On the limits of engine analysis for cheating detection in chess
The integrity of online games has important economic consequences for both the gaming industry and players of all levels, from professionals to amateurs. Where there is a high likelihood of cheating, there is a loss of trust and players will be reluctant to participate — particularly if this is likely to cost them money.
Chess is a game that has been established online for around 25 years and is played over the Internet commercially. In that environment, where players are not physically present “over the board” (OTB), chess is one of the most easily exploitable games by those who wish to cheat, because of the widespread availability of very strong chess-playing programs. Allegations of cheating even in OTB games have increased significantly in recent years, and even led to recent changes in the laws of the game that potentially impinge upon players’ privacy.
In this work, we examine some of the difficulties inherent in identifying the covert use of chess-playing programs purely from an analysis of the moves of a game. Our approach is to deeply examine a large collection of games where there is confidence that cheating has not taken place, and analyse those that could be easily misclassified.
We conclude that there is a serious risk of finding numerous “false positives” and that, in general, it is unsafe to use just the moves of a single game as prima facie evidence of cheating. We also demonstrate that it is impossible to compute definitive values of the figures currently employed to measure similarity to a chess-engine for a particular game, as values inevitably vary at different depths and, even under identical conditions, when multi-threading evaluation is used

UN Territorial Administrations: Between International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law
The paper deals with the legal phenomenon of international territorial administration, which occurs when an international organization performs governmental functions in a territory. The main examples of international territorial administrations were offered by UNTAES in Eastern Slavonia, UNMIK in Kosovo and UNTAET in East Timor, created by the United Nations Security Council in the late ‘90s, but there are some relevant examples also in the previous practice of the League of Nations, of the United Nations and of the European Union. The author considers the application of the rules of International humanitarian law and of human rights protection in the context of the international territorial administration, evaluating the legal docrtine on this topic and the relevant international practice. At last, the author analyses the strengths and limits of the judicial and non-judicial mechanisms of control over the activities of the international territorial administrations established at international as well as at national level
The discovery of SycO reveals a new function for type three secretion effector chaperones
The Type Three Secretion (T3S) system is a device used by many Gram-negative pathogens that allows bacteria to deliver effector proteins straight into the eukaryotic cell cytosol. These effectors interfere with various signaling pathways to subvert the host cell functions. The secretion machinery of the T3S system consist of a basal body spanning the bacterial inner and outer membrane followed by a stiff hollow needle outside the bacterium. The fully assembled secretion apparatus constitute a continuous hollow conduit that connects the bacteria to the eukaryotic target cell. After cell contact, virulence proteins -called effectors- are injected directly into the cytosol of the host cell via the T3S apparatus. Several effectors of the T3S system require the assistance of specific cytosolic chaperones to be efficiently exported. There are three classes of T3S chaperones. Effector proteins are assisted by Class I chaperones. Although Class I chaperones are well characterized, their main function is still a matter of controversy. In this thesis, we demonstrate that orf155 encodes a specific chaperone for the effector YopO that we called SycO. We showed that SycO enhances YopO secretion in vitro and is required for translocation of YopO into infected cells. By pulldown assay we demonstrated that residues 20 to 77 of YopO are required and sufficient for SycO binding. Using crosslinking experiments and size exclusion chromatography analysis, we determined the stoichiometry of purified SycO and YopO-SycO complexes. SycO alone forms dimers in solution and the YopO-SycO complex has a 1:2 stoichiometry. These results suggested that SycO is a typical chaperone of the Class I. YopO is a serine/theronine kinase that interacts with Rho and Rac and disrupts the cytoskeleton of the target cells. YopO has been shown to localize at the cell plasma-membrane. By transfection of YopO-EGFP hybrid proteins into HEK293T cells, we demonstrated that the chaperone-binding domain (CBD) coincides with the membrane localization domain of YopO. Nevertheless, the CBD was not needed for the kinase activity of YopO. By ultracentrifugation, we also showed that the CBD causes YopO aggregation in the bacteria, when SycO does not cover it. Further, we show that the CBD of YopE and YopT also caused aggregation in the bacteria in the absence of SycE and SycT respectively. YopE, YopT and T3S effectors in other systems also act at the membrane of the eukaryotic host cell. We propose a new hypothesis concerning the role of T3S chaperones. The sub-cellular localization domain of effectors is aggregation-prone and creates the need for a chaperone inside bacteria. We propose that masking such aggregation-prone localization domains may be a general function for type III effector chaperones
Indeks Szeged dan Indeks Padmakar-Ivan pada Graf Nilpoten pada Gelanggang Bilangan Bulat Modulo Orde Prima Berpangkat
Recently, graphs have started to be used to represent a finite ring. Nikmehr and Khojasteh in the article defined the nilpotent graph of a ring . Denoted , is a graph with the set of vertices being all the elements in the ring Two vertices and are adjacent if and only if is nilpotent elements in the ring . Topological index is a field that discusses graph structure based on the degree of each vertex of a graph and the distance between vertices. In this study, the author will gives the general formula of the Szeged index and Padmakar-Ivan index of the nilpotent graph graph of the modulo ring with prime power order. The result of this research is a general formula for the topological indices of nilpotent graphs of the integer modulo ring, called the Szeged index and the Padmakar-Ivan index.
Experimental Determination of R Curves for European Spruce Using DCB Tests
This paper presents an experimental procedure for obtaining the fracture resistance (R curve) of solid wood specimens made of spruce. Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) tests were performed in order to determine energy release rate vs crack length in Mode I wood fracture (crack opening). Ten wood specimens were loaded using the Universal Testing Machine and force-displacement curves were recorded. The most important parameter - crack length was monitored as the crack propagates using Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method. In order to obtain accurate R curve results, procedure which includes calculating cumulative released energy was employed. The cohesive energy Gf was determined based on the R curves. These results can further be analysed in order to obtain cohesive law for Mode I fracture of wood.Steel & Composite Structure
