«No despreciéis las profecías» (1 Ts 5, 20) El argumentum ex prophetia: historia y perspectivas

    No full text
The proof from prophecy, based on the fulfillment of messianic prophecies in Jesus Christ, has been a key component of the long tradition of Christian apologetics. However, it nowadays suffers from a lack of serious reflection and is unpopular among apologists. In this context, the present study investigates the reasons for this neglect of prophecy in apologetics and discusses its possible renewal. The thesis examinates the historical transformations of the argumentum ex prophetia covering the New Testament, the Church Fathers, the Middle Ages, and the Modern Age, with particular emphasis on the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It analyses neo-scholastic apologetics, the synthetic method, and post-conciliar perspectives. The historical presentation attempts to establish continuity across different epochs and highlight some overlooked authors, such as P. de Broglie and Touzard. The thesis also provides an analysis of the documents of the Magisterium of the Church on this theme. The systematic section of the dissertation offers some hermeneutical considerations on the relationship between the proof from prophecy and messianism, prophetism, the theology of history, and divine foreknowledge. It addresses the difficulties concerning the relationship with the Jews, human freedom, and divine activity in history. The final chapter proposes some directions for the reappraisal of the argument from prophecy. The conclusions of the thesis argue for the enduring value of prophecy as a sign of credibility and its deep connection with the principles of renewed apologetics. The theological content of the argument is shown to be rich and sophisticated

Meeting the 24‐h movement recommendations and its relationship with Mediterranean dietary patterns in early childhood: the SENDO project

    No full text
The aim of this study was twofold: (1) to assess the association between meeting all three 24-h movement recommendations and adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) in early childhood and (2) to examine whether participants who meet all three 24-h movement recommendations have greater adherence to the individual MedDiet foods/components than those who do not meet these recommendations. A cross-sectional study was conducted using a sample of 822 participants from the Seguimiento del Niño para un Desarrollo Óptimo (SENDO) project (Pamplona, Spain). Physical activity was assessed through a questionnaire that covered 17 different types of activities. Screen time was assessed by averaging the daily hours spent on activities such as watching TV, using a computer, or playing video games. Sleep duration was determined by taking the average of sleep durations during both weekdays and weekends. Adherence to the MedDiet was evaluated using the Mediterranean Diet Quality Index in children and adolescents (KIDMED). Greater odds of having an optimal adherence to the MedDiet were found for participants meeting all three 24-h movement recommendations (odds ratio (OR)=1.96, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.33–2.87, p=0.001) in comparison with their counterparts not meeting these recommendations. Specifically, significant differences were found for “fruit or fruit juice every day” (p=0.012), “second fruit every day” (p=0.001), and “fresh or cooked vegetables regularly once a day” (p=0.018) in relation to meeting all three 24-h movement recommendation status. Conclusions: This study provides further evidence of the potential importance of meeting all three 24-h movement recommendations to adopt a healthier eating pattern

    No full text
Introduction: Binge drinking among young people has replaced other more traditional forms of drinking and has increased significantly, especially in recent decades. An adequate study of this behaviour is the first step towards being able to identify, treat and refer young people affected by this consumption trend. Therefore, it is necessary to study the predictors of binge drinking in this population. Objective: To identify the predictors of binge drinking among young university students. Methodology: A narrative review of the literature was conducted using PubMed, CINAHL and PsycINFO databases based on the selected research question. Results: Twenty-two quantitative design articles were included, identifying different predictors grouped into the following themes: individual predictors, social predictors and environmental predictors. Conclusions: The results highlight the importance of nursing professionals directing their efforts to promote new prevention campaigns according to the predictors found, investing in adequate training for students and continuing research to develop effective interventions for this target population

A 40-year-old male consulted complaining of progressive dys- pnea worsening over the last 4 years. During history, the patient mentioned motor-vehicle incidents at the ages of 6 and 12 years and posteriorly left diaphragmatic paralysis at 14. In 2019, he was hospitalized on the grounds of a respiratory infection. Upon pul- monary auscultation, borborygmi were found. A thoracoabdominal Computed Tomography (CT) was taken, revealing a diaphragmatic hernia of approximately 6.5 cm × 4.5 cm. The hernial sac contained abdominal viscera in the left hemithorax. A comparison of the 2023 CT scan with the one obtained in 2019 demonstrates progression of the herniation

Excessive body weight in developmental coordination disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    No full text
Evidence on the link between developmental coordination disorder (DCD) and obesity and overweight is mixed. Based on a pre-registered protocol (PROSPERO: CRD42023429432), we conducted the first systematic review/meta-analysis on the association between DCD and excessive weight. Web of Science, PubMed and an institutional database aggregator were searched until the 18th of December 2023. We assessed study quality using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and study heterogeneity using Q and I2 statistics. Data from 22 studies were combined, comprising 11,330 individuals out of which 1861 had DCD. The main analysis showed a significant association between DCD and higher body weight (OR:1.87, 95 % CI =1.43, 2.44). Meta-regression analyses indicated that the relationship was mediated by age, with stronger effects in studies with higher mean age (p 0.004). We conclude that DCD is associated with obesity and overweight, and this association increases with age. Our study could help to implement targeted prevention and intervention measures

Modelling loans to non‐financial corporations in the eurozone: a long‐memory approach

    No full text
This paper uses fractional integration and cointegration methods to analyze the long-run relationship between loans to non-financial corporations, real gross domestic product, real gross fixed capital formation, the cost of borrowing differential between long- and short-term rates, and a proxy for the cost of debt, securities, and equity issuance. The analysis includes four Eurozone countries, namely Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, and spans the most recent decades. More precisely, fractional integration and cointegration models are estimated to investigate the persistence of the series as well as their long-run relationships and short-run dynamics using both unrestricted and restricted specifications. The univariate results are heterogeneous, the highest degrees of integration being found in the case of loans to non-financial corporations, whilst the multivariate ones provide evidence of a single fractional cointegration vector as well as of a lower adjustment speed to the long-run equilibrium compared to previous studies in all four countries. Moreover, both the short- and long-run response of loans to exogenous shocks to real gross domestic product and the cost of borrowing differentials differs across countries because of country-specific factors
