Arsitektur Biomimetic dalam Upaya Pengurangan Emisi Karbon pada Bangunan Riset Kelautan dan Perikanan

    No full text
Emisi karbon berlebih menimbulkan dampak buruk yaitu pemanasan global. =============================================================================================================================== Excess carbon emissions have a negative impact, namely global warming. These adverse effects are felt by living things. Difficulty adapting to hot temperatures felt by animals can lead to extinction. The construction sector and related industries are the largest contributors to carbon emissions. The carbon produced in this sector disrupts the existing carbon cycle, so that the right building design steps will have a major impact on the world's steps in reducing carbon emissions and normalizing the carbon cycle in nature. By using an ecological design approach and a biomimetic method that imitates photosynthesis, the marine and fisheries research building design has a new perspective on the application of technology and the application of materials that minimize carbon emissions. The applied biomimetic technology is an algae facade that can help reduce carbon by up to 3.5 tons annually. In addition, strategies in choosing materials that produce little carbon in their life cycle, as well as minimizing the use of air conditioners by adjusting the orientation of buildings will help reduce carbon emissions significantly

Polarization, motion, and fragmentation: Exploring the role of quarks in the nucleon through semi-inclusive longitudinal spin asymmetries at HERMES

The motivation for this work was to improve upon prior analyses that extracted the quark helicity distributions, ¢q(x), of the proton. These extractions, performed by the HERMES collaboration, were excellent analyses, the most recent of which contained the vast majority of the data analyzed here. \If they were so good, how much could you improve on their results?' one might ask. Well, not to spoil the punch line, but some. The precision was improved modestly and our understanding of the systematic uncertainties was improved more signi¯cantly. The reader is welcome to jump to Chapter 6 and see. The approach that we took however was to try many new things. Not all of these e®orts yielded improvements on the scale we had hoped for, but many interesting new techniques were developed and we were able to produce several related new results along the way. Let me suggest then that rather than thinking of Chapter 6 as the result of this analysis, consider that there are valuable new results and insights scattered throughout this work. Chapter 4 contains several new double-spin asymmetries which are results in their own right. The ph? dependence is plotted for the ¯rst time with HERMES data which is uniquely hadron separated. The hadron charge di®erence asymmetry is presented which, in combination with the quark helicity densities of Chapter 6, can put limits on fragmentation symmetry breaking in semi-inclusive DIS. Additionally, a novel method of unfolding yields (reducing smearing e®ects from detector resolution limitations and QED radiation) was developed and presented here for the ¯rst time which potentially allows new kinds of asymmetries to be constructed which were unavailable before. Also, this chapter describes the method by which the ¯rst ever three dimensionally binned SIDIS double-spin asymmetries were produced. These asymmetries, which will be used as the data inputs for the ¢q(x) extraction, are valuable inputs to world ¯ts being performed by theorists. Chapter 5 further explores this idea of fragmentation symmetry breaking with Monte Carlo studies of fragmentation functions. These studies test assumptions which are frequently made in the interpretation of asymmetries like the hadron charge di®erence of the prior chapter and suggest that these assumptions should be approached with some caution. Also, a technique for tuning and more importantly propagating systematic uncertainty through non-analytic Monte Carlo models, like the Lund-String model which provides an essential input to the ¢q(x) extraction, is developed vi and potentially has widespread applications. That being said, the author hopes you enjoy the techniques developed and results presented in the following chapters

The talk gives an outline of the JOIN² project for our new partners at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), Dubna, Russian Federation. Starting out with the motivation of the project an overview of the project partners an their current status is given before diving into the basic features of JOIN² repositories, centred around a web submission based document workflow. The difficult use case of author disambiguation is used to show the ideas of authority control present at various points within the system. In part III some newer extended features are presented. These include the handling of publication charges, a short outline of the new DESY publication workflow for proceedings and Invenios usage as an integrated library system at DESY. Finally a short outlook on the current hot topic of 'data publication' is given

Operation of a free-electron laser from the extreme ultraviolet to the water window

We report results on the performance of a free-electron laser operating at a wavelength of 13.7 nm where unprecedented peak and average powers for a coherent extreme-ultraviolet radiation source have been measured. In the saturation regime, the peak energy approached 170 J for individual pulses, and the average energy per pulse reached 70 J. The pulse duration was in the region of 10 fs, and peak powers of 10 GW were achieved. At a pulse repetition frequency of 700 pulses per second, the average extreme-ultraviolet power reached 20 mW. The output beam also contained a significant contribution from odd harmonics of approximately 0.6% and 0.03% for the 3rd (4.6 nm) and the 5th (2.75 nm) harmonics, respectively. At 2.75 nm the 5th harmonic of the radiation reaches deep into the water window, a wavelength range that is crucially important for the investigation of biological samples

Title: Analysis of dijet events in diffractive ep interactions with tagged leading proton at the H1 experiment Author: Richard Polifka Department: Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics Supervisor: RNDr. Alice Valkárová, DrSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: [email protected] Abstract: An inclusive dijet production in diffractive deep-inelastic scattering is measured. The diffractive selection is based on tagging of the leading proton in the Forward Proton Spectrometer. The statistics of events obtained during the HERA II running period (integrated luminosity of 156.7 pb−1 ) enables the measurement of jet final states with leading proton for the first time. The data cover the phase space of xIP < 0.1, |t| <= 1.0 GeV2 and 4 <= Q2 <= 110 GeV2 . The dijet data are compared with the next to leading order predictions of the quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The phase space of diffractive dijets is in this analysis by factor of 3 in xIP larger than in previous measurements. The QCD predictions based on the DGLAP parton evolution describe the measured data well even in a non-DGLAP enriched phase space where one on the jets goes into the region close to the direction of the outgoing proton. The measured single-differential cross sections are compared to several Monte Carlo models with different treatment of..
