    Investigation of the influence of an intermediate adapter on the dynamic load of a supporting structure of a platform wagon

    Summary: This article is focused on a presentation of the results of the theoretical justification of the use of an intermediate adapter placed between the main supporting structure of a platform wagon and the cargo. Such a decision will contribute to reducing the vertical load of both the supporting structure of a platform wagon and ensuring the safety of the cargo transported on it. The mathematical modelling of the vertical load of a platform wagon supporting structure when moving along the joint unevenness of the track was carried out to substantiate the use of the designed intermediate adapter. In this regard, a corresponding mathematical model was created. There is taken into account an oscillating system consisting of four bodies: the platform wagon supporting structure, two bogies (the 18–100 model) and the cargo. At the same time, the cargo is considered up to the full carrying capacity of the platform wagon. The track is considered elastic-viscous. The mathematical model was solved in the MathCad software. The initial conditions (displacement and velocities) are set to be close to zero. The results of the solution established that the accelerations acting on the platform wagon supporting structure are reduced by 8.4 % compared to those acting on the typical structure without the designed intermediate adapter. The acceleration acting on the cargo placed on the platform wagon frame is 11.9 % lower in comparison with the standard load perception scheme. The strength analysis of the adapter was calculated considering the determined values of the accelerations. At the same time, the finite element method was used for the strength analysis of the adapter in the SolidWorks Simulation software. It was determined that the calculated maximum stresses in the adapter structure are 4.1 % lower than permissible stress values. Therefore, the strength condition of the adapter is met. The performed research will contribute to a creation of developments in the design of modern designs of railway vehicle

    Beloved woman’s character in Spyridon Cherkasenko’s love lyric This article focuses on the character of a lyrical hero’s beloved woman. The present study analyzes the features of her appearance and character. It reveals the fact that the author presents only some single details of the portrait with the main focus on the woman’s eyes and lips. To expand the portrait, the author compares her beauty with the beauty of nature. We learn that the character of the beloved woman is changeful but, at the same time, strong and attractive for the lyrical hero. A research shows the meaning of a number of associative images in which the girl appears to the loving man. A little less attention is paid to other personifi cated characters who are witnesses and accomplices of the love stories. The author of this article concludes that landscape is not a mere background, but also an important acting character, utterly depending on the lyrical hero’s mood. </jats:p

    Lwów Trade in the Inter–war PeriodThe article focuses on the history of domestic trade in Lwów during the inter–war period. The author examined the state of trade in the town prior to the First World War by analysing the dynamic of the changing number of commercial enterprises in 1921–1939, and that of professionally active persons and independent employees involved in commerce.Upon the basis of assorted statistical material the article explains the ethnic–religious structure of the traders as well as their specialisations. The author also analysed the size of the enterprises in question and studied marketing methods applied by merchants for the purpose of developing their business ventures.Finally, the analysis encompasses mutual relations of various groups of traders (i.a. the negative attitude towards Jewish merchants in the second half of the 1930s). The last part of the article outlines the policy pursued by the state and the local authorities towards traders

    Strength analysis of sectional flat wagon supporting structures when transported by a railway ferry

    The goal of the research is to present the main peculiarities, with relate with the loads of flat wagon during maritime transport. A feature of the flat wagon is that its structure consists of two sections and special nodes are provided to fasten it to the ferry deck. A derived mathematical model expresses the lateral loading of the flat wagon under the conditions of a railway ferry roll. This derived model allows to to determine the acceleration and, accordingly, the loads due to the dynamic effects, which act to the flat wagon main load-bearing structure. These loads were considered in calculations of the strength of the main load-bearing structure of the solved wagon. The calculations lead to the results, that the strength of the main load-bearing structure of the considered flat wagon is maintained under the conditions of the considered type of oscillations. The performed research will contribute to improving the safety of maritime transport

    Study of loading of an improved container design during transportation by railway

    The object of research. The object of research is the processes of occurrence, perception and redistribution of loads in the design of a container with a frame made of square pipes and lining made of smooth sheets. Investigated problem. Under operating conditions, damage to containers may occur due to the loads acting on them during transportation by various modes of transport. One of the most determining among such loads are dynamic loads, which are experienced not only by the container structure, but also by the cargo placed in it. As a result, there may be damage to the structure of the container, as well as to the cargo, which necessitates additional costs, both for the repair of containers and for reimbursement of expenses for damage to the transported cargo. In addition, this situation is unfavorable from an environmental point of view. In this regard, there is a need to conduct research to improve the design of a universal container in order to reduce its load, as well as increase operational efficiency. The main scientific results. A scientific substantiation of the use of square pipes as components of the frame of a universal container has been carried out. The area of practical use of research results. The sphere of practical use of the obtained results is the engineering industry, in particular railway transport. Innovative technological product. The concept of a universal container with a frame made of square pipes and a lining made of smooth sheets. Scope of the innovative technological product. The developments proposed as part of the study will be useful recommendations for creating innovative vehicle designs, including modular ones
