Normativity, moral realism, and unmasking explanations

    No full text
Moral Projectivism must be able to specify under what conditions a certain inner response counts as a moral response. I argue, however, that moral projectivists cannot coherently do so because they must assume that there are moral properties in the world in order to fix the content of our moral judgements. To show this, I develop a number of arguments against moral dispositionalism, which is, nowadays, the most promising version of moral projectivism. In this context, I call into question both David Lewis' dispositionalist account of colour and Chistine Korsgaard's procedural realism

Research on political communication in the Valencia Country is burgeoning and the results so far could be described as unfocused. The design of both personal work and subsequent research has been influenced by the way in which communication programs in the Valencia universities are designed; these young programs seem, perhaps, rather novice regarding research. Of the areas related to political communication, the one that has aroused most interest among Valencian scholars is theoretical analysis of public opinion. Also noteworthy is analysis of political campaigns and communication tools, both regional and statewide. Despite the well intended nature of the research, reflected in the quantity and character of production, the lack of an institutionally-promoted research context impedes coordinated, organized research. Filling this gap would be highly beneficial, considering the fundamental relationship between political communication and democracy

Este artículo se encuentra disponible en la siguiente URL: https://ojs.uv.es/index.php/Metode/article/view/7188/7809Este monográfico lleva por título "Science grid : the public understanding of science".Rare diseases (RDs) are those that affect fewer than five people in every 10,000. There are around 7,000 RDs, they are difficult to diagnose and very few have a treatment. This article explores how the media report on the arguments and counter-arguments regarding the access to drugs for these pathologies, with critical discourse analysis for the case of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. We concluded that, in times of crisis, the debate polarises around economic arguments (the price of drugs), reinforced by doubts about their healing effectiveness

Today, Spain is an advanced country in the field of sport for people with disabilities. However, there are yet situations of social and economic discrimination. Surely the media have powerfully influenced for improve the image of these athletes with disabilities, but still they use to give the sport for people with disabilities much less coverage than they give to other sports. From a sociological point of view, the study of sport is consolidating as a scientific area and in recent decades it has highlighted the connections between sport and society in various fields. In particular, sport for people with disabilities has become one of the areas that has evolved, especially in relation to their physical, psychological and social benefits. However, the study area relating adapted sports and mass communication is poorly developed in Spain and the references are still sporadic. The aim of this article is to show the current state of studies on sport for people with disabilities from the point of view of sociology and communication sciences in Spain, as well as the relevance of deepening these studies to achieve understanding and, as far as possible, improve the situation of these people.

    No full text
In this study, the author makes a comparative analysis of two Catalan versions of the first canto of Dante's Divine Comedy. These two versiones, separated by a great distance in time, are, first, the translation that Andreu Febrer made at the beginning of the 15th century and, second, that which Josep Maria de Sagarra began to publish in fragments in La Veu de Catalunya (The Voice of Catalonia) in the year 1935. The latter translation, reconstituted, was brought to light between 1950 and 1952 by the publishing house Selecta of Barcelona. This analysis, which attempts to be exhaustive, ranges from treatment of rhyme and versification to language, among other considerations. The orientation of this work is within the sphere of the discussion «literal translation vs. free translation» -concepts represented by the translations under consideration- which the author has developed in depth in his doctoral thesis
