessary to improve their understanding of assessment to ensure they are adequately prepared to become professional teachers
EXPLORING THE LEXICAL COHESIONS USED IN SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN MOVIE AND THE IMPLICATIONS TOWARD ELT
This study aims to explore the lexical cohesions used in Snow White and the Huntsman movie as well as to reveal the implications toward English language teaching (ELT). This descriptive qualitative study focused on the lexical cohesions of synonyms, antonyms, and repetitions, the contexts and contributions of each element on plot establishment and the purpose of delivering the message. The findings showed that repetitions in the movie are mostly used than others; 67.7% repetitions, 25.8% synonyms, and 6.5% antonyms. The findings also showed that the lexical cohesions are presented under some contexts, emphasizing the utterance, making variations in the utterance, making contrast in the utterance, seeking agreement on something or making sure of something, and highlighting important points in the utterance. Furthermore, the findings also revealed that the lexical cohesions contribute to the plot establishment and the purpose of delivering the message of the movie because lexical cohesions are very useful in making the scenes in exposition, complication, crisis, climax, and resolution part of the movie more understandable and meaningful. Finally, the lexical cohesions can be potentially useful for ELT practices such as introducing and using lexical cohesions in teaching speaking and writing, finding spoken lexical cohesions in the teaching of listening, and examining lexical cohesions in texts through the teaching of reading because students have to be aware of the links that hold chunks of text together and that contribute to the creation of a text as a unit of meaning
THE HAUL TRADITION OF THE SUNDA STRAIT TSUNAMI
Tradisi Haul Tsunami Selat Sunda di masyarakat pesisir Lampung Selatan telah menjadi simbol penting rasa syukur atas keselamatan dari bencana dan pengingat akan kasih sayang Tuhan. Namun, penelitian yang mendalam mengenai bagaimana tradisi ini dapat mendukung kesiapsiagaan bencana masih terbatas. Di sini, kami menyoroti potensi tradisi Haul untuk diintegrasikan dengan upaya mitigasi bencana yang lebih formal, melalui edukasi informal, peningkatan kohesi sosial, dan pembangunan ketahanan masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode observasi partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam untuk mengeksplorasi peran tradisi Haul dalam membentuk kesadaran masyarakat terhadap ancaman tsunami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Haul tidak hanya memperkuat ikatan komunitas, tetapi juga dapat menjadi media edukasi bencana yang efektif. Tradisi ini, ketika diselaraskan dengan program mitigasi teknis, seperti pelatihan evakuasi atau simulasi bencana, memiliki potensi besar untuk meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan masyarakat pesisir. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting bagi literatur kesiapsiagaan bencana, terutama dalam konteks kearifan lokal, dan merekomendasikan agar pembuat kebijakan mempertimbangkan peran tradisi seperti Haul dalam strategi mitigasi bencana nasiona
Bahan Ajar Maharah Kalam Menggunakan Aplikasi Plotagon Di Story SD IT Nurul Iman Palembang
الملخص البحث: هدف هذه الدراسة إلى تطوير مواد تعليمية لمهارة الكلام تعتمد على التعلم الممتع باستخدام تطبيق بلوتغون ستوري لطلاب الصف السادس في مدرسة الابتدائية الإسلامية المتكاملة نور إيمان في باليمباج. تم استخدام منهجية بحثية تجمع بين المنهج الكمي والنوعي، مع تطبيق نظرية تطوير بورغ وغال. تم جمع البيانات من خلال الملاحظة، المقابلات، الاستبيانات، الوثائق والاختبارات. أظهرت نتائج الاستبيان أن متوسط احتياجات الطلاب بلغ 75.5%.كما أظهرت نتائج اختبار الخبراء أن المواد حصلت على تقييم 91%، ووسائل الإعلام حصلت على تقييم 90%. أشارت نتائج اختبار "العينة المستقلة" إلى وجود فروق وتأثيرات بين نتائج تعلم اللغة العربية قبل وبعد استخدام المواد المطورة، حيث كانت القيمة 0.000 أقل من 0.05. كما أظهر اختبار N-Gain Score أن متوسط النتيجة بلغ 70.78%، مما يعتبر فعالًا إلى حد ما. في المقابل، حصلت المجموعة الضابطة على متوسط 53.23%، مما يعتبر أقل فعالية.بناءً على ذلك، يمكن الاستنتاج أن تطوير مواد تعليمية لمهارة الكلام باستخدام تطبيق بلوتغون ستوري كان فعالًا في تحسين تعلم اللغة العربية.
ABSTRACT: This study aims to develop maharah kalam teaching materials based on fun learning using the plotagon story application for grade VI students of SD IT Nurul Iman Palembang. The approach used is a qualitative and quantitative approach. This development uses the Borg and Gall development theory. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation and tests. Based on the results of the student needs questionnaire with an average value of 75.5%. In addition, it meets the valid criteria with the results of the material/question test expert with a value of 91% and from the media test expert with a value of 90%. The results of the Independent Sample Test with a result of 0.000 <0.05 concluded that there was a difference and influence between the results of learning Arabic on the pre-test and post-test data. And the results of the N-Gain Score test obtained an average value of 70.78 including the fairly effective category. While in the control class with an average value of 53.23 included in the less effective category. It can be concluded that there is effectiveness in the development of the maharah kalam teaching materials. Keywords: Teaching Materials, Maharah Kalam, Fun Learning
ABSTRAK : Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan bahan ajar maharah kalam berbasis fun learning menggunakan aplikasi plotagon story bagi siswa kelas VI SD IT Nurul Iman Palembang. Pendekatan yang digunakan ialah pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Pengembangan ini memakai teori pengembangan Borg and Gall. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penilitian ini ialah observasi, wawancara, angket, dokumentasi dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil angket kebutuhan siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 75,5%. Selain itu, memenuhi kriteria valid dengan hasil ahli uji materi/soal dengan nilai 91% dan dari ahli uji media dengan nilai 90%. Hasil uji Independent Sample Test dengan hasil sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 disimpulkan terdapat perbedaan dan pengaruh antara hasil belajar bahasa Arab pada data pre test dan post test. Dan hasil uji N-Gain Score mendapatkan hasil nilai rata-rata 70,78 termasuk kategori cukup efektif. Sementara pada pada kelas kontrol dengan nilai rata-rata 53,23 termasuk kategori kurang efektif. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat keefektifan dalam Pengembangan bahan ajar maharah kalam tersebut.

فعالية استخدام وسيلة الكلمات المتقاطعة "crossword puzzle"لترقية إتقان المفردات (دراسة شبه تجربة في المدرسة الكينانية الثانوية الإسلامية بجاكرتا الشرقية)
يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحديد مدى فعالية استخدام وسلية الكلمات المتقاطعة (crossword puzzle) لترقية إتقان المفردات اللغة العربية لدى التلميذات في الفصل الحادي عشر العلوم (IPA) في المدرسة الكينانية الثانوية الإسلامية بجاكرتا الشرقية. وتعتمد خلفية هذا البحث على ضعف اهتمام التلميذات وقدرتهم على إتقان المفردات اللغة العربية بسبب رتيبة طريقة التعليم وعدم استخدام الوسائل التفاعلية في عملية التعليم. ويستخدم هذا البحث المنهج الكمي مع الطريقة شبه تجريبة وتصميم مجموعة واحدة الاختبار القبلي والاختبار البعدي. كانت العينة في هذا البحث جميع التلميذات في الفصل الحادي عشر العلوم (IPA) من عدد بمجموع 12 تلميذة. تم تنفيذ أسلوب جمع البيانات من خلال الملاحظة والوثائق والاختبار (الاختبار القبلي والاختبار البعدي). تم تحليل البيانات عن طريق الاختبار الإحصائي باستخدام اختبار العينة المزدوجة. t-test. أظهرت نتائج البحث أن هناك زيادة كبيرة في معدل درجات التلميذات، من 62،92 في الاختبار القبلي إلى 87،50 في الاختبار البعدي. أظهرت نتائج اختبار t أن قيمة اختبار t 7.623 أكبر من t الجدول 2.200985 وقيمة sig 0،001 أصغر من 0،005 وهذا يدل أن هناك فرقًا كبيرًا بين الدرجات قبل وبعد العلاج. وبالتالي، فإن الفرضية البديلة Ha مقبولة والفرضية الأول H0 مرفوضة، وبالتالي فقد ثبت أن استخدام وسيلة الكلمات المتقاطعة (crossword puzzle) فعال لترقية إتقان المفردات اللغة العربية لدى التلميذا
Konflik Sosial dalam Puisi Mata Luka Sengkon Karta Karya Peri Sandi Huizche dan Relevansinya bagi Pembelajaran Prosa
This study aims to describe social conflicts in the poem "Mata Luka Sengkon Karta" by Peri Sandi Huizche. The poem narrates the events surrounding the G30S-PKI incident and the aftermath of the ensuing bloodshed, which led to oppression and injustice experienced by the lower-class society, specifically the lives of Bojongsari farmers. These farmers, Sengkon and Karta, were falsely accused of murder and robbery despite being innocent.The research method employed in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach, where the data presented consists of words rather than numbers. The findings of this study reveal the social conflicts depicted in the poem "Mata Luka Sengkon Karta" by Peri Sandi Huizche, which include poverty, political leadership transitions, murder, oppression, and injustice. Additionally, the results of this analysis can serve as teaching material for prose lessons in schools
Upaya Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menulis Teks Ilmiah melalui Teknik Parafrase Siswa Kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 10 Madiun
This study aims to improve scientific writing skills and reduce plagiarism among eighth-grade students through the application of paraphrasing techniques. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the spiral model developed by Kemmis and Taggart, implemented over two cycles. The subject of the study was Class VIII A of SMP Negeri 10 Madiun, consisting of 35 students. Each cycle consisted of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed that prior to the implementation of the paraphrasing technique (pre-cycle), students’ writing skills were categorized as poor, with an average score below 70 and a plagiarism rate exceeding 50%. In the first cycle, a notable improvement was observed; the average writing score rose above 70, and the plagiarism rate dropped to around 50%. Further improvement occurred in the second cycle, where the average score exceeded 80 and the plagiarism rate decreased to a maximum of 20%. These findings indicate that the paraphrasing technique is effective in enhancing scientific writing skills and minimizing plagiarism among junior high school students
Model Pembelajaran Interaktif dalam Menulis Apresiasi Sastra di SMAN 1 Wates Kabupaten Kediri
Ideally, literature learning is developed through an active and interactive approach so that students are directly involved in the learning process. However, in fact, learning practices are often trapped in conventional approaches that do not actively involve students. This study aims to (1) examine the interactive learning model in writing activities and literary appreciation and (2) its impact on student involvement. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and analysis of learning documents with the research location at SMAN 1 Wates, Kediri Regency. The results of the study showed that interactive learning was able to increase students' active participation. Students looked more enthusiastic, involved in discussions, and demonstrated writing skills that were more sensitive to the aesthetic values and meaning of literary works. This model not only conveys knowledge, but also shapes students' perspectives and sensitivity to life through literature. Transformative literary learning allows students to develop self-expression, empathy, and deep appreciation of literary works. These findings emphasize the importance of learning strategies that involve emotions, critical thinking, and students' personal experiences so that literary learning becomes more alive, meaningful, and relevant to reality
