No full textCet article pose les jalons pour l’analyse de l’oeuvre méconnue de Marie Louise (Magali de son nom de plume) Michelet, femme de lettres d’origine française ayant vécu une dizaine d’années en Alberta. En plus d’avoir signé une pièce de théâtre ainsi qu’un roman épistolaire, Magali est l’auteure d’une chronique intitulée « Le Coin féminin », qui a paru pendant près de dix ans dans l’hebdomadaire francophone Le Courrier de l’Ouest. Ayant correspondu avec des journalistes québécoises de renom comme Robertine Barry (alias Françoise), Magali s’est imposée comme une référence incontournable de la vie littéraire franco-albertaine du début du xxe siècle. Attirée par le milieu en pleine effervescence des lettres québécoises, Magali a épousé la cause canadienne-française tout en assumant pleinement ses origines françaises. Ainsi au fil de ses chroniques, Magali est parvenue à jeter un pont unique entre la France, le Québec et l’Alberta.This article paves the way for the analysis of the lesser-known works of Marie Louise (pen name Magali) Michelet, a female writer of French origins, who lived in Alberta for ten years. In addition to having written a play as well as an epistolary novel, Magali is the author of a column entitled “Le Coin féminin”, which appeared for more than ten years in the weekly francophone paper, Le Courrier de l’Ouest. Having corresponded with renowned female Québécois journalists such as Robertine Barry (alias Françoise), Magali established herself as a staple of Franco-Albertan life of the beginning of the twentieth century. Attracted by the effervescent environment of Québécois writing, Magali embraced the French-Canadian cause all the while upholding her French origins. Through her columns, Magali was able to uniquely bridge the gap between France, Québec, and Alberta

Cet article nous emmène dans l’une des contrées de la pratique de Magali Babin : le monde tactile de l’audio qu’elle déploie dans ses performances solos. Auteure d’une oeuvre sonore polymorphe, Magali Babin est une artiste québécoise, performeure, compositrice et interprète, inaugurant depuis deux ans les pratiques installatives sonores. Elle est une figure majeure de la scène alternative montréalaise en art audio, de l’improvisation « à risque » ainsi que de la musique expérimentale, déambulant librement entre les catégories artistiques les plus actuelles.How can the ephemeral touch of a caress become an aesthetic object? How does Magali Babin turn electronic sound into a medium for eccentric sensoriality? This article takes us into one region of Magali Babin’s artistic practice: the tactile world of sound that she uses in her solo performances. Author of a polymorphic sonic oeuvre, Magali Babin is a Quebec artist, performer, and composer whose artistic practice has incorporated sonic installations for the past two years. She is a key figure in Montreal’s alternative audio art, “edgy” improvisation, and experimental music scenes, moving freely among cutting-edge artistic categories

No full textWhat happens to the ‘death of the author’ when we do not read it as a manifest for a new critique, but as a commentary on contemporary art? What happens to our perception of Camera Lucida when we read it not only as a textbook for photography doubled with a tale of mourning but as a visual manifesto for minorities? Engaging with Barthes’s politics of in/visibility in a broad sense, this workshop will interrogate the centrality of the margins in Roland Barthes’ works and explore their underlying visual universe. Acclaimed for his decipherings of everyday mythologies, Barthes not only developed a wide set of tools and concepts to deconstruct the ideologies governing the visible: his critique of cultural stereotypes, his new approach to literature and the arts always go hand in hand with a reflection on the margins and a commitment to minorities. Magali Nachtergael will guide our discussion of pre-circulated texts.
