Research-Creation: Don Álvaro, or The Force of the Verse
This thesis documents a Montaje en Verso (Verse-Based Staging) process, developed within the course of the same name in the Performing Arts program at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. The project took place during the first semester of 2024 and was presented to the public from June 3rd to 6th at Teatro Casa Teatrova in Bogotá. The course aimed to produce a theatrical staging, in this case performed by fourteen acting students under the direction of playwright, director, teacher, and theatre researcher Camilo Ramírez Triana, who guided the scenic approach to the play Don Álvaro o la fuerza del sino, written within the context of Spanish Romanticism by Ángel Saavedra, Duke of Rivas. This thesis focuses on three methodological components selected by the author: 1. Contextual analysis of the play, including the historical background of the author and the story, as well as the author’s biography; 2. Theoretical study of Spanish verse: structure, axis, enjambment, synalepha, hiatus, diphthong, types of intonation, and verse pause; 3. Character creation: given circumstances, metric summary, and interpretation of unfamiliar words. Based on these elements, the work presents conclusive reflections drawn from the creative process, highlighting the challenges and accomplishments encountered throughout the staging
ÁLVARO DE CAMPOS, ATHENA E A FILOSOFIA
The magazine Athena appears to Fernando Pessoa as a stage for philosophical debate and the essay “What is metaphysics?” written by the heteronym Álvaro de Campos plays a fundamental role in this debate, for it mobilizes a set of concepts around metaphysics and art that are fundamental to understanding the constitution of a philosophy of plurality in Pessoa. Thus, based on the text “What is metaphysics?” in comparison with philosophical texts from Pessoa's Archive signed by other literary personalities of the Portuguese author, this article aims to show the importance of this text signed by Álvaro de Campos in the context of the constitution of a plural philosophical thought in Pessoa's writings.

El franquismo contra Álvaro Retana, by José Martínez Rubio, is a thorough study of the repression suffered by writer and illustrator Álvaro Retana under Franco’s dictatorship. Through a rigorous analysis of primary sources, such as censorship records and police reports, the author reconstructs the silencing process that marginalized Retana due to his transgressive work and his identity linked to dissident sexualities. This essay reclaims Retana’s figure as a symbol of cultural resistance, rescuing his legacy within a historiography that has traditionally consigned him to oblivion.
Japanese lives from Álvaro Enrigue’s archive
The links between Asian cultures and Latin America have been primarily approached from the political, economic and historical sciences. However, not enough research has been done yet in terms of cultural production and it is still much less in the literary area. The immigration contingencies of these Asian groups, their modes of adaptation and establishment are evident in different artistic registers (cinema, photography, music, performance, narrative), probably due to the long stay in different Latin American countries, but especially to the economic and technological impact that an Asian country like Japan has on the territory. This work focuses on the story "Un samurái ve el amanecer en Acapulco" written by Álvaro Enrigue in which he addresses the historical presence of the first Japanese migratory groups to New Spain. The present text is interested in exploring the construction carried out by Álvaro Enrigue in relation to Japanese narrative and history and exploring the appropriation he makes of it to nurture his own literary project. We will observe that the author carries out an intensive work in the exploration of historical archives and makes them intervene in the contemporary, with this we will reveal that literature is for the author a space for the reconstruction of the existing gaps in the archives.
One of the most characteristic facets of Álvaro d'Ors is his interest in regional law. This paper highlights his main contributions, especially that in which he answers to the clear denial of Prof. Federico de Castro of the existence of regional law. From the Orsian perspective, the their reason is not privilege but subsistence with what it implies of social reality. The author uses the Orsian theses to refer to Valencian regional law

Álvaro Menen Desleal’s Speculative Planetary Imagination
Science fiction has long held a marginalized status within the Latin American literary canon. This is due to myriad assumptions: its supposed inferior quality, sensationalist content, and disconnect from socio-historical reality. In this article, I argue for the recuperation of Salvadoran author Álvaro Menen Desleal as a foundational writer of Central American speculative fiction. I explore why Menen Desleal turns to sci-fi - abstracting his fictive worlds to far-off futures or other planets - at a moment when the writing of contemporaries of the Committed Generation was increasingly politicized and realist. I argue that Menen Desleal’s speculative planetary imagination toggles between scaling up localized concerns and evading them altogether to play with “universal” categories. By thinking with the categories of the human or the planet from an ex-centric position, Menen Desleal playfully appropriates generic convention, only to disrupt it from within. Science fiction has long held a marginalized status within the Latin American literary canon.
