Capturing movement patterns during procedural control activities in air traffic control / S.M.B. Abdul Rahman ...[et al.]
The Air Traffic Controller (ATCo) is responsible for monitoring aircraft movement within a specified airspace by using radar and/or procedural
control as its monitoring instrument. Research looks at the possibility of using human motion analysis in capturing signs of distress during sole
procedural monitoring activity by the ATCo. In this research, it is hypothesized that a higher mental task load during a procedural control
monitoring activity will be exhibited through more rapid or unusual body movement. To analyze this, a human-in-the-loop (HITL) experiment was
conducted to monitor the ATCo physical response, specifically upper body movements during control activities. This was done using KINECT®
as the device to monitor the movement. Based on the results, the subjects did exhibit a change in frequency or extremity of their upper body movement during the course of the experiment. However, this could be either due to task-related or stress-related body movement. Thus, a more elaborate study on baseline subject-scenario body movement during control activities for each controller is needed in order to clearly isolate signs of high mental task load or distress
Solution Space-based Approach to Assess Sector Complexity in Air Traffic Control
Various methods have been introduced in the past in efforts to optimize airspace sector design and the allocation of air traffic controllers. This is done with the aim to accommodate growth, increase productivity and most importantly to ensure safety of air traffic. To accomplish this, a more comprehensive understanding of human workload, especially that of the controllers involved, is required. In Air Traffic Control (ATC), there exists a maximum number of aircraft per sector that the Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) is assumed to be capable of controlling simultaneously. The maximum controllable traffic is gathered based on experimentation and subjective assessments of controller workload, which are sector specific. This threshold is not to be exceeded in order to maintain a reasonable and sustainable level of workload. However, a sector complexity metric based on the maximum number of aircraft does not consider the dynamic nature of air traffic, thus limiting the possibility of accommodating the growth of air traffic. Consequently, to better support strategic decisions that need information on ATC workload, we need better measures than just the number of aircraft. Metrics, for example the Dynamic Density (DD) that use a weighted combination of static and dynamic airspace properties, such as the number of aircraft flying through a sector, the ratio of climbing, cruising and descending aircraft, the horizontal proximity between aircraft et cetera, have been constructed and proposed as a sector complexity measure. The proposed weightings are determined through regression analysis on expert judgement for a particular sector design. As a result, these metrics become highly dependent on sector and operator-centered factors and therefore not uniformly applicable to a wider range of operators and sector designs. A careful calibration would then be needed to tailor the measure to each individual operator and also to the considered sector. In an effort to find a more objective measure of sector complexity and a predictor of workload, this thesis investigates a constraint-based measure based on the Solution Space Diagram (SSD). In essence, the SSD is a method to observe aircraft restrictions and opportunities to resolve air traffic conflicts in both the speed and heading dimensions. The SSD can be described as the available control area for the controlled aircraft in respect to other observed aircraft within the vicinity. The construction of the SSD is based on the projection of the ‘zone of conflict’ of the observed aircraft where the key constraint is the 5 NM separation minimum between aircraft. When considering the SSD for any individual aircraft, all neighboring aircraft introduce a ‘no-go area’ or ‘zone of conflict’ on the SSD. Intrusion of this zone is called a conflict, or, loss of separation. Looking at the results of the numerous off-line and real-time human-in-the-loop experiments, the proposed SSD metric shows a promising prospect of being an objective measure of sector complexity and a viable subjective workload predictor. However, these results are based on specific experiment settings, assumptions, and simplifications that were made throughout the research. Thus, to prove that the method was found to be the most suited metric in measuring sector complexity, a more extensive research regarding its performance and robustness should be done in the future. More comprehensive research on sector complexity has to be done in order to have a better understanding of sector complexity and controller workload. Also, to keep up with the relevance of the current situation, the extension of the SSD to the third dimension is crucial.Control and SimulationAerospace Engineerin

In the past, Malay Muslims contributed by enriching the collection of writings. Among them is Shaykh ‘Abdul Qadir bin ‘Abdul Rahim Bukit Bayas. His book, entitled Risalah Fi Bayan Hukm Al-Bay’ Wa Al-Riba is an essential reference, particularly in discussingFiqh al- Mu’amalat. This study will attempt to highlight the author’s biodata and the history of the book, how the manuscript is tracked, as well as analysing the content of his book. The data were collected from library research, documentation method and interviews. Then, they were analysed by analysis content method. The study found that Shaykh is one of the Malay scholars who played a role in delivering the Fiqh al-Mu’amalat in the local mould. In conclusion, the author is considered to be an influential scholar in Terengganu although he is not so famous. The book should be consulted in order to gain benefit therefrom
ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS DI MEDIA SOSIAL (STUDI PADA FENOMENA PRO-KONTRA PENOLAKAN DAKWAH USTADZ ABDUL SOMAD)
Da'wah and technological development are inseparable, this is based on the concept of contemporary da'wah that is easily accepted by the present, various new phenomena such as the case of rejection of clerics in several regions arise along with the rise of activity on social media, which incidentally is full of information which is not necessarily true (Tornberg & Tornberg, 2016: 132-134). The news of the pros and cons of rejecting the da'wah experienced by Ustadz Abdul Somad was forwarded freely on social media, one of the social media is twitter. In analyzing discourse on social media, especially Twitter, the author uses analysis technic of critical discourse analysis theory by Norman Fairclough to dismantle discourse practices (Eriyanto, 2015: 285), and includes Antonio Gramsci's theory of hegemony to see discourse battles (Ives, 2004: 63 ) in the phenomenon of Ustadz Abdul Somad's rejection. The results of this study include: (1) The issue of the affiliation of Ustadz Abdul Somad can be mediated with tabayyun and clarification through the media, both traditional and social. However, the issue of khilafah is growing until it displays a process of mutual accusation between the parties involved in the discourse of the khilafah revival; 2) The discourse of Ustadz Abdul Somad's rejection on social media in this study contains trends from two different ideologies namely Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and Hisbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI (3) The other tendencies are also influenced by political interests; 4) Between HTI and Banser has an impact on the image of Prabowo's and Jokowi's strongholds with the issue of the fight. HTI was identified as part of opposition supporters, while the impact on the Jokowi camp with anti-Islamic issues, because it was deemed not to show an attitude to clean up the chaos caused by burning the flag at the commemoration of the “Hari Santri Nasional

Receiving information from indirect sources is common in daily lives. This may be due to the time constraint, giving priority to one’s current engagement, physical distance, mandatory non-face-to-face communication, and other factors. In fact, most of an individual’s time is spent on processing indirect information whether one deals with his office work or family matters. This chapter shows the extent of congruence that is identified by a co-author based on the description of the other two co-authors who attended the talk on the topic of “Budi,” “Sejahtera,” and “Leadership.” The lead author created and sent an attachment that contains a combination of dichotomous and open-ended questions related to the three-terminology theme to the other co-authors for their independent views. He analyzed their textual opinions and produced his analysis of the converging and diverging themes based on the opinions provided. This case study helps people become aware of the varying amount and depth of information acquired by listeners to a public lecture, moreover via online platform rather than among the audience of a lecture in a hall. In this case, only two listeners are involved, making content analysis easy.

In riot
Many scholars and historians have professed that America’s “original sin” is slavery and that the nation has moved slowly, and at times stubbornly, towards repentance and atonement for this sin. Even after the emancipation of blacks in America, the scars of racism remain. Throughout the centuries, there have been a number of slave revolts, rebellions and race riots that have reddened America’s soil. In Riot is a volume of poetry that examines these riots, most specifically the race riots of the 20th century from the 1906 riot of Atlanta to the 1992 LA riots. The events of these riots are told through the voice of a collective “We,” which may be interpreted as the voice of a people who participated or suffered in these riots. Martin Luther King said, “A riot is the language of the unheard.” But in In Riot we hear their actual thoughts and justifications for rebellion. Each riot is dealt with in its own section but pieced together to create a long narrative or “epic” poem. Each section opens with a brief overview of the time and place the riots occurred. The reader is then introduced to a number of characters who help tell the story; some of these characters are actual historical figures that played a central role in the riot or its causes. The second section of the volume deals with other issues of race and racism in America from injustices of the criminal justice system to poverty, gentrification and the destructive nature of dangerous stereotypes in the media and popular culture of black violence and criminality.M.F.A.by Malik Abdul-Jabbaa
