The Officina Emilia Initiative:Innovative Local Actions to Support Education and Training Systems

The issue of the regeneration of skills, in particular in the light engineering industry, is addressed by Officina Emilia (henceforth OE) as a crucial one in order to re-examine the interweaving of education, innovation and local development in the SMEs production systems. The project, aimed at the education and training systems, is designed to enhance the industrial culture in order to strengthen technical and scientific education. First sponsored in 2000 by the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia (Italy), over the last years OE has gathered the support of local actors dealing with the themes of training, culture, and local development. In 2009 it opened its museolaboratorio (“workshop-museum”) in which teaching activities promote an interest in the themes of work, technologies and the socio-economic development of the territory among the students and teachers of schools of all types and levels. The involvement of class groups, of teachers and other visitors takes place through active learning practices that foster motivation and develop a sense of belonging which is likely to lead to a more profitable educational experience, both secondary and tertiary, as well as to contribute to improving career prospects. Officina Emilia proposes innovative action on a local level, allowing for the implementation of effective teaching practices as well as the broadening and consolidation of best practices which might support a society-wide trend towards maintaining a high demand for a better quality of education and the ability to provide it. Ten years after the beginning of the initiative, with this paper we intend to open up the discussion on the various research issues and on the actions undertaken, focusing on the analytical tools and the main critical areas in the further implementation of the Officina Emilia initiative.Analysis of Education; Education Policy; Regional Development Policies; Innovation

The aim of the present thesis is to analyze the role of the woman in the 19th century Spain, a role mainly limited to the home environment and which attributes to the woman a position of submission to the male figure. In the 19th century Spanish society the woman does not enjoy the same rights as man and her only aspiration is marriage. In the literary scenario between the 19th and the 20th century stands out the figure of Emilia Pardo Bazán, an author who, throughout her life and her literary production, has fought for women’s rights. The author supports the feminist cause and she firmly believes that women’s access to education and work would provide the country’s progress and would help women achieve emancipation. The novel titled Morriña (1889) by Emilia Pardo Bazán, through the history of the maid Esclavitud Lamas, describes the condition of the woman during that time and the prejudices of a patriarchal society

    No full text
In this work we aim to study the diverse facets of light in the most distinctly naturalist novels by Emilia Pardo Bazán: the representation and integration of this phenomenon in the composition of the narration, the role it plays, the construction of certain light effects in the aesthetic and semantic field, as well as its symbolic transcendence. The presence of luminous sources in the initial sentences of some tales shows the dominant value that the author awards to it in the development of the fiction in the novel. This is the reason why we consider opportune to draw our attention to this element which, at that time, constituted a current topic in the different fields of knowledge and whose findings will notoriously influence the daily life of nineteenth-century citizens.

The author in this article examines six plays, resulting from the stage adaptation of narrative works of Emilia Pardo Bazán, made when the writer had already given up her dramatic creation and her hopes of succeeding in the theater. In most of these adaptations the text has not been preserved, but we have reports that should be known, because they show the projection of the literary work of Emilia Pardo Bazán. The author in this article examines six plays, resulting from the stage adaptation of narrative works of Emilia Pardo Bazán, made when the writer had already given up her dramatic creation and her hopes of succeeding in the theater. Autorka artykułu prezentuje sylwetkę Emilii Cyfrowicz – niepokalanki, nauczycielki i autorki podręczników historii i języka polskiego, wykorzystywanych w galicyjskich szkołach na przełomie XIX i XX wieku. The author of the article presents the figure of Emilia Cyfrowicz – a sister of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, teacher and author of textbooks on Polish history and language used in Galician schools at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The article points to the connections between the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Congregation of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in particular the relation of Father Hieronim Kajsiewicz to the founder of the former congregation – Marcelina Darowska. It outlines Emilia’s family environment, her path to the convent, the beginnings of her consecrated life and relations with Darowska in the years 1858-1878. In particular, the article focuses on girls’ education in schools led by the congregation of sister, describing Emilia Cyfrowicz‘s teaching work and historical and didactic output. The article was based on several dozen letters written by the founder of the congregation to sister Emilia, her memories and available studies. The Main Archives of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Szymanów has preserved rich correspondence, which deserves closer attention. Emilia Cyfrowicz was a representative of a growing group of educated nuns, who at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries manifested creative ambitions in the field of history and national literature

In this paper I shall present some of the defining features of characterization in Romanian literature during the 80s and 90s of the 20thcentury, as well as the beginning of the 21stcentury. Namely, the first-person protagonist of a novel, above all within the literary paradigm created by Romanian Postmodernism, which has shown itself to be the most innovative, interesting and fruitful prose model in recent decades in Romania. In an overview of Romanian literature at the end of the 20thcentury, dominated by an autobiographical-driven style of fiction on the part of the author, an analysis of homo fictusalso presupposes the exploration of other ideas connected with the narrative artefact, along with the relationship established between reality and fiction. Some of these links will be indicated in the texts analysed in this paper, first in the prose of Mircea Cărtărescu and, in a more synthetic approach, in some novels and short stories by Matei Vişniec and Ştefan Agopian. I have focused on the character-author, or rather, the author-character; but it will be seen that this pairing is imbued with polysemous significance and nuances that, to the reader’s eyes, blur the framework of this duo of critical-literary categories, making them hazier and more difficult to grasp

Reggio Emilia in the American Middle School

    No full text
abstract: The Reggio Emilia Approach to early childhood education is touted as one of the best educational philosophies for teaching young students. The approach emphasizes project-based learning, multiple intelligences, and community involvement, among other key tenets. While Reggio is growing in popularity worldwide, little research exists measuring the true efficacy of the approach. This study identifies research-based pedagogical best practices that support the elements central to the Reggio classroom. The study also explores adapting the Reggio Emilia Approach to the upper-elementary or middle school classroom. The approach is traditionally meant for early childhood, but its research-backed strategies could benefit students of any age group. The study is followed by three sample lesson plans, demonstrating how elements of the Reggio Emilia Approach could be adapted into a middle school English curriculum

Työn toiminnallinen osuus koostui blogista, jossa julkaistiin 9 artikkelia helmi-syyskuun aikana 2020. Blogissa julkaistiin sekä aihe- että reseptipostauksia. Blogikirjoitusten aiheita olivat muun muassa meksikolaiset ruokakaupat, torit ja katuruoka. Reseptit, joita blogissa jaettiin, olivat tyypillisiä meksikolaisia ruokia, mutta vähemmän tunnettuja muissa maissa. Blogissa kävi vierailijoita yhteensä 340 ja he olivat kotoisin 24 eri maasta. Kommentteja blogiin kertyi yhteensä 45. Opinnäytetyön raportissa kuvaillaan blogin suunnittelu-, luomis- ja kirjoitusvaiheita. Opinnäytetyö saavutti asettamansa tavoitteet kohtuullisesti. Blogin lukijat jakoivat omakohtaisia kokemuksia blogikirjoitusten aiheisiin liittyen kommentoimalla blogiin. Suurin osa kommenteista ja palautteesta tuli kuitenkin tekijän sosiaalisen median kanavien kautta. Tekijä olisi toivonut saavansa enemmän kommentteja blogikirjoituksiin, jotta tavoite kommenttien saannista olisi täyttynyt. Blogi koettiin inspiroivana ja mielenkiintoisena tapana oppia meksikolaisesta ruokakulttuurista.  The purpose of this practice-based thesis was to create a blog about Mexican food culture. The aim for the blog was to disseminate information about authentic Mexican food culture to people traveling to Mexico as well as to people interested in Mexican food culture. Another goal was to acquire readers for the blog and to inspire them to comment on the blog posts. Background information for the articles was obtained by observing the daily lives of Mexicans and by interviewing local people while the author was living in Mexico. The framework of the thesis consists of Mexican food culture, a blog, and a practice-based thesis. The work explains which ingredients are used in Mexican cooking, which are the typical Mexican dishes and how Mexican food has changed over the years. In addition to this, the work introduces the terminology, creation and writing of a blog, as well as the features and writing stages of a practice-based thesis. The functional part of the work consisted of a blog with 9 articles published in February-September 2020. Both topic and recipe posts were published in the blog. Topics for blog posts included Mexican grocery stores, markets, and street food. The recipes shared on the blog were typical Mexican dishes, but less well known in other countries. The blog was visited by a total of 340 visitors and they were from 24 different countries. A total of 45 comments were received on the blog. The thesis report describes the planning, creation and writing stages of the blog. The thesis achieved the goals reasonably. Blog readers shared their personal experiences on blog posting topics by commenting on the blog. However, most of the comments and feedback came through the author’s social media channels. The author would have liked to receive more comments on the blog posts so that the target of obtaining comments would have been met. The blog was seen as an inspiring and interesting way to learn about Mexican food culture
