    In riot

    Many scholars and historians have professed that America’s “original sin” is slavery and that the nation has moved slowly, and at times stubbornly, towards repentance and atonement for this sin. Even after the emancipation of blacks in America, the scars of racism remain. Throughout the centuries, there have been a number of slave revolts, rebellions and race riots that have reddened America’s soil. In Riot is a volume of poetry that examines these riots, most specifically the race riots of the 20th century from the 1906 riot of Atlanta to the 1992 LA riots. The events of these riots are told through the voice of a collective “We,” which may be interpreted as the voice of a people who participated or suffered in these riots. Martin Luther King said, “A riot is the language of the unheard.” But in In Riot we hear their actual thoughts and justifications for rebellion. Each riot is dealt with in its own section but pieced together to create a long narrative or “epic” poem. Each section opens with a brief overview of the time and place the riots occurred. The reader is then introduced to a number of characters who help tell the story; some of these characters are actual historical figures that played a central role in the riot or its causes. The second section of the volume deals with other issues of race and racism in America from injustices of the criminal justice system to poverty, gentrification and the destructive nature of dangerous stereotypes in the media and popular culture of black violence and criminality.M.F.A.by Malik Abdul-Jabbaa

Pembimbing: (I) Dr. Roekhan, M.Pd., (II) Sokhibul Ansor, S.Sos., M.Hum   Kata Kunci : sistem klasifikasi Islam, perpustakaan UIN Maliki Malang.   Tujuan penulisan Tugas Akhir ini untuk: (a) mendeskripsikan sistem klasifikasi Islam yang digunakan di Perpustakaan UIN Maliki Malang; (b) mendeskripsikan persamaan dan perbedaan Sistem Klasifikasi Islam Versi UIN Maliki Malang dengan DDC Abdul Azis Batjo; dan (c) menjelaskan hambatan-hambatan dalam pengklasifikasian bahan pustaka keislaman di Perpustakaan UIN Maliki Malang. Tugas Akhir ini menganalisis subjek Islam dalam berbagai bagan klasifikasi DDC Abdul Azis Batjo, dan Sistem Klasifikasi Islam Versi Perpustakaan Pusat UIN Malang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui perbedaan, pengelompokan kelas, dan tata urut faset pada kedua bagan tersebut. Terdapat persamaan, yaitu mempunyai perhatian terhadap keilmuan Islam. Selain itu, terdapat kelebihan dan kelemahan pada kedua bagan klasifikasi Islam tersebut. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif, sedangkan metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dan komparatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Perpustakaan UIN Maliki Malang. Cerita yang menjadi data dalam penelitian ini adalah hasil perbandingan dari Klasifikasi Islam Versi Perpustakaan UIN Maliki Malang dengan bagan Klasifikasi Islam DDC Abdul Azis Batjo. Dalam pengumpulan data ini dilakukan dengan cara telaah dokumen. Langkah-langkah dalam melakukan analisis data adalah (1) membandingkan Klasifikasi Islam Versi Perpustakaan UIN Maliki Malang dengan bagan klasifikasi Islam DDC Abdul Azis Batjo, dan (2) menganalisis taksonomi ilmu pengetahuan Islam yang terakomodasi dalam bagan Klasifikasi Islam Versi Perpustakaan UIN Maliki Malang dan bagan klasifikasi Islam DDC Abdul Azis Batjo. Berdasarkan hasil perbandingan dan analisis kedua bagan Islam, maka diperoleh tiga kesimpulan: (1) perbandingan DDC Abdul Azis Batjo dengan Sistem Klasifikasi Islam Versi UIN Maliki Malang mempunyai kelebihan yaitu sama-sama membagi seluruh cabang ilmu pengetahuan Islam menjadi 10 kelas utama dan mempunyai perbedaan dalam segi penggunaan istilah atau redaksi, (2) perbandingan bagan DDC Abdul Azis Batjo dengan Sistem Klasifikasi Islam Versi UIN Maliki Malang mempunyai perbedaan dalam pembagian faset, kedua klasifikasi Islam ini masih belum bisa mencakup seluruh subyek yang ada pada perpustakaan khususnya untuk Perpustakaan UIN, sehingga ketika dilakukan perbandingan akan terlihat saling melengkapi antar kedua klasifikasi Islam Versi UIN Maliki Malang dan DDC Abdul Azis Batjo, dan (3) terdapat kelebihan dan kelemahan pada kedua bagan klasifikasi Islam tersebut sehingga dapat diketahui kelengkapan dan kesempurnaan suatu bagan klasifikasi Islam

    In the current era, there are so many people who feel that they are unlucky and even desperate with what they are currently facing, this trait arises because they do not understand the true nature of trust. Therefore, many people misinterpret the word tawakal. The article explains the concept of tawakal according to Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah and its relevance to social life, in the research process, the author collects data using library data with a Sufism approach and uses two methods, namely descriptive and analytical methods. From the results of the discussion, the researcher concluded that the concept of tawakal Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah agreed with other Sufi scholars, namely submitting decisions, all matters, endeavors, and efforts to God in the Universe, He is Strong and Powerful, we are weak and helpless. The difference between the concept and the concepts of other Sufi scholars is that tawakal must be accompanied by gratitude and patience in the face of His decrees. The relationship between the concept of tawakal Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah with social life is: making people strong and ready to face the problems of life.Era saat ini, banyak sekali manusia yang merasa dirinya tidak beruntung bahkan putus asa dengan apa yang mereka hadapi saat ini, sifat ini timbul karena belum memahami hakikat tawakal yang sesungguhnya. Maka dari itu, banyak yang salah memaknai kata tawakal tersebut. Artikel menjelaskan konsep tawakal menurut Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah dan relevansinya terhadap kehidupan sosial, dalam proses penelitian, penulis mengumpulkan data-data menggunakan data kepustakaan dengan pendekatan tasawuf dan menggunakan dua metode, yaitu metode deskriptif dan analisis. Hasil pembahasan tersebut, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa konsep tawakal Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah sepakat dengan ulama-ulama sufi lainnya,  yaitu menyerahkan keputusan, segala perkara, ikhtiar, dan usaha kepada Tuhan Semesta Alam, Dia Yang Kuat dan Kuasa, kita lemah tak berdaya. Perbedaan konsepnya dengan konsep ulama Sufi lainnya ialah tawakal harus disertai dengan syukur dan sabardalam menghadapi ketetapan-Nya.     Kiai Imam Malik is the author of Kidung Pangiling who resides in Losari village, Mojosari district, Mojokerto district. He founded a hermitage named Padepokan Mayangkoro Islamic Boarding School Connect Sari Noto Projo Majapahit Bangkit Nusantara Jaya. This Pangiling Song is a syiiran who is used to being heard and charged through active speakers in the Wisnu Manunggal Mosque which is held every morning and evening. Kiai Imam Malik created the pangiling hymn aimed at giving advice and reminders to the people during the 1997 - 2006. The moral interpretation in Kidung Pangiling by Kiai Imam Malik broadly explained the phenomenon of morality which experienced tremendous degradation that occurred in society. Especially in 1999, 2000 and 2001, because there were civil wars in several places, such as in Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Ambon.     Anre Gurutta Haji (A.G.H) Muhammad As’ad is one of the actors of forming Islamic Boarding Schools in South Sulawesi. He went back from Makkah and went to Sengkang-Wajo in 1928. He graduated from al-Falah Makkah Mukarramah. He studied to the great Ulamas in the Mesjidil Haram (Haram Mosque). Among of his teachers were Syekh Abdul Rasyid al-Bugis, Syekh Ambo Wellang al-Bugis, Syekh Abbas Abdul Jabbar al-Bugis, Syekh Mallawa al-Bugis, Syekh Umar Hamdani (the traditional expert), Syekh Ahmad Azdirin, Syekh Jamal Makki, Syekh al-Abrar, Syekh Muhammad Said al-Yamani, and Syekh Hasan al-Yamani.     Program PPL merupakan salah satu cara yang dilakukan oleh Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta untuk memberikan pengalaman kepada mahasiswa dalam mengajar. Selain itu, juga sebagai wahana untuk mengaplikasikan ilmu pengetahuan yang telah didapat di bangku kuliah ke dalam kelas. Adapun tujuan PPL di sekolah ini di antaranya adalah untuk memberikan pembelajaran kepada mahasiswa agar mengenali lingkungan kerja nantinya. Di samping itu, untuk memberikan pembelajaran kepada mahasiswa tentang mekanisme pengajaran dan proses Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar (KBM) di sekolah. Pelaksanaan program PPL dimulai dari tanggal 02 Juli sampai 17 September 2013. Selama kegiatan, praktikan melaksanakan berbagai program kerja yang bertujuan untuk memfasilitasi pengajaran dan pengoptimalan potensi siswa. Pada realisasinya kegiatan berjalan sesuai dengan target yang sudah direncanakan. Kegiatan PPL ini dilaksanakan pada saat Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar (KBM) berlangsung. Program yang diselenggarakan pada kegiatan PPL, disusun untuk meningkatkan proses pengajaran dan proses belajar siswa. Selain itu, juga untuk melatih praktikan sebelum terjun ke lapangan kerja nantinya. Dengan demikian, praktikan memiliki keterampilan dalam manajerial kelas dan sekolah sehingga kegiatan belajar mengajar dapat berjalan dengan baik dan menghasilkan input dan output yang andal

    Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is one of the most revered saints and most loved poets of Sindh. His Shah jo Risalo has been translated into many languages from Sindhi and a large number of scholars, both Pakistani and foreign, have tried to understand and explain the philosophy and the message in Shah Latif`s poetry. The author has explained in this paper that the worldly love had led Shah Latif to eternal and real love, that is the love of God, and his worldly love is but a metaphor for the eternal and true love of Allah, a relationship between the soul of an individual and the Soul of the Cosmos.     Overview of Indonesian Islamic Education: A Social, Historical and Political Perspective

    The aim of this study is to examine how the historical genealogy of Islamic educational tradition, particularly the tradition of teaching and learning, has contributed to the development of Islamic education in Indonesia. By drawing together in an analytic way a historically based description of the social and political circumstances surrounding Indonesian Islamic education, the study discusses some significant issues concerning the religious base, knowledge base, structural form, and the pedagogical approach of Indonesian Islamic education, all of which are important to the development of a modern form of Islamic education. The argument of the thesis is that the existing values of the Islamic tradition in education, particularly evident in Madrasah schools, provide a valuable basis for further developing and reconstructing an effective Islamic education system in Indonesia. However, there is also a strong need to construct an Islamic education curriculum in Indonesia that can meet the challenge posed by the circumstances generally understood as 'modernity'. The quality of teaching and learning in the Madrasah are very much influenced by the quality of the wider Islamic education programme. Any change in the curriculum of Islamic education will thus have significant effects on the quality of the Madrasah schools in Indonesia. This thesis will thus conclude by suggesting some implications for further development of Islamic education that arise from the study. This is a qualitative study using an historical genealogical approach to discover, understand and analyze the challenges currently facing Islamic education In Indonesia. The techniques for collecting data involved, primarily, a critical reading of historical and contemporary policy documents. Primary and secondary sources were also collected, studied and subjected to a critical reading in the production of this account of Indonesian Islamic education

    Pendidikan Moral melalui Pembelajaran Kitab Alfiyah ibn Malik di Pondok Pesantren Langitan Tuban

    Kitab Alfiyah of Muhammad bin Abdillah bin Malik al-Andalusi or known as Ibnu Malik is famous for resource of Arabic grammar. It is uncommon to find discourse of the kitab apart from the Arabic grammar. It is the fact that moral values are the other side of its contents, implicitly live in the stanzas. Philosophical worldview makes possible to uncover the moral values, then to interpret it, and to internalize it throung learning activities. This article describes the moral contents, internalization methods, and reflection of the internalization towards santri in Pondok Pesantren Langitan Tuban.  With naturalistic paradigm, data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation. Findings shows that moral internalization in the kitab Alfiyah Ibn Malik learning activities was going through modelling, rewards, punishment, building habits, and indoctrination. In addition, author finds 31 moral values within stanzas in the kitab and 12 reflective behaviors by santri.Kitab Alfiyah karya Muhammad bin Abdillah bin Malik al-Andalusi atau yang lebih populer dengan nama Ibnu Malik sangat dikenal sebagai sumber ilmu tata bahasa Arab. Tidak banyak yang mengurai dan meneliti kitab tersebut dalam sudut pandang lain. Padahal ada beberapa substansi yang terkandung di dalamnya, misalnya tentang moral yang tersisip diantara bait-bait isinya. Sudut pandang filosofis diperlukan untuk menyingkap substansi nilai-nilai moral sebelum menginterpretasikannya dan menginternalisasikannya dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kandungan nilai moral, metode internalisasinya, dan refleksi hasil internalisasi moral pada santri di Pondok Pesantren Langitan Tuban. Dengan paradigma naturalistik, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Temuan kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa internalisasi moral dalam pembelajaran kitab Alfiyah Ibn Malik disampaikan melalui keteladanan, penghargaan, hukuman, pembiasaan, dan indoktrinasi. Selain itu, peneliti menemukan 31 nilai-nilai moral dalam bait-bait kitab dan 12 perilaku reflektif yang ditunjukkan oleh santri
