Jan's Illustrated Computer Literacy 101: Computer Basics
Jan Smith developed this website (available in both English and Spanish) to provide lessons in computer basics for use at home or in the classroom. The Computer Basics section explains "a lot of the techno-babble that you hear about computers" so that you can "follow along as computer technology becomes more and more important in our world." Other lessons move on to Computer Types, Applications, Input, Processing, Output, Storage, Computer to Computer, System Software, and Programming. The lessons are short and easy to read online, providing some helpful graphic images and tips on purchasing a new computer, hardware or software. A glossary of key terms is also available

Jan Kapr's contribution to contemporary music : an essay about a composer and teacher
This creative project is a treatise on a leading personality of Czechoslovakian musical life, the composer, Jan Kapr. The author discusses the following:1. The complicated development of Kapr's career and work, 2. Kapr's method of organization of musical material in a composition, as described in his book Constants,3. His former and current style which is demonstrated in two of his compositions, Concert Variations, for flute and string orchestra and Testimonies for four solo instruments,4. Two of his recent works, Exercises for Gydli and the Symphony No. 7, Country of Childhood.Thesis (M.A.
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Diffusive author(s), cohesive author: Analysis of S/N (1994)
This study indicates the ways in which various aspects of the author(s) are brought forth in Dumb type’s performance art, the S/N production. Previous research has suggested a non-hierarchical organization of Dumb type and the absence of a “privileged author” in Dumb type’s collaborative work, S/N. However, the results that I have investigated from member’s interviews on the creative process of S/N along with my analysis of the recorded images of S/N, indicate a different aspect of the author(s). First, S/N was created through, so to speak, the collective ideas of the members of Dumb type. Further, S/N has at least nine quotations from previous performances, installations, and printed writings, besides the work-in-progress technique. Explicating one of the “author functions” as given by Michel Foucault, each text has plural subjects of the author. However, it has been revealed from members’ interviews that Teiji Furuhashi had a decision-making role in selecting the members’ ideas within the performance. Since then, S/N has had plural subjects of creation; however, Furuhashi is one of the subjects of creation along with the “privileged author.” S/N has plural authors (diffusive authors) yet at the same time, it has a “privileged author,” Teiji Furuhashi (cohesive author)
Jan Ptaszycki (1854-1912)
Depmana (1960), którzy znali go osobiście. Jan Ptaszycki was a Polish mathematician working in St. Petersburg in the period 1876–1912. In Poland, he is forgotten, and in Russia considered generally as a Russian mathematician, known there as Ivan Lvovich Ptaszycki. In Russian literature about history of mathematics, depending on the author, it is reported that Ptaszycki was a Russian mathematician or, more rarely, a Polish mathematician as, for example, in Lokot (2015, 2018). The important information about Ptaszycki comes from the obituaries of K. A. Posse (1912) and S. Dickstein (1912) and from the memoirs of I. Ja. Depman (1960), that is from people who knew him personally. We wanted to make known to the contemporary reader this forgotten Polish mathematician working in St. Petersburg. This article tries to reach his work and achievement in mathematics as well as information about his activity. After discussing his biography, we briefly discuss his mathematical work. At the end of this paper, we quote articles and books related to Ptaszycki scientific achievements and we present a full list of his published works and books, and also references where one can find information about him.Validerad;2019;Nivå 1;2019-08-20 (johcin)</p
Guidelines for Measuring and Reporting Environmental Parameters for Experiments in Greenhouses
The importance of appropriate, accurate measurement and reporting of environmental parameters in plant sciences is a significant aspect of quality assurance for all researchers and their research. There is a clear need for ensuring research across the world can be compared, understood and where necessary replicated by fellow researchers. A common set of guidelines to educate, assist and encourage comparativeness is of great importance. On the other hand, the level of effort and attention to detail by an individual researcher should be commensurate with the particular research being conducted. For example, a researcher focusing on interactions of light and temperature should measure all relevant parameters and report a measurement summary that includes sufficient detail allowing for replication. Such detail may be less relevant when the impact of environmental parameters on plant growth and development is not the main research focus. However, it should be noted that the environmental experience of a plant during production can have significant impact when subsequent experiments investigate plants at a molecular, biochemical or genetic level or where species interactions are considered. Thus, researchers are encouraged to make a critical assessment of what parameters are of primary importance in their research and these parameters should be measured and reported.© 2015 Both et al. Five directions by Jan Mikulášek
V diplomové práci si na základě analýz pěti inscenací Jana Mikuláška kladu za cíl pojmenovat konstanty a proměnné režisérova zacházení s předlohami různého typu. Každá z inscenací vychází z jiného textového materiálu: Gottland z reportáží, Korespondence V+W z dopisů, Zlatá šedesátá z deníkových zápisů, Maryša z dramatu a Don Quijote z románu. Zároveň v rámci všech vybraných děl režisér nějakým způsobem vstupuje do dialogu s mýtem ohledně daného tématu nebo osobností (češství, Jan Werich a Jiří Voskovec, Pavel Juráček, šedesátá léta, Maryša, donkichotství). Práce tak volně navazuje na předchozí bakalářskou práci Persony: inspirace filmy Ingmara Bergmana v inscenaci Divadla Na zábradlí, kde režisér vychází opět z jiného materiálu, a sice filmů, resp. filmových povídek švédského režiséra.In my thesis, based on the analysis of five productions by Jan Mikulášek, I aim to name the constants and variables of the director’s treatment of different types of subjects. Each of the productions is based on different textual material: Gottland on reports, Correspondence V+W on letters, The Golden Sixties on diary entries, Marysha on drama and Don Quixote on a novel. At the same time, in all the selected works, the director enters in some way into a dialogue with the myth regarding the given theme or personalities (Czechism, Jan Werich and Jiří Voskovec, Pavel Juráček, the sixties, Marysha, Don Quixote). The thesis thus loosely follows the previous bachelor's thesis Personas: inspiration of Ingmar Bergman's film in the production of the Theatre on the Balustrade
