Introducing Iqbal the Economist
No full textThe Iqbal Memorial Lecture was instituted in 1994 when the Pakistan Society of Development Economists (PSDE) celebrated the completion of a decade of steady progress. A brief announcement stated: “The Iqbal Memorial Lecture attributed to the national poet [Emphasis added], Allama Muhammad Iqbal has been included in the programme for the first time. Professor Ian M. D. Little is delivering that lecture” [Secretary’s Report (1994), p. 1472]. Iqbal, the poet and philosopher par excellence, has made incisive remarks or comments on economic and social issues in his poetry, philosophical writings, and in the course of his discourses as well as some famous letters, particularly those written to the Quaid-i-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. But these do not make Iqbal an economist. The Secretary of the PSDE was, therefore, careful in observing that the lecture commemorates our “national poet”. However, it will be of great interest to this largest national congregation of economists and other scholars concerned with development to know that the very first published book of Iqbal related neither to poetry nor philosophy, but economics. It was written in Urdu. He also taught the subject at undergraduate and Master’s level, even though he had not studied it as a student. At the Government College, Lahore, Iqbal studied English, Philosophy and Arabic for his B.A. and then completed the M.A. in Philosophy.

No full textKajian tafsir-tafsir di Indonesia selalu menarik untuk dikaji, karena selain banyak ragam penafsiran yang terkandung di dalamnya, banyak juga tafsir-tafsir di Indonesia yang belum terjamah atau masih sedikit yang mengkaji. Salah satu kitab tafsir tersebut adalah kitab Tafsir Surat Al-Fatihah KH. Suhami Rafiuddin Banyuwangi. Penulis merasa perlu meneliti kitab tersebut karena kitab tersebut juga bagian dari khazanah dari tafsir di Indonesia yang masih jarang diteliti.
Fokus kajian dalam penelitian adalah salah satu karya dari KH. Suhaimi Rafiuddin yaitu kitab yang berjudul Tafsir Surat Al-Fatihah dengan menggunakan pendekatan epistemologi tafsir. Epistemologi dipilih sebagai pisau analisis utama dengan tambahan metodologi tafsir Islah Gusmian sebagai teori pelengkap dalam menentukan karakteristik tafsir. Sehingga menghasilkan tiga pertanyaan yaitu: bagaimana setting historis penafsir beserta kitabnya, bagaimana epistemologi kitab Tafsir Surat Al-Fatihah KH. Suhaimi, serta apa karakteristik dari kitab tersebut.
Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa kitab Tafsir Surat Al-Fatihah terlahir dari seorang ulama sekaligus aktivis organisasi agama di daerah Banyuwangi yaitu KH. Suhaimi Rafiuddin. Dengan latar belakang keilmuan penafsir maka pada gilirannya hal tersebut berimplikasi terhadap penafsiran yang dibangun dalam kitab tafsirnya. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan epistemologi, maka dapat diketahui bahwa dalam melakukan penafsiran, Pertama KH. Suhaimi menggunakan sumber Al-Qur’an, Hadis, kitab tafsir terdahulu, qirā’at, dan pendapat mufassir sendiri. Kedua, bentuk tafsirnya adalah al-iqtirān, dengan metode taḥlīli, serta bercorak lughawī, ṣūfy dan adābi ijmitā’i. Ketiga, dalam hal validitasnya, penafsiran KH. Suhaimi kurang sesuai dengan teori koherensi, korespondensi, tetapi sesuai dengan teori pragmatisme

In this report, the whole new look and image of Sani Express Sdn. Bhd. is proposed smoothly according to the design process and material presented through reading, lecture and design projects. This proposal which reflects the whole new look of Sani Express new office covers every department beginning from the reception, workstation to staff lounge. It is proposed for Sani Express to have the “Transparent through Modernity” concept which is fully based on their company’s profile, design portfolio and company’s logo which is in white, red and black letterings that defines a design-oriented approach to their business yet gives greater visibility in the market

No full textThis research aims to identify the character education values contained in the book Washaya al-Aba' li al-Abna Muhammad Syakir and the role of his opinion on the richness of character education values. It is hoped that this research can be used as a source or reference in efforts to develop education and character as a whole, especially character education according to Islam. It can also be used as a reference to facilitate understanding of character education and as a reference for relevant research in the future. This research method is qualitative and uses a narrative biography method. By using a descriptive presentation approach, this autobiography of the character's thoughts combines the ideas of character education from his work. Library research, or library research, is a research method that involves books, articles, notes and electronic media. with primary sources from the book Washaya al Aba Li al-Abna and secondary sources from study books. In this research, data collection was carried out through the documentation method, which includes searching for data through variables such as notes, books, and articles, among others. The author used a content analysis study to analyze the data; they analyzed the data textually based on the contents of the book. The research results show that the book Washaya al Aba Li al-Abna contains 17 educational character values, divided into two categories: 10 character values fall into the moral category and 7 character values fall into the performance category. Faith and piety, love and obedience to the Messenger of Allah, respect for parents, respect for teachers, truth or honesty, nobility or self-respect, patience, sincerity and a simple life are moral characters. Performance characteristics also include trust, discipline, hard work, never giving up, love of the country, interest in reading or literacy knowledge, and concern for the environment

Most of the equity investors or also known as retail investor do not have the sufficient knowledge of basic economic concepts required to make investment decisions. Therefore, this research is to find out what factors that make investors select shariah compliant securities as the statistics show in increasing over the year. Tuduhan orang Islam bahwa kitab suci Yahudi dan Kristen telah dipalsukan, diubah dan diganti telah didiskusikan secara luas oleh sejumlah sarjana pada awal tahun 1877, Moritz Steinschneider menyajikan studi mendetil seputar tuduhan pemalsuan dalam karya Ibn Hazm, al-Ghazali dan Ibn Taymiyah. Kajian yang terbaru memperlihatkan bahwa para ulama muslim menjadikan tuduhan pemalsuan kitab suci sebagai bagian penting polemic mereka terhadap orang Yahudi dan Kristen. Fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana Muhammad Husain Thabathaba’i mengartikan tahrif atau penyimpangan. Thabathaba’i salah satu mufaassir yang menghindari klaim yang meragukan ke validan kitab suci dengan pandangannya sendiri.
