Southern Cross University Artists Book Collection

    No full text
<p> The Artists’ Books Collection consists of nearly 120 artists’ books and 10 artists’ books reference items.  The collection is housed in the Manning Clark Room in the SCU Library in proper preservation and storage conditions.</p> <p> The Collection includes books by notable artists. International artists include Dieter Roth, Tara O’Brien, Sarah Bodman and Christian Boltanski. Australian artists represented include Robert Jacks, Doug Spowart, Ron Burnie and Judy Watson.</p> <p> Southern Cross University has until recently held an annual or biennial Acquisitive Artists’ Book Award and artists’ books were chosen from the exhibition for inclusion in the library collection. These include works by Monica Oppen (<em>Botanikos</em>), Victoria Cooper (<em>Googling up 10+</em>) and Tacee-Lea Jones (<em>Just turn the key</em>).</p&gt

    Cross-Cultural Meta-Analyses

    No full text
In the enormous collection of cross-cultural data that have been published during the last few decades it is difficult to perceive patterns. There is a clear need for systematizing the vast amount of cross-cultural studies and for developing models that explain cross-cultural differences in psychology. Two methods of cross-cultural meta-analysis can be distinguished. First, the instrument-based method of comparing data for one instrument across countries is suitable for instruments which have been administered in many countries. Second, a domain-based meta-analysis used a thematic domain from which culture-comparative studies are sampled instead of one specific instrument or method

    Cross-Border Cooperation: Subverting Sovereignty?

    No full text
Work on European spatial planning has led me to criticise what I call territorialism. It conceives of the world in terms of a seamless cover of sovereign stateslooking after its territory each as if it were its property. In the European Unionthough, states are enveloped by a superstructure. Does this mean that there is aEuropean territory and, if so, how does it relate to the territories of its MemberStates? The issue becomes manifest in such efforts, as there have been undertaken,to arrive at a form of European spatial planning.Spatial Planning and Strateg

Cross section measurements of the Y89(p,γ)Zr90 reaction at energies relevant to p-process nucleosynthesis

    No full text
In beam angle-integrated cross section measurements of the 89Y(p, γ)90Zr reaction were carried out at E p = 1.7-4.8 MeV by using a 4π NaI(Tl) summing detector. The resulting cross sections were used to derive astrophysical 5 factors as well as reaction rates. Cross sections, S factors and reaction rates have also been calculated by means of the statistical model code MOST. A good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental data was found.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Measurement of the differential cross-section of B+ meson production in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV at ATLAS

    No full text
The production cross-section of B+ mesons is measured as a function of transverse momentum p T and rapidity y in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energy root s = 7 TeV, using 2.4 fb(-1) of data recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The differential production cross-sections, determined in the range 9 GeV < p(T) < 120 GeV and vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.25, are compared to next-to-leading-order theoretical predictions

Genetic and epigenetic complexity in myeloproliferative neoplasms

    No full text
The past 7 years have witnessed remarkable progress in our understanding of the genetics of BCR-ABL-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and has revealed layers of unexpected complexity. Deregulation of JAK2 signaling has emerged as a central feature, but despite having biological activities that recapitulate the cardinal features MPNs in model systems, JAK2 mutations are often secondary events. Several other mutated genes have been identified with a common theme of involvement in the epigenetic control of gene expression. Remarkably, the somatic mutations identified to date do not seem to be acquired in any preferred order, and it is possible that the disease-initiating events remain to be identified. The finding of complex clonal hierarchies in many cases suggests genetic instability that, in principle, may be inherited or acquired. A common haplotype has been identified that is strongly associated with the acquisition of JAK2 mutations, but the cause of relatively high-penetrance familial predisposition to MPNs remains elusive. This review summarizes the established facts relating to the genetics of MPNs, but highlights recent findings and areas of controversy.<br/
