    No full text
This paper explores the use of AI chatbots in education to enhance learning and assessment. The study focuses on the development and adaptation of AI chatbots in the context of classroom teaching and small-scale guided scientific inquiry activities. The research aims to increase meaningful learning opportunities and high-quality interactions between teachers and students by introducing learning topics and methods and providing feedback on expected questions. The study also provides opportunities for students to determine their own research methods so that chatbots can be used effectively in designing scientific inquiry learning in a way that enhances student initiative. The research involved 18 participants, consisting of 11 fifth-grade students and 7 sixth-grade students, with 15 of them being male and 3 being female. The participants were studying science activities in a science talent program for 1 year run by a university. These talented students voluntarily participated in various science activities for 3 hours every two weeks. The paper discusses the benefits of using chatbots in education, such as increasing student engagement and participation, providing personalized learning experiences, and enabling automatic assessment of student responses. Additionally, the paper provides examples of chatbots that have been used in educational contexts, such as language learning, mental health support, and academic advising. In conclusion, the use of AI chatbots in education has the potential to revolutionize the way we teach and learn. By providing personalized learning experiences, increasing student engagement and participation, and enabling automatic assessment of student responses, chatbots can enhance the quality of education and make it more accessible to a wider range of learners. The study suggests that AI chatbots can be used effectively in designing scientific inquiry learning in a way that enhances student initiative. Further research is needed to explore the full potential of AI chatbots in education

Islamic boarding schools, as traditional Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, play a central role in preserving and promoting Islamic religious and cultural traditions. One of the important elements of education in Islamic boarding schools is the teaching of Arabic. Arabic is not only a means of understanding the teachings of Islam but also a gateway to the rich intellectual heritage of the Islamic world. This qualitative research uses open questionnaires as a data collection technique. The questionnaires were distributed to Arabic teachers in seven Islamic boarding schools in Situbondo. The results cite the strengths of Islamic boarding schools in the form of their long-standing tradition of teaching Arabic and Islamic culture, the presence of knowledgeable teachers, a focus on memorizing the Quran, and a communal learning environment. However, weaknesses in the traditional curriculum may overlook practical aspects such as the use of digital technology in Arabic language learning in the modern world. To improve Arabic language learning in Islamic boarding schools, it is important to address the practical aspects of the language, maximize opportunities for collaboration and adoption of technology, and address challenges such as cultural and social change and competition from formal educational institutions offering Arabic language instruction

The development of skipjack chili sauce products has proven to be an innovative solution for improving the economy of coastal communities, particularly in Gebangan Village. This study employs the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, engaging the community in the entire process of production, marketing, and evaluation. The findings indicate that the implementation of digital marketing strategies via WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok increased sales by 40% within the first two months. Additionally, the average monthly income of participants increased by IDR 750,000 - IDR 1,200,000, and 15 housewives, who previously had no steady income, are now actively involved in the production and marketing of skipjack chili sauce. In terms of product quality, using glass bottles for packaging extended the product's shelf life to 45 days under cold storage conditions. However, challenges remain in digital literacy, limited access to capital, and fluctuations in raw material prices. Thus, further training in business management and digital marketing strategies is necessary to ensure the sustainability of this local product-based business. This research contributes to an economic empowerment model based on fishery resources, which can be adapted to other coastal communities

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
