Cannabis use and physical activity among 89,777 adolescents aged 12-15 years from 21 low- and middle-income countries
Background: Cannabis legalization and use are increasing globally, however, little is known about associations between cannabis use and other health behaviors, such as physical activity (PA). Importantly, the extent to which cannabis use is associated with PA in adolescents is yet to be explored in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where there may be unique sociodemographic and environmental characteristics compared with high-income countries. Therefore, this study examined the association between PA and cannabis use among adolescents in 21 LMICs using data from the 2010–2016 Global School-based Student Health Survey. Methods: A multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed among a final sample of 89,777 adolescents (49.2% females) aged 12–15 years with a mean (SD) age of 13.7 (0.9) years. Results: The overall prevalence of past (i.e., in lifetime but not in past 30 days) and current (in past 30 days) cannabis use were 1.0% and 2.9% respectively, while the prevalence of adequate PA in the past week (7 days/week of 60 min of PA) was 16.6%. The prevalence of adequate levels of PA in past and current cannabis use was 7.3% and 6.9%, respectively. Current and past cannabis use (vs. never) were associated with a significant 0.62 (95% CI = 0.41-0.94) and 0.43 (95%CI = 0.30-0.63) times lower odds for achieving adequate levels of PA, respectively. Conclusion: The results underscore the high prevalence of low PA among adolescents in LMICs, and emphasize the need to understand behavioral factors that may affect PA levels, such as cannabis use, when designing interventions to improve health.</p
Measurement of the ratio of prompt χ c to J / ψ production in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
The prompt production of charmonium χ c and J / ψ states is studied in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The χ c and J / ψ mesons are identified through their decays χ c → J / ψ γ and J / ψ → μ + μ - using 36 pb - 1 of data collected by the LHCb detector in 2010. The ratio of the prompt production cross-sections for χ c and J / ψ, σ (χ c → J / ψ γ) / σ (J / ψ), is determined as a function of the J / ψ transverse momentum in the range 2 < p T J / ψ < 15 GeV / c. The results are in excellent agreement with next-to-leading order non-relativistic expectations and show a significant discrepancy compared with the colour singlet model prediction at leading order, especially in the low p T J / ψ region

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
C M Taylor Keylogging Data: 17 Oct 2014 – 07 Nov 2014
This dataset is comprised of keylogging data from the author C M Taylor captured October 2014; Keystroke files: 17/10/2014 – 07/11/2014. This data was created using keylogging software Spectre Pro (SpectreSoft) installed on a dedicated IBM Thinkpad laptop and then exported as TXT and RTF files. They can be used for image and text analysis, teaching, art projects, or anything else of inspiration
Malgrange's vanishing theorem for weakly pseudoconcave CR manifolds
The authors prove the following CR version of Malgrange's theorem: Assume M is a smooth, non-compact, weakly pseudoconcave CR manifold of type (n,k) of finite kind. Then the highest ∂−M cohomology Hp,n∂−M(M) vanishes for 0≤p≤n+k. This generalises a similar result for real analytic CR manifolds by the third author [in Hyperbolic problems and regularity questions, 137--150, Birkhäuser, Basel, 2007; MR2298789 (2008d:32034)].
Furthermore, they prove the following approximation theorem: If M is as above and U⊂⊂V⊂⊂M are two open sets such that V\sbs UV∖U has no compact connected component then for 0≤p≤n+k the restriction map Zp,n−1(V−)→Zp,n−1(U) has dense image, with respect to the \scr C^\inftyC∞ topology on U. Transition to turbulence in a qblique shock-wave/boundary-layer interaction at M=15
Direct numerical simulations are carried out for different forcing techniques to trigger transition during the interaction between an oblique shock-wave and a laminar boundary-layer at M = 1.5. Three forcing methods are used: a) forcing of oblique unstable modes, whose shape and behaviour are determined by the local linear stability theory, b) broadband free-stream acoustic disturbances, and c) a cold plasma flow control device. While the oblique-mode breakdown is dominant for low-amplitude forcing, long streaky structures drive the transition process in a high-amplitude disturbance environment. LES are also performed on the experimental setup by the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITAM) from Novosibirsk State University with cold plasma actuation. As well as the disturbance type, the effect of Reynolds number and forcing amplitude will be investigated
