This investigation is entailed to the Framenet Brasil Project and it takes the Frame Semantics as a theoretical basis, which is a study field founded by Fillmore (2006) and whose central postulate is: the linguistic meanings are relates to the conceptual scenes. This theoretical field is based on the notion of frames, which are conceptual schemes organized in such a way that, so as to comprehend any of its constitutive elements, it's mandatory to also comprehend all of its other elements. Language is observed from this view as a phenomenon linked to other human abilities. This research aims at describing the linguistic occurrences of the frame Experience bodily harm and its elements, considering some verbal lexical units which evoke it, for instance: Fracture, Hurt, Contuse, Sprain, Cut, Brake, Burn, Dislocate e Distend. This piece of work contributes to the FrameNet Brasil project data base, whose focus is to make a frame net of Brazilian Portuguese available. The methodology adopted were the standards developed by Ruppenhofer et al (2006) in the so called "The book", which establishes parameters for the lexicographic annotation. This annotation keeps records of the lexical unit syntactic and semantic (the valences) combinatory properties through the semantic labeling, i.e., of the nuclear and non-nuclear frame element labeling and its grammatical constituents (syntagmatic types and grammatical functions).Esta investigação vincula-se ao Projeto FrameNet Brasil e tem como base teórica a Semântica de Frames, linha de estudos cunhada por Fillmore (2006), cujo postulado central é: as significações lingüísticas são relacionadas às cenas conceptuais.
This paper aims to present the description and modeling of Imperfect Past Tense constructions in Brazilian Portuguese (PT-Br) and Spanish (ES) to contribute to the development of a machine translation system that uses the enriched FrameNet Brasil (FN-Br) database to improve machine translation system outputs. First, a bibliographic analysis of Imperfect Past Tense constructions in PT-Br and ES was conducted. Subsequently, to verify occurrences of this construction, a corpus was created with occurrences of the Imperfect Past Tense in both PT-Br and ES, consisting of data taken from short stories (in the target language and translated version) by Machado de Assis and Gabriel García Márquez. According to the data, discrepancies were observed in the use of the Imperfect Tense. The contexts of these discrepancies were then analyzed between PT-Br to ES translations and ES to PT-Br translations. The analysis indicated that the FN-Br Constructicon, in its current format, does not accommodate morphological constructions. Therefore, the inclusion of a resource in the Constructicon to store computational linguistic models, in the form of morphological constructions, was proposed. To achieve this, it is intended to incorporate restrictions related to modality, aspect, and verbal tense applied to constructions like the Imperfect Past Tense.
Towards an Open Dutch FrameNet Lexicon and Corpus
This paper reports on the progress of the development of an Open Dutch FrameNet lexicon and annotated corpus. We started the project in 2017 with the annotation of a Dutch corpus of written Dutch that was previously annotated with PropBank predicates and roles. The corpus represents a diverse set of written Dutch texts. We discuss the annotation results and process. From this corpus, we have derived an initial Dutch lexicon with FrameNet frames. In the meanwhile, we designed a method to collect texts that exhibit a large degree of variation in framing similar events. We will apply this method in the future to extend the representative corpus vertically for certain types of events to obtain more insight into variation of framing
Usage-based models in linguistics: an interview with Joan Bybee
In this special issue of Linguística, a number of linguistic analyses are presented to the reader. Despite focusing on different phenomena in different languages, all of them share a common analytical approach: the usage-based one. In this electronic interview, Joan Bybee, distinguished professor at the University of New Mexico and one of the most prominent researchers on Usage-Based Linguistics, discusses the foundations of usage-based models, the arguments in favor of adopting them and their relation to other theories of language, mainly Cognitive Linguistics and Construction Grammar.</p
The linguistic-computacional modeling of metonymy in the framenetbrasil lexical database: a case study
This work reports on ongoing research aimed at modeling a metonymic relationship in the FrameNet Brasil database. This paper is based on a case study with the Teams frame. Both the frame and the corpus consulted are part of a frame-based trilingual (Portuguese -- Spanish -- English) electronic dictionary covering the soccer, tourism and World Cup domains developed by FrameNet Brasil. Thebasic infrastructure, analytical categories and methodology used were those developed for FrameNet (Fillmore et al. 2003, Baker et al. 2003, Ruppenhofer et al. 2010), which can be defined as anapplication of Frame Semantics to practical lexicography

This paper describes the lexicographically DESTRUITION frame, guided by perspective of Semantic Frames. The search corpus is composed of lexical united ten (annihilate, raze, demolish, undo, dismantle, disassemble, destroy, dismantle, devastated, explode, vaporize) evoke to the frame of DESTROYING. The examples containing the lexical units (ULs) are retired the newspaper articles and films subtitles in Portuguese in Brazil, selected from seven corpus the are available to he public. They are: ANCIB, ECI-EBR, NILC/SAO CARLOS, NURC-RJ, LF and two search engines LINGUATECA and SKETCH ENGINE BETA. We begin the analysis of frame DESTRUCTION from the texts and corpora gathered from the search engines mentioned above, following the criteria describe on “THE BOOK* authors Ruppenhofer J., Ellsworth M., Petruck M. R. L., Johnson C. R. e Scheffczyk (2006) available to be downloaded on the website of FrameNet.and established methodology in the pilot project as Framenet in Berckyley. The analysis was based on the labeling of sentences, having as a mirror frame taken form English (DESTROYING) found on the page FrameNet.com.br. Such labeling syntactic and semantic is characterized by generating different patterns of competition arising basis on the different information of a pragmatic, semantic that are present in each of the sentences analyzed. Labeling these were the basis for classify the lexical units that were divided into layers from the Frame Elements (FE) of Grammatical Function (GF) and Type Syntagmatic (TS). Such labeling based in sentences, in the description of the layers (FE, GF, TS) and the valences generates the different patterns can reveal exhaustively, the occurrence of lexical units (LUs) in question. From such labeling we recognize the markings of place and time, which are explicitly determined in the frame. In this work it was found in a frame of Destruction change in focus from the scene of destruction which now stands the destroyer/cause and now stand the undergoer (of destruction).Este trabalho descreve lexicograficamente o Frame de DESTRUIÇÃO, guiando-se pela perspectiva da Semântica de Frames.
