BOOK REVIEW OF MATILDA WRITTEN BY ROALD DAHL

Matilda of Canossa
Matilda of Canossa, Countess of Tuscany, was born in 1046 to a noble family in northern Italy. She could have ended like so many other noble women during her time, as a simple tool with which to form marriage alliances between leading houses. However, with the support and mentorship of her mother, Matilda became a ruler in her own right.
Matilda was not only in full control of her own estate, she also commanded her own army and kept additional territory in Italy. In addition, she had close ties to the pope himself, Gregory VII. Matilda managed her monetary, military, and political assets in such a cunning way that she rose to be one of the most influential women of her time. The two most important rulers of the time, the Holy Roman Emperor and the pope, fully recognised Matilda’s value as an asset, and found themselves with either a powerful ally or a powerful enemy in her.Peer reviewedstudent peer-reviewed journal articlefinal article publishe
Evolution of Emotions from the Movie Matilda 1996 to the Movie Matilda 2022 (Comparative Analysis Study)
This research aims to compare the emotions depicted in the main character in the 1996 movie Matilda to the movie Matilda in 2022. This research investigates the emotional evolution that occurs from the movie Matilda 1996 to the movie Matilda 2022. This research is comparative diachronic research by Zepetnek theory and uses a character psychology approach in literary works. In obtaining data, this research was analyzed using Elizabeth B. Hurlok\u27s theory of children\u27s emotions and applying qualitative descriptive methods with notetaking as a research instrument. The results of this research show that there are types of emotions children get from the character Matilda: emotions of anger, joy or happiness, grief, curiosity, fear and affection. Therefore, the researchers concluded that the emotions that occur in the character Matilda from the 1996 movie Matilda to the movie Matilda 2022 show that Matilda 2022 is more aggressive, more expressive, and braver than the movie Matilda 1996. Overall, this research reveals evolution of emotions that are influenced by the author\u27s mindset towards children\u27s characters related to current developments
Tiimin resilienssikyky koronapandemian aikana
The global Covid-19 pandemic has enhanced discussion of team resilience in companies. This thesis discusses team resilience, the factors affecting it and how resilience becomes apparent in changing circumstances. The aim of the thesis is to provide information about the importance of team resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic and which factors have the most significant impact on team resilience.
Six principals who are entrepreneur and supervisor of micro and small companies from southern and western Finland were interviewed for the study. Theme interviews were conducted during June and August. Qualitative content analysis was used in the analysis. The names of the interviewees and the identification information of the companies have been anonymized in the transcription process.
According to the results of the study, team resilience has a significant impact on how teams cope with change, because the importance of social support and performance during change has been significant for teams. The results indicate that the factors affecting team resilience and coping with change are 1) change management and leader’s resilience, 2) attitude towards change, 3) open, confidential, communal and supportive team culture, 4) the ability to execute and 5) commitment to a common goal.
The author of thesis will use results of the research when she is building the first coaching package of a future business. In addition, the study provided information and confirmed the theory about the importance of team resilience in a changing situation. The results of the thesis will certainly help other companies in case of future change situations and the development of the team's resilience. Author of thesis thinks that she managed to answer the research question of the thesis. An interesting topic for further research would be research on how the second wave of the corona pandemic affects the resilience of the team and what possible differences in the results from the first study would be noted

Expression of CXCL10 is associated with response to radiotherapy and overall survival in squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue
Five-year survival for patients with oral cancer has been disappointingly stable during the last decades, creating a demand for new biomarkers and treatment targets. Lately, much focus has been set on immunomodulation as a possible treatment or an adjuvant increasing sensitivity to conventional treatments. The objective of this study was to evaluate the prognostic importance of response to radiotherapy in tongue carcinoma patients as well as the expression of the CXC-chemokines in correlation to radiation response in the same group of tumours. Thirty-eight patients with tongue carcinoma that had received radiotherapy followed by surgery were included. The prognostic impact of pathological response to radiotherapy, N-status, T-stage, age and gender was evaluated using Cox's regression models, Kaplan-Meier survival curves and chi-square test. The expression of 23 CXC-chemokine ligands and their receptors were evaluated in all patients using microarray and qPCR and correlated with response to treatment using logistic regression. Pathological response to radiotherapy was independently associated to overall survival with a 2-year survival probability of 81 % for patients showing a complete pathological response, while patients with a non-complete response only had a probability of 42 % to survive for 2 years (p = 0.016). The expression of one CXC-chemokine, CXCL10, was significantly associated with response to radiotherapy and the group of patients with the highest CXCL10 expression responded, especially poorly (p = 0.01). CXCL10 is a potential marker for response to radiotherapy and overall survival in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue
Gender Inequalities on Women Roald Dahl's Matilda
Every community develops a defferent gender identity, but most societies distinguish between men and women with masculine and feminine. Masculine synonymous with strong, bread winner, and aggressive. While the feminine is identical to meek, struggling in the domestic sector (home), passive, and others. The role distinction of men and women that this occurred which resulted in gender inequalities, particularly against women. Mirroring that concept, this research focuses on problem; 1) What are the causes of the gender inequalities in Roald Dahl’s Matilda ? 2) How are the gender inequalities described in Roald Dahl’s Matilda? The aim of this study is to know the research attitude of inequitable gender in Roald Dahl’s Matilda.
To in line with the problem laid use descriptive qualitative method. It was conducted by collecting and analyzing relevant data. The subject of this study, gender inequalities toward women of Roald Dahl’s Matilda. And the object research is Novel Roald Dahl’s Matilda.
Based on research conducted, researchers found 16 issues gander inequalities against women. Five of them are the cause of gender inequalities and later eleven of them is description of gender inequalities against women in novel Matilda by Roald Dahl. Gender inequality manifests in various form of inequality, especially in women, such as stereotyping, marginalization and subordination of women and discriminstion against women. But, along with teh development of the time, women could compate with men and enforcing gender inequalities.
It is hoped that this studycan provide the benefits for the readers, such as additional insight to the reader about research literature, especially about the study entitled "Gender Inequalities on Women Roald Dahl’s Matilda."To add insights of the author in the study of literature, like literature imaginative or non-imaginative.And can be used for understanding gender inequalities against women in Roland Dahl’s Matilda, as well as input and consideration in the research of other literary works.

The use of formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue and global gene expression profiling for increased understanding of squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue
Head and neck cancer is the 6th most common malignancy worldwide, with tumours of the tongue being one of the most prevalent sites. Despite advances in surgery and radiotherapy, the five-year survival has not changed during the last decades and remains at approximately 50%. Identification of novel biomarkers for more personalized treatment is important for increasing survival in these patients. One of the most commonly used methods in the search for new biomarkers is microarray analysis. A substantial limitation with this technique is the requirement for fresh frozen samples from which high quality RNA can be extracted. This becomes particularly problematic when attempting to discover differences associated with individual sub-types or rare cancers. Recent developments, including the DASL microarray platform, have provided the possibility of analysing RNA of poorer quality from formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) samples. FFPE is the standard way of preserving tissue from patients and millions of samples are stored around the world. In this thesis we have evaluated the use of FFPE samples and global gene expression profiling for increasing basic knowledge in a subgroup of oral cancer patients with tumours of the tongue. As confirmation of microarray results using qPCR is of outmost importance for conclusive data evaluation, we first aimed at finding a housekeeping gene stably expressed across malignant and non-malignant FFPE oral tissue. TUBA6, which belongs to the tubulin family was detected as being the most stable out of eight possible genes and was thus used for qPCR normalization throughout the following studies. We have performed three separate microarray experiments. Initially only a focused DASL array covering 502 cancer related genes was available and we used it to analyze a smaller cohort of patients and controls (n=36). A similar cohort (n=29) was also analyzed for expression of 836 micoRNAs. In 2009 a whole genome DASL array was launched, covering over 20,000 genes, and all tongue tumour samples available between 1997 and 2010 (n=87) were analysed using this array. Similar to other research groups we observed very high replicate reproducibility using both DASL arrays. When using the microRNA array and the whole genome DASL array an effect of sample quality on the detected expression level of individual genes was noticed. While the expression of some genes severely decreased with a decrease in sample quality others were not changed. This will impair normalization, leading to a residual non-biological variation within the data. Based on our findings we have presented some recommendations for minimizing the effect of sample quality and maximizing the level of biologically relevant information obtained from these experiments, e.g. ensuring that samples in groups to be compared are of the same quality range. For the microRNA data we also introduced an additional normalization step to the standard normalizations. We could show that lists of differentially expressed genes generated when taking these precautions were enriched for genes involved in cancer related processes and contained for tongue carcinoma previously identified changes. A number of differentially expressed genes, novel for tongue carcinoma, were also confirmed in high quality fresh frozen samples, including BCL2A1 (apoptosis), CXCL10 (immune response), SLC2A6 (energy transport) and miR-424 (angiogenesis). In conclusion microarrays can be used to analyze FFPE samples but should be performed with care. Standard normalization methods will not remove the variation introduced by samples being of different quality, leading to spurious results. Taking a few precautions, however, led to the identification of differentially expressed genes relevant in tumour development and maintenance. The recommendations we make can facilitate design of future studies using FFPE samples. The genes we identified as being differentially expressed in tumour tissue now need to be further evaluated for their potential as biomarkers in tongue carcinoma
The Art of Inventing Matilda of Canossa
abstract: Matilda of Canossa (1046 to 1115), the Great Countess of Tuscany, was a noblewoman, a warrior, and a papal supporter who later generations adapted to satisfy a variety of cultural and ideological interests. Matilda's life as a ruler was amplified over the following five hundred years in an avalanche of words and images that served many purposes. This thesis considers the art produced during her lifetime in the context of disputes over papal authority, as well as art produced about Matilda subsequently. The study includes a discussion of her appearance in Dante's Comedy; her importance to Florentine artists such as Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo Buonarroti in the 16th century; and concludes with the significance of the elaborate tomb sculpted for her reburial by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in St. Peter's Cathedral. An examination of Matilda through these shifting representations from the 12th to the 17th century enables an understanding of how and why she became an impressive symbol in the visual arts. Finally, the study examines the process through which a strong, powerful woman was transformed from an historical person to a legend. Matilda's remarkable life and myth is still relevant to art historical, religious and cultural studies because of the pervasiveness of her influence a millennium after her death.Dissertation/ThesisM.A. Art History 201
