Umami and Satiety
No full textThis chapter evaluates evidence from human studies that umami taste may enhance satiety. The author elaborates on the idea that humans evolved umami taste to detect and regulate protein intake, providing wider evidence that protein intake is more tightly regulated than other macronutrients and discussing specific evidence that protein is the most satiating. Three strands of evidence that suggest umami may have a role in satiety are evaluated. (1) Evidence from key studies that tested acute effects of manipulated umami taste on satiety in adult volunteers suggests that umami may enhance satiety, especially when coupled with protein intake. (2) A review of studies exploring the role of umami in infant feeding suggests that augmenting umami taste in bottle-fed babies leads to slower growth, implying that the presence of umami taste leads to greater satiety. (3) Evidence from studies exploring responses to umami in relation to protein deprivation suggests that sensitivity to umami varies depending on both acute and habitual protein need state, consistent with a regulatory role for umami involving satiety. This chapter draws these strands of evidence together to suggest two possible models of umami-induced satiety while noting limitations in the data that warrant further investigation.</p

asuransi pengangkutan. Dalam rangka memberikan pelayanan terbaik, PT.
Asuransi Wahana Tata Cabang Jember selalu mengedepankan kepercayaan
nasabahnya dengan motto “aswata asuransi terpercaya”.
Berdasarkan tujuan dan pembahasan dari hasil kegiatan Praktek Kerja
Nyata pada PT. Asuransi Wahana Tata cabang Jember dengan judul Prosedur
Klaim Asuransi Kendaraan Bermotor pada PT. Asuransi Wahana Tata Cabang
Jember, dapat diambil kesimpulan sebagai berikut:
1. Prosedur klaim asuransi kendaraan bermotor memiliki 3 tahapan yaitu:
a. Pengajuaan klaim, menerima laporan dari tertanggung dengan membawa
beberapa persyaratan klaim seperti foto copy KTP tertanggung, foto copy
STNK kendaraan yang diasuransikan, foto copy SIM pengemudi, foto copy
polis asuransi, surat kepolisian (dibutuhkan sebagai persyaratan pendukung)
selambat-lambatnya 5 hari kalender sejak terjadinya kerugian dan/atau
kerusakan. Kemudian bagian klaim melakukan pemeriksaan polis untuk
untuk menentukan polis tersebut valid atau tidak valid. Apabila valid maka
akan dilakukan tahap penanganan klaim.
b. Penanganan klaim dilakukan oleh bagian klaim setelah polis dinyatakan
valid yaitu dengan melakukan survei pada kendaraan yang mengalami
kerugian dan kemudian dilakukan registrasi pengisian form laporan
kerugian, pembuatan estimasi harga dan jumlah part yang diperbaiki oleh
bengkel yang kemudian dikirimkan kepada internal adjuster untuk
dilakukan adjusment dan persetujuan, apabila estimasi sesuai maka bagian
klaim akan menerbitkan surat perintah kerja untuk bengkel rekanan
melakukan pebaikan kendaraan sesuai dengan surat perintah kerja. Tahap
penanganan klaim sampai pada kendaraan telah diperbaiki oleh bengkel
rekanan
URGENSI KEBIJAKAN PEMEKARAN DAERAH OTONOM BARU ACEH MALAKA
No full textAs a candidate for the new autonomous region for the division of North Aceh Regency, Aceh Malacca has been voiced by community leaders in the western province of North Aceh since 2004. The research objective was to determine and analyze the background that underlies the emergence of the idea of the expansion of the Aceh Malacca district and the urgency of the policy for the expansion of the Malacca Regency area. Findings of this qualitative study could be reported that the background that underlies the emergence of the idea of the expansion of the Aceh Malacca district includes aspects of the political dimension, administrative or technical dimension, and the dimensions of the regional disparity aspect. The urgency of the policy for the expansion of the Malacca Regency area is for the context of improving and accelerating public services, including maximizing public benefits, time efficiency in managing all administrative needs, and regional independence in managing its regional potential. It is recommended that the Central Government reopen the moratorium on expansion so that the Aceh Malacca District can be realized to improve welfare and public services in the region.Aceh Malaka sebagai calon daerah otonom baru pemekaran dari Kabupaten Aceh Utara, disuarakan tokoh-tokoh masyarakat wilayah barat Aceh Utara sejak tahun 2004, berbagai persiapan telah dilakukan mulai pembentukan panitia dan pemenuhan persyaratan teknis serta administratif. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis latar belakang yang mendasari munculnya ide pemekaran wilayah Kabupaten Aceh Malaka dan urgensi kebijakan pemekaran wilayah Kabupaten Malaka. Metode Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif analys. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa latar belakang yang mendasari munculnya ide pemekaran wilayah Kabupaten Aceh Malaka meliputi aspek dimensi politik yang akan melahirkan pemerintah baru, akan lebih dekat dengan masyarakat wilayah barat. Selanjutnya dari aspek dimensi administrasi atau teknis bahwa besarnya wilayah Kabupaten Aceh Utara saat ini sehingga menyulitkan akses masyarakat dari wilayah barat untuk mendapatkan akses pelayanan administrasi. Dari segi aspek dimensi kesenjangan wilayah akan mengatasi permasalahan kecemburuan sosial antar masyarakat dengan menumpuknya pengangguran diwilayah barat. Urgensi kebijakan pemekaran wilayah Kabupaten Malaka dalam rangka perbaikan dan percepatan layanan publik meliputi memaksimalkan pelayanan publik, efesiensi waktu dalam mengurus semua keperluan administrasi dan kemandirian wilayah dalam mengelola sendiri potensi daerahnya. Disarankan kepada Pemerintah Pusat untuk membuka kembali moratorium pemekaran agar terwujud Kabupaten Aceh Malaka untuk peningkatan kesejahteraan dan pelayanan publik di wilayah terseb
The Art of Learning Community: Technology and Gamification As A Recipe For Learning Umami
No full textHow can arts, technology, mobile apps, and a learning community be used as flavors to create an engaging learning platform to motivate students?School reform efforts purport to create engaged learners that can think creatively beyond the standards, however, teachers struggle with how to reconcile the culture of standardized testing with the learner engagement and motivation that is key to student success. When designing learning experiences that promote creativity, via information and computer technology, teachers need to adopt an ecological approach that encompasses people, practices, values, and technology interacting- with the spotlight being on human activities. The Japanese word umami describes how humans engage all senses to form judgments about their food. This provides an apt metaphor for instructional design. Food should be nourishing, presentable, and delicious- a feast for the senses. This is a worthy standard for any lesson- the goal of “learning umami.” The author proposed to create an analogous process in crafting an online learning community (http://edvislee.wix.com/rehearse-for-life), which consists of a mash-up of tools, apps, content, gamification, and collaboration with artists as “flavors” for engagement. This paper will review the community’s features before and after modifications, discuss design implications and rationale for changes, and make recommendations for additional improvements. The results demonstrate how pedagogy, design, and evaluation can be used to tailor existing apps, tools, services, and content to create a compelling learning community to meet any instructional design challenge

using language in writing recount text; (4) to observe whether sex difference affect use of language in writing recount text. The problem had been analyzed through comparative qualitative approach that is held in MTs Miftahul Khoirot Ungaran Semarang. The subject of this research was the students of class VIII C of the school. The data was gathered through observation, documentation, and interview. The result of this study showed that there are several differences of male and female students in writing recount text. The differences between them are (1) Most of them (male and female students) had problem about tenses, verb, spelling, linking verb, pronoun and connection; (2) there was a difference between male and
female writing that was topic they used. Male students’ writing was about outdoor activity. Yet, female students’ writing was about indoor activity; (3) there are three factors which affected the differences between male and female in writing recount text.
