    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Hukum dan Rukhsah Puasa dalam Perspektif Fakhrudin al-Razi dan Musthafa al-Maraghi: Studi Interpretasi dengan Pendekatan Tafsir Ahkam

    Artikel ini membahas kewajiban, tujuan (maqashid), dan rukhsah (keringanan) puasa Ramadhan sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam al-Qur’an, dengan pendekatan perbandingan tafsir antara Fakhruddin al-Razi dan Musthafa al-Maraghi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tafsir muqaran untuk menganalisis perbedaan penafsiran kedua ulama terhadap surah al-Baqarah ayat 183-185. Hasil dari penelitian ialah: Pertama, kewajiban puasa dalam al-Qur’an diturunkan dalam dua tahap. Tahap pertama menjelaskan kewajiban puasa bagi umat terdahulu pada hari-hari tertentu (QS. al-Baqarah: 183-184), sementara tahap kedua menetapkan puasa wajib pada bulan Ramadhan (QS. al-Baqarah: 185). Al-Maraghi menafsirkan frasa ayyāmam ma’dūdāt sebagai bulan Ramadhan, sedangkan al-Razi memberikan dua tafsiran: puasa wajib selain Ramadhan dan puasa Ramadhan dengan penjelasan di ayat 185. Kedua, terkait rukhsah (keringanan) puasa Ramadhan, al-Maraghi menafsirkannya sesuai teks ayat, sementara al-Razi memberikan tafsiran lebih luas dengan mengakomodasi pendapat ulama, termasuk rukhsah bagi wanita hamil dan menyusui. Ketiga, tujuan rukhsah adalah memberikan kemudahan bagi umat yang mengalami kesulitan dalam melaksanakan puasa, serta mengajarkan rasa syukur atas nikmat keringanan tersebut.This article discusses the obligation, objectives (maqashid), and dispensation (rukhsah) of fasting during Ramadan as explained in the Qur\u27an, using a comparative tafsir approach between Fakhruddin al-Razi and Musthafa al-Maraghi. The study employs the tafsir muqaran method to analyze the differences in interpretation of surah al-Baqarah verses 183-185 by these two scholars. The findings of the study are as follows: First, the obligation of fasting in the Qur\u27an was revealed in two stages. The first stage explains the obligation of fasting for previous nations on specific days (QS. al-Baqarah: 183-184), while the second stage establishes the obligation of fasting during the month of Ramadan (QS. al-Baqarah: 185). Al-Maraghi interprets the phrase ayyāmam ma’dūdāt as referring to the month of Ramadan, whereas al-Razi offers two interpretations: mandatory fasting beyond Ramadan and fasting in Ramadan with the explanation provided in verse 185. Second, regarding the rukhsah (dispensation) for fasting during Ramadan, al-Maraghi interprets it according to the literal meaning of the verse, while al-Razi provides a broader interpretation, accommodating scholarly opinions, including dispensation for pregnant  and  nursing women. Third, the purpose of rukhsah is to provide ease for those who face difficulties in performing the fast, and to instill gratitude for the blessing of this dispensation.تتناول هذه المقالة واجبات ومقاصد ورخص صيام رمضان كما بينها القرآن، مع منهج مقارن في التفسير بين فخر الدين الرازي ومصطفى المراغي. يستخدم هذا البحث منهج التفسير المقرن لتحليل الاختلافات في تفسيرات العلماء لسورة البقرة، الآيات 183-185. نتائج البحث هي: أولاً، نزل وجوب الصيام في القرآن على مرحلتين. المرحلة الأولى توضح وجوب صيام من سبقهم من أيام معينة (البقرة: 183-184)، بينما المرحلة الثانية تنص على وجوب صيام شهر رمضان (البقرة: 185). وفسر المراغي جملة أيام معوضات بأنها شهر رمضان، بينما فسر الرازي تفسيرين: وجوب صيام غير رمضان، وصيام رمضان بشرح الآية 185. ثانيا: في رخص صيام رمضان. ففسره المراغي بنص الآية، بينما قدم الرازي تفسيراً أوسع بقبول آراء العلماء، بما في ذلك الرخصة للحامل والمرضع. ثالثاً: غاية الرخصة هي التيسير على من يواجه صعوبة في الصيام، وتعليم الشكر على نعمة الرخصة

Educational activities are organized according to the Pesantren's rules and  based on the principle of religion. In the era of reformation, openness and globalization, in order to maintain the quality of pesantren output, it was imperative that the leadership of Pesantren should be prioritized professionalism so that the implementation of pesantren education which leaded to quality assurance of graduates was always maintained, and throughout the period expected Pesantren continue to be able to produce a generation that can  be existed acting in various life of society

    The Rhetorical Discourse Revealing The Indonesians Characters

    Indonesia comprises of many tribes and language spreading all over its islands from Sabang to Merauki. The tribes and their languages are unique symbolizing that they are heterogeneous society who live in a place named Indonesia. They live in harmony and they are happy being Indonesians. This can happen because they have one motto unity in diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika) and a sacred symbol of five principles Pancasila. The symbol of Pancasila and a motto unity in diversity motivate the world to see the unique and harmonious country and its people. What are the real characters of Indonesian and how they are represented in the rhetorical discourse presented by formal speech of president of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo in delivering speech on Pancasila Day 1 June 2017. This article wants to elaborates the characters of Indonesians and the way they are presented in the discourse. This article uses critical discourse of analysis and systemic functional linguistic. This article uses critical discourse analysis and the systemic functional linguistic because the discourse being release is not appearing without any sense. There is a background which escorting the releasing of this discourse. This article finds out that Indonesians have to return to their real original characteristic, such as gotong Royong (supporting each other), Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity and diversity) and toleransi (tolerance). They are folded within Pancasila (five principles). Theseidentifications of characteristic are released because the values of Pancasila have been neglected by many group of people after reformation era. As examples are the tolerance is decreasing, the unity in diversity has been disturbed by the existence of other ideology in which it is contradictory to Pancasila. This article found out that there are thre domain idenification of the Indonesian peole that shuld be reestablished. They are supporting each other, unity in diversity and the tolence. They become the pride of the Indonesians and they become the examplary nation which applies the high tolerance among its people. The depicted identifications are clearly stated in the official speech presented by President Joko Widodo in the celebration of Pancasila day 2017.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    Pendidikan Fikih Multy Madhab di Pesantren: studi kasus di Ma’had Aly Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Sukorejo-Situbondo

    Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui implikasi positif pendidikan fikih multi madhhab terhadap terbentuknya sikap dan perilaku toleran serta bijak dalam merespon perbedaan-perbedaan yang terjadi dalam masyarakat. Ada tiga rumusan masalah yang dianalisis dalam disertasi ini: 1. Bagaimana pendidikan fikih multi madhhab di Ma’had Aly Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Sukorejo-Sitobondo?; 2. Bagaimana sistem pendidikan fikih multi madhhab di Ma’had Aly Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Sukorejo-Sitobondo?; 3. Apa implikasi pendidikan fikih multi madhhab terhadap kearifan keberagamaan di Ma’had Aly Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Sukorejo-Sitobondo? Dalam penelitian kualitatif ini, penulis menggunakan pendekatan etnometodologi, yaitu suatu usaha untuk melihat, menerangkan, menguraikan pendidikan fikih multi madhhab di pesantren dengan cara mengetahui secara pasti apa yang terjadi dalam perilaku keseharian masyarakat Ma’had Aly. Di samping itu, teori fleksibelitas kognitif juga digunakan sebagai pisau analis dalam pembacaan pendidikan fikih multi madhhab. Dari studi tersebut, diperoleh tiga kesimpulan: 1. Pendidikan fiqih dan usul al-fiqh multi madhhab dilakukan dengan dua cara; a) metode ber-madhhab qawly intiqady (التمذهب القولى الانتقادى), yaitu mengadopsi qawl (pendapat) hasil kajian ijtihad para ahli (fuqaha’) setelah dilakukan telaah kritis terhadap qawl tersebut. b) metode ber-madhhab manhajy (التمذهب المنهجى), yaitu melakukan istinbat dengan mengikuti apa yang telah dirumuskan oleh imam-imam madhhab. Hal ini ada dua. Pertama, istinbat min al-nusus; yaitu menggali dan merumuskan hukum dari al-Qur’an dan atau sunnah, baik juz’/tafsily, maupun al-qawa‘id al-kulliyyah. Kedua, istinbat min ghayri al-nusus, yaitu menggali dan merumuskan hukum dari dalil-dalil sekunder (al-’adillah al-far‘iyyah) yang diakui keabsahannya oleh nas dan didukung oleh prinsip maslahah. 2) Sistem pendidikan fikih dan usul al-fiqh multi madhhab adalah menjadikan keharusan terjalinnya secara erat keseluruhan komponen pendidikan dengan peran dan fungsi yang berkualitas sehingga terlahir out put Ma’had Aly yang fakih pada zamannya. 3) pendidikan fikih dan usul al-fiqh multi madhhab berimplikasi terhadap proses penggalian dan merumuskan hukum pada nalar fikih antroposentris dan nalar fikih transformatif-emansipatoris, sehingga hukum yang dihasilkan bermuara pada kemashlahatan dan kearifan dalam keberagamaan, karena ruh fikih yang sesungguhnya adalah maslahah dan hikmah
