Uma Educação Visual por entre Literatura, Fotografia e Filosofia
Full text link“Que certeza é esta que uma lente fria documenta?” (Bernardo Soares). É dentro do debate sobre as possibilidades de expressão, produção e criação por meio de fotografias que este texto movimenta-se e deixa emergir potências para pensar conexões entre política e educação. “Tive um sonho como uma fotografia” (Alberto Caeiro). Entremeados a pensamentos de autores da filosofia e dos estudos da imagem como Gilles Deleuze, Geofrey Batchen e Antonio Fatorelli, trechos de obras de Manoel de Barros, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Fernando Pessoa e Mia Couto, que versam sobre imagens fotográficas, movimentam o jogo entre visível, real, imaginário e ficcional suscitado pelas imagens. “Difícil fotografar o silêncio” (Manoel de Barros). Uma aposta na potência ambígua da fotografia que gera a ficção no interior do desejo de retenção do real/visível. Nestas passagens entre poesias e prosas, fotografia e filosofia, buscam-se subsídios para uma educação visual como gesto criativo, ao mesmo tempo poético, ficcional e político. Penetremos fundo no puro enigma das imagens (Carlos Drummond de Andrade). O mundo das plantas Kariri-Xocó: criações poéticas e fotográficas com o grupo Sabuká
Full text linkEste trabalho traz criações fotográficas e narrativas orais na forma de um ensaio poético e visual, realizado com o grupo indígena Sabuká Kariri-Xocó. Partimos de uma perspectiva de pesquisa acadêmica na qual a experimentação do pensamento dá-se no movimento inventivo com as imagens e com as palavras. Desejamos manter aberta uma zona de vizinhança, na qual o pensamento acadêmico é atravessado por outros modos de expressão e percepção do mundo. O trabalho é resultado de um projeto de intercâmbio realizado há 8 anos na Universidade Estadual de Campinas com a aldeia Kariri-Xocó de Porto Real do Colégio, situada no estado de Alagoas (Brasil). Os Kariri-Xocó abrem-nos aos devires indígenas pelos seus cantos, suas imagens, suas narrativas, seus sonhos e relações com o universo vegetal, abrem espaços/tempos de partilhas sobre seus modos de existir e resistir
Educação ambiental e foto-dispositivo: outras imagens do Sertão do Peri
Full text linkDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Ciências da Educação, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação, Florianópolis, 2011Educação Ambiental e Estudos Culturais são articulados nesta pesquisa a partir de inspirações em autores considerados pós-modernos e pós-estruturalistas. Foi realizada no Parque Municipal da Lagoa do Peri (Florianópolis/SC), com pessoas que habitam um determinado lugar do mesmo, a Zona de Paisagem Cultural que é conhecida como Sertão do Peri. Nesse lugar cercado por montanhas, conflitos, #tradições#, #natureza#, mistérios; circulam representações que enquadram seus habitantes dentro de algumas categorias recorrentes as quais busco desnaturalizar, mostrando o caráter social, cultural e histórico de tais invenções. Essas representações dizem respeito à instituição dessa população como #tradicional# e como inserida em um ambiente #natural#, sendo observadas em algumas imagens produzidas tanto pelos moradores como por eu mesma, que fotografei o Sertão durante minhas idas a campo. Outro movimento de escrita, também presente neste estudo, busca pensar com as imagens sem julgá-las, percorrendo o silêncio, o inaudito, o não representável a partir das composições imagéticas a serem observadas sob a latente pergunta: que Ser-tão outro lhe soa ao entrar em contato com estas imagens?Environmental Education and Cultural Studies are articulated in this research based on inspiration from authors considered postmodern and poststructuralist. It was realized at the Parque Municipal da Lagoa do Peri (Florianópolis / SC), who inhabit a certain place in the same, the Cultural Landscape Zone that is known as the Sertão do Peri. In this place surrounded by mountains, conflicts, "traditions," "nature," mysteries; circulating representations that its inhabitants fall within certain categories which applicants seek denaturing, showing the social, cultural and history of these inventions. These representations relate to the institution of this population as "traditional" and inserted as a "natural" environment. This represented the applicant can be seen in some photographs produced by the residents as much for myself, that photographed the Sertão during my field trips. Another movement of writing, also present in this study, is the one who thinks the images without judging them, covering, instead, the silence, the unheard, and the unrepresentable. These elements appear from the visual compositions observed from the following question: what otherness you listen to when in contact with these images
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Full text linkWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
