smelli – the SMEFT Likelihood
I present the Python package smelli that implements a global likelihood function in the space of dimension-six Wilson coefficients in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). The likelihood includes contributions from a large number of flavor and other precision observables, currently 399 in total
Profesionals executioners : Höss, Stroop y Stangl. Comparative analysis of the Holocaust perpetrators by them owns words
This paper is a comparative study on Holocaust perpetrators. After a brief introduction about the nazi phenomenon in context, three cases of their protagonists are analyzed: Rudolf Höss, Jürgen Stroop and Franz Stangl; commander of the Auschwitz death camp, responsible for the liquidation of the Warsaw ghetto and the commander of the Treblinka death camp respectively. The Höss case is studied taking as a source his autobiography , while the remaining two from interviews and investigations of Kazimierz Moczarski and Gitta Sereny . Hss, Stangl and Stroop were convicted for the deaths of 1,100,000 , between 750.00 and 900.00 and 350,000 people respectively . In this sense a premise of this work is that none of them can be considered ordinary man or ordinary person; on the contrary following Raul Hilberg they are identified as fully impregnated with the subject worldview and ideology of National Socialism and SS from a frame of reference prior aggressive and violent were eventually becoming mass murderers. As Gustavo Cosacov holds these individuals would own a "malignant or inverted holiness" that had replaced his Christian - Western ethical and moral values; allowing them to systematically commit crimes. Although the issue of the perpetrators has been less addressed than victims, in the historiographical field there are strong contributions. Suffice appoint Christopher Browning, Peter Longerich or Raul Hilberg to explain the current research to which this text recognizes and aspires. In this sense, the objective of the following pages first is to describe and explain some of the historical, psychological and sociological mechanisms that produce perpetrators of serial murders of people as far apart as unknown; as well as decipher their frame of reference. For this a critical review of the historical sources in the light of multiple social disciplines will be done, analyzing his speeches, his arguments, trying to delineate the wills and motivations of Höss, Stangl and Stroop. A key concept of this research is "bureaucracy" in the sense of Max Weber. In second place it will reflect on Nazi violence, in the sense of contradictory autotelic violence with respect to liberal social paradigm and the rule of law. In both cases it will be prioritized to recreate and interpret the point of view of the perpetrators. Looking historiographical amplitude, classics as well as recent publications on the subject will be used. It is not seeking to obtain conclusions or absolute answers but to reflect, rethink and compound the protagonists of perhaps the darkest fact of human histor
This article is part of a series of short monographies devoted to penal reforms in European countries (see vol. VII/2 and VIII/3 of this periodical). The author sets up the chronology of the public debates and bills concerning penal law in post World War II Austria. He describes carefully the political and ideological context of these events. Austria has adopted 1974 a new penal Code, which is the latest great Western codification in this matter.
Significant deviations from Standard Model (SM) predictions have been observed in b→sμ+μ−
decays and in the muon g−2. Scalar leptoquark extensions of the SM are known to be able to address these anomalies, but generically give rise to lepton flavor violation (LFV) or even proton decay. We propose new muon-flavored gauge symmetries as a guiding principle for leptoquark models that preserve the global symmetries of the SM and explain the non-observation of LFV. A minimal model is shown to easily accommodate the anomalies without encountering other experimental constraints. This talk is mainly based on Ref. [1]
New physics in rare
The anomalies in rare B decays endure. We present results of an updated global analysis that takes into account the latest experimental input – in particular the recent results on and BR – and that qualitatively improves the treatment of theory uncertainties. Fit results are presented for the Wilson coefficients of four-fermion contact interactions. We find that muon specific Wilson coefficients or continue to give an excellent description of the data. If only theoretically clean observables are considered, muon specific or improve over the Standard Model by and , respectively. In various new physics scenarios we provide predictions for lepton flavor universality observables and CP asymmetries that can be tested with more data. We update our previous combination of ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb data on BR and BR taking into account the full two-dimensional non-Gaussian experimental likelihoods
SMEFT restrictions on exclusive b → uℓν decays
Exclusive semileptonic b hadron decays (b → uℓν) serve as a sandbox for probing strong and electroweak interactions and for extracting the CKM element V. Instead, this work investigates their underexplored potential to reveal new short-distance physics. Utilizing SMEFT as a conduit to chart territory beyond the SM, we demonstrate that substantive new physics contributions in b → uℓν are necessarily linked to correlated effects in rare neutral-current b decays, neutral B meson mixing or high-mass Drell-Yan tails. We find that measurements of the latter processes strongly restrict the allowed deviations in the former. A complete set of tree-level mediators, originating from a perturbative ultraviolet model and matching at dimension 6, is thoroughly explored to support this assertion. As a showcase application, we examine the feasibility of a new physics interpretation of the recent tension in exclusive |V| extraction from B → Vℓν where V = (ρ, ω).Exclusive semileptonic hadron decays () serve as a sandbox for probing strong and electroweak interactions and for extracting the CKM element . Rare decays meet high-mass Drell-Yan
Rare hadron decays are considered excellent probes of new semileptonic
four-fermion interactions of microscopic origin. However, the same interactions
also correct the high-mass Drell-Yan tails. In this work, we revisit the first
statement in the context of this complementarity and chart the space of
short-distance new physics that could show up in rare decays. We analyze
the latest measurements, where or and or , including the most recent LHCb update, together
with the latest charged and neutral current high-mass Drell-Yan data, and . We implement a sophisticated
interpretation pipeline within the flavio framework, allowing us to investigate
the multidimensional SMEFT parameter space thoroughly and efficiently. To
showcase the new functionalities of flavio, we construct several explicit
models featuring either a or a leptoquark, which can explain the tension
in angular distributions and branching fractions while
predicting lepton flavor universality (LFU) ratios to be SM-like, , as indicated by the recent data. Those models
are then confronted against the global likelihood, including the high-mass
Drell-Yan, either finding tensions or compatibility.Comment: 65 pages, 21 figures, 11 tables. Appendices added including 1D fits, combinations of meson bag parameters, combination of

Into That Darkness – Nostalgia for a Lost World
The subject of the Holocaust is an extremely sensitive issue today. This applies especially to such controversial figures as Franz Stangl. The aim of the article is to show the unusual personality of Franz Stangl through an interpretation of historical facts. The main research material is the book by Gitta Sereny, Into That Darkness: From Mercy Killing to Mass Murder. The method used by the author was a series of interviews, which were given by Stangl at II trial of Treblinka in 1971. The basis for the analysis is a kind of melancholy returns to the past of the camp, by Stangl, which created a sentimental image of the lost world different from what is described in archival materials. Everything he was talking about was in part a product of his imagination, and in part, an attempt to treat these events rationally. He somehow deliberately used means that are specific to a nostalgic coverage of past events, such as colourful metaphors or peculiar descriptions of personal experiences. Stangl manipulated the events in order to justify his own behaviour or escape from the responsibility
