This research showed that the biography of the author indirectly attached and
gave an overview of the actual content of the novel. The relationship between
Ahmad Tohari as a author with his work entitled Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk was a
major topic of discussion. The objectives of this research were to find out the
theme of the novel and relationship between Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel with
Ahmad Tohari’s biography. Descriptive qualitative method was carried out to
analyze the data. The source of the data was taken from the novel Ronggeng
Dukuh Paruk by Ahmad Tohari. In collecting the data, some references related to
biographical critism were applied. The data were analyzed by reading the novel,
underlining statement of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel that related to Ahmad
Tohari’s biography, analyzing and describing the relationship between Ronggeng
Dukuh Paruk novel with Ahmad Tohari’s biography. It was concluded that the
theme was the complexity of ronggeng dancer’s life, they included social, human
trafficking, character assassination and politic theme and there was the
relationship between the biography of Ahmad Tohari to the content of the
Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel
Analisis Oposisi Makna “Catatan Buat Emak” dalam Trilogi Novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk Karya Ahmad Tohari
This research is a type of qualitative descriptive study that uses the "listening" method with the "note-taking" technique to collect data. The aim of this study is to describe the lexical aspects of antonymy in the first part of the trilogy novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk “Catatan Buat Emak” by Ahmad Tohari, which was published in 1982. The object of this research is antonymy (opposition of meaning). The data in this research consists of utterances or dialogues between characters in the Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel, which contain oppositions of meaning along with their context. The source of the data for this study is the Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel by Ahmad Tohari. The data is then analyzed using the "distribution method" with the "direct element division" (BUL) technique, followed by the binary opposition technique. The results of the data analysis generally show that the types of meaning opposition that appear in the text of the first novel of the Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy include absolute opposition, polar opposition, relational opposition, hierarchical opposition, and compound opposition. Polar opposition is the most frequently used type of meaning opposition by the author, as the author often portrays the complexity of the characters' lives in a gradational manner.

Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggunakan metode simak dengan teknik catat dalam mengumpulkan datanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan aspek leksikal antonimi dalam novel trilogi bagian pertama Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk “ Catatan Buat Emak” karya Ahmad Tohari yang diterbitkan pada tahun 1982. Objek penelitian ini adalah antonimi (oposisi makna). ANALISIS TOKOH DAN PENOKOHAN DALAM NOVEL TRILOGI RONGGENG DUKUH PARUK KARYA AHMAD TOHARI
This research, entitled Analysis of the Main Character in the Novel "Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk" by Ahmad Tohari, was motivated by the emergence of social criticism. This study aims to analyze the main character in the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk by Ahmad Tohari. The life in a dukuh is different from other villages which affects the character of its inhabitants. The method used is descriptive qualitative analysis. Data retrieval is done by reading, analyzing and marking the text or sentence included in the character and characterization so that it is easy to study, with this study the reader can take the good side of several figures to be implemented in social life, namely someone who is brave, compassionate, cares about others. . Even though living in a dukuh which is shrouded in poverty and ignorance, it is not as bad as others see it, although according to people their life is lacking but it does not make them complain all the time. The result of this research is that there are social conflicts that arise in the plot related to the characters and characterizations in the novel. Ahmad Tohari, as the author of the novel, describes the character of each character well and precisely so that readers can easily understand the plot and convey it successfully to the reader.Keywords: Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, Figures, Characterizations
KAJIAN STILE PADA NOVEL RONGGENG DUKUH PARUK DAN BEKISAR MERAH KARYA AHMAD TOHARI
This study focuses on stylistic analysis in two novels by Ahmad Tohari: Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk and Bekisar Merah. These two novels were chosen because of Tohari's distinctive depiction of rural social realities, poverty, and the struggles of life, expressed through his unique style. The study of style in these two novels is crucial to uncovering how Ahmad Tohari utilizes the power of language to construct a fictional world rich with meaning and value. In addition to strengthening appreciation for modern Indonesian literature, this research is also beneficial for developing literature learning in schools, particularly in developing students' critical thinking skills and empathy for social realities through the interpretation of literary language.
This study aims to identify, classify, and analyze the style used by the author in the novels Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk and Bekisar Merah, relating to symbolism, sociocultural realities, and the elements that shape the stories. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a stylistic approach. Data were obtained through in-depth reading of the novel texts, followed by recording and categorizing stylistic elements. Data analysis was conducted by interpreting how these language choices shape meaning, create atmosphere, and deepen characterization. The theoretical framework used refers to stylistic concepts developed by experts, which distinguish between everyday language and literary language.
The results of the study indicate that Ahmad Tohari utilizes a rich and nuanced style. In Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, there is a strong use of local diction (Banyumasan dialect), personification that brings nature to life, and sharp imagery to depict poverty and suffering. The language used often feels poetic and flowing, reflecting local wisdom and tradition. Meanwhile, in Bekisar Merah, the style tends to be more reflective and psychological. The diction chosen emphasizes descriptions of the characters' inner states, with metaphors and similes depicting internal conflicts. The conclusion of this study confirms that style in Ahmad Tohari's works functions not merely as ornamentation, but as an integral element that builds the narrative, reinforces the theme, and reflects the author's worldview on social reality.
 
REPERTOIRE DALAM RONGGENG DUKUH PARUK KARYA AHMAD TOHARI KAJIAN ESTETIK WOLFGANG ISER
The history of modern Indonesian literature development has presented
literary pieces linked to social, cultural, and historical facts. It is owing to the fact
that the literary pieces cannot be separated from daily lives though the author has
transcended his or her social, cultural, and historical facts. Hence, the literary
pieces may contain facts despite its fictional status. One of the Indonesian literary
pieces representing close relation between social, cultural, and historical facts in
the real world and fiction referring to the author�s imaginative world is Ronggeng
Dukuh Paruk by Ahmad Tohari. A research needs to be conducted to see to what
extent fiction represents fact.
This research entitled �Repertoire in Ahmad Tohari�s Ronggeng Dukuh
Paruk: A Study of Wolfgang Iser�s Aesthetic� is aimed at understanding the
repertoire in the novel as a background of creation so that foreground the author
aspires for couold be revealed. It indirectly suggests a corelation between fact or
reality and fiction as Tohari�s imagination as the author of the novel. Applying
Wolfgang Iser�s repertoire theory, the research uses the entire texts in the novel
trilogy as objects of study. Furthemore, the objects are linked to things that
become the basis of creation involving social, cultural, and historical norms found
in the text.
Having closely read, seeked, and analyzed data, it is revealed that social
norms found in the novel refer to social norms within the abangan group of
Javanese people which is bounded by the tradition of the believe in foreseeing,
inheritage, and magical symbol, unity principle, and their mentality. Dominant
culture in the novel is Javanese, that is, Ronggeng art in dealing to the initials of
peronggengan or pergowokan. Meanwhile, historical facts as a background of the
novel is Ronggeng art found in pre and post the tragedy of G 30S/PKI, which
influence the function and the reputation of ronggeng.
Through the background and foreground of the author�s purpose that is
socio norms, is brought out to critisize the society�s condition as mentally and
spiritually lived under passive condition. Cultural norm is presented as the shape
of disagreement towards the symbol of feodalism of Java people which strongly
bounded in the life of the society. Meanwhile, historical norms is used to speak
out the intention, such as critics towards the government under strict orde baru
regim and which put the art under politics as well
Masalah Sosial dalam Novel Trilogi Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk Karya Ahmad Tohari
This research is based on the thought of the importance of the existence of
literary works which are as an inseparable part of society's lives that form a
dialectical relationship between society and literary works. In addition, it is
important to understand the pattern of discourse structures used by authors in
producing texts in his works.
The purpose of this study is to discuss 1) the dialectical relationship
between the reality of the trilogy novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk and social reality
regarding social problems; 2) world view and human facts based on social
problems in the novel; 3) the pattern of discourse structure in producing texts on
social problems in the novel trilogy Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk.
The theory used is genetic structuralism to discuss and analyze world
views and human facts by using Sociology of Literature approach; and Critical
Discourse Analysis Theory is used to find out the pattern of discourse structure on
social problems. Qualitative descriptive paradigm with analytical descriptive
method is the method used in this research. The data is obtained from the text in
the primary and secondary data sources which refer to social problems and
patterns of discourse structure in the novel. In addition, data are obtained from
texts related to social problems and the results of interviews with the author. The
data analysis technique is based on the data analysis interactive model
component.
The reality of the novel and the social reality depicted through the text
regarding the social problems of poverty, occultism, prostitution, illiteracy, and
crime in the form of exploitation in the novel related to the results of interviews
with the author proves the existence of a dialectical relationship between novel
reality and social reality.
The world view related to social problems in the novel shows the world
views on economic, religious, and social fields related to the function of literary
texts in the form of affirmations and negations; meanwhile from the human facts
views, revealed the form of individual human fact and collective human fact.
The pattern of discourse structure on social problems in the novel based
on the text dimensions shows that there are some elements which form the
structure of the text used, namely: background elements, details, intentions,
presuppositions, coherence, pronouns, lexicon, and graphics. Based on the
elements of social cognition and social context, there are power practices,

Utilitas Bahasa dalam Mengkonstruksi Hegemoni Kekuasaan pada Novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk: Perspektif Antropologi Linguistik
This study aimed at (1) explaining the author hegemonic power expressed in the literary texts by signifier system, (2) explaining the hegemonic power shown in the literary texts as a humanity representation, and (3) finding the basic concept to explain in the language, the system of power and culture in linguistic anthropology perspective. This research used descriptive qualitative method in order to explain that the language utility in linguistic anthropology perspective could formulate and reconstruct hegemonic powers shown in Ahmad Tohari’s novels entitled Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk. The research data included primary and secondary data. The primary data were in the form of literary texts (novels). While secondary data included: (1) various references or journals related to the research problems, (2) a variety of important information obtained from the author, cultural observersand readers are reffered from internet. The data collection was done by library research for in-depth understanding on the meanings. The Data analysis techniques required reading for meaning in a semiotic reading of heuristic and hermeneutic reading. The results showed that (1) hegemonic power shown by the author through signifier system could be considered in the use of signs / symbols that led to the meaning of power in linguistic categories associated with the community culture shown in the texts, (2) the hegemony of power indicated in the texts as humanity representation that sometimes, for certain interests, language could be used as a mean of justification to human behavior, (3) the language used in the text could not be separated from the public culture in giving meaning of power. How Banyumas people “describe" G30S/PKI in the novel Ronggeng Dhukuh Paruk
The novel RDP came out in 1982, when the new order regime was still firmly established. One of the important criticisms in the work was the "incorrect" handling of communism by the government at that time following the eruption of the G30S/PKI history. The author of the novel tries to bring a different view of the issue. This paper tries to present how the original Banyumas personified the political turmoil-how the laypeople interpreted the events that had consumed them as victims, or the sacrificed. Based on the recurrent reading of the Indonesian-language RDP novel and Javanese language Banyumasan, the authors firmly state that the people of Dukuh Paruk are merely victims of the outside world. People of the hamlet have no idea what they are doing, other than that they want to perpetuate the tradition they are proud of, ronggeng. Nor do they blame or think that there are people outside of those who have committed crimes against them. The disaster that befall them is none other due to their mistakes do not run the rituals that must be done before performances ronggeng. Their elders also realized that the pageblug had been signaled by the appearance of the latitude of the cubes (comets), and they had ignored the cue. Thus, pageblug should be accepted. Against the innocence of clean thought, the author asserts that something is wrong with them, systematically practiced by the regime at that time. He agreed that the coup was false; but the way in which the state deals with such problems is also unjustifiable. The state has clearly punished many Indonesians without trial, and killed thousands of innocent people
The development of psychoanalysis as explored in the anorexic symptom of refusal
aim of this dissertation is to explore the anorexic symptom of refusal as it is situated within psychoanalytic discourse which has evolved and changed over time. A discourse which begins from an early instinctual drive-based perspective, evolving to an object-relational formulation then finally emerges within a theory of the unconscious as structured like a language which produces the divided subject. It is necessary therefore to explore a number of relevant psychoanalyst’s theories, beginning with Sigmund Freud’s conception of the duality of the drives. His influence on subsequent theorists such as Anna Freud and Lacan will be discussed, in terms of a move from a theory of the individual within a dyadic to a triadic relation as observed in Lacanian psychoanalysis. A discussion of these theories are relevant since they provided the foundation for later theories of anorexia that emerged, such as evident in the work of Ripa di Meana, Cosenza and Recalcati. The focus of the discussion will then shift to an exploration of these contemporary theorists perspectives on anorexic refusal.
Chapter Two examines Freud’s influential drive theory which laid the foundation for subsequent psychoanalytic thought. Particular focus will be drawn on the way in which the drive is incorporated within the unconscious which proves essential in the later theories on the anorexic subject’s refusal.
Chapter Three is an examination of Anna Freud’s ‘A Psychoanalytic Understanding of Feeding Disturbances (1946)’ read through the lens of Jacques Lacan’s theories of the maternal imago and the weaning complex laid out in ‘Family Complexes as a Formation of the Individual (1938)’. The notion of the pleasurable nature of the early experience of the child with the mother and the oral drive will be contrasted with Lacan’s ideas on the importance of the interruption to this relationship. The aim of this chapter is to establish the crucial differences between the two psychoanalytic approaches, highlighting elements that a re-reading can suggest regarding the establishment of feeding disturbances.
Chapter Four concerns a discussion of Lacan’s concepts of the Real, Imaginary and Symbolic registers and the notion of the unconscious as that which exists in relation to the Other, where an assimilation of language is paramount. This will open up the Lacanian exploration of the anorexic symptom of refusal in relation to the life and death drives and the relationship to desire.
Finally, Chapter Five focuses on the ‘trans-structural’ quality of the ‘no’ of the anorexic subject within the context of a discussion of contemporary psychoanalytic perspectives via the work of Ripa di Meana, Cosenza and Recalcati. Author keywords: Anorexia, Refusal, Psychoanalysi
