Authority and Personality in M.M. Bakhtin\u27s Author and Hero in Aesthetic Activity
No full textM.M. Bakhtin\u27s fundamental claim in his seminal essay Author and Hero in Aesthetic Activity situates verbal action as the most essential constituent of human personality. A careful reading of this text reveals important truths about the relationship between free individual personhood and the nature of the speech utterance. Bakhtin connects the human experience of speech to the life and person of Jesus Christ emphasizing the incarnation and the Trinitarian view of God as essential principles for understanding the creative power of the word and consequent liabilities. Bakhtin develops these theological and philosophical coordinates around a discussion of the author-hero relationship in the novel asserting that the verbal utterance is creatively involved in building and sustaining the inner personhood of those it addresses. Bakhtin\u27s critical conclusion substantiates that from whom a word is received, and to whom the spoken word appeals has weighty influence on the type and character of human personality, and that personality\u27s relationship to authority

No full textDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Saúde Coletiva, Florianópolis, 2010Objetivos: Traçar o perfil das mulheres com câncer de colo de útero usuárias do Hospital Agostinho Neto - Cabo Verde. Método: Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico descritivo, baseado na análise de 100 registros de casos notificados de câncer de colo de útero pelo banco estatístico do hospital Agostinho Neto. Utilizou-se o programa Epi Info 9.0 para digitação, análise e criação do banco de dados, através de apresentação de percentagens, e intervalos de confiança (95%). Resultados: Os resultados revelam que 85% (IC 95% 4,7-11,7) das mulheres foram atendidas na secção de ginecologia, logo tiveram um tratamento adequado. A maioria das ocorrências de câncer cervical observou-se nas mulheres de naturalidade da Cidade da Praia (74%); ilha de Santiago (97%); residentes também na Praia (74%). Pacientes compreendida entre 38 a 59 anos de idade com 51% de prevalencia de câncer cervical, casadas (45%), tendo a ocupação de domestica (39%) sem salário remunerado e vivem com um parceiro (67%). O nivel de escolaridade é baixo quando comparada com as analfabetas (22%). Dentre elas de 17-20 anos iniciaram a atividade sexual tardia (50%), o inicio da menarca deu-se entre 14-16 anos, destaca-se pacientes com 1 a 3 filhos (66%). Das 100 mulheres praticamente todas teve presença de HPV menos 3%, também elas não usam preservativo que é o primeiro método de prevenção já que não há vendas de vacinas anti-HPV em Cabo Verde. Conclusão: Ressalta-se a necessidade de estudos mais aprofundados para avaliar a associação entre câncer de colo uterino com outros fatores em Cabo Verde e um estudo que extrapole para a população. O perfil oncologico descreve que são mulheres com um parceiro, não têm o hábito de fazer consultas ginecológicas periodicamente, vivem na Capital (Praia), ilha de Santiago e muitas residem em bairros periféricos com posto de saude sem ginecologista de acompanhamento, analfabetas ou com um grau razoável de escolaridade, domésticas, com bastantes filhos. É importante a questão da sensibilização da população, em saber onde procurar assistência médica e também consultas de ginecologia sempre, pelo menos duas vezes por ano. A educação sexual, ainda é outro factor importante da prevenção do carcinoma cervical, através de uma orientação do uso correcto de preservativos, de modo a desmotivar a promiscuidade sexual e o início precoce da actividade sexual. Há uma necessidade de programas voltados para as mulheres com pouco acesso as informações e incentivo na procura de consultas ginecológicas nem só para as mulheres das zonas rurais como também para as da Cidade da Praia que vivem em bairros periféricos
Gift Young Engineers: An Extra-Curricular Initiative for Updating Computer and Electrical Engineering Courses
No full textThe curricula of engineering courses are well defined by the central government for all Brazilian universities. Indeed, there are some mandatory determinations that must be fulfilled prior to the accreditation of any engineering course in Brazil. Modifications must be submitted for evaluation beforehand, resulting in a process that sometimes takes years to be approved. That is a secure way to guarantee that the fundamentals of each engineering program will be part of the students’ carrier all over the country, and at the same time a problem when you need to introduce new technological subjects. That poses a problem when you have new demands for technological curricular components that could express the actual state of the art of modern subjects. Trying to solve these issues some professors from the Federal University of Amazonas developed a flexible extra-curricular program for electrical and computer engineering courses, named Gift Young Engineers. This paper describes the philosophy of these extra-curricular programs. Some examples of successful particular partnerships are also discussed. Indeed the proposed training programs for Digital TV Systems (hardware and software) will be presented and analyzed in details. The obtained results will also be discussed in order to contribute to similar experiences worldwide

Plant introduction, conservation and enrichment of biodiversity in M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine

Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine (NBG) in scientific, conservation, cultural and educational activities. The results of researches on biodiversity, conservation, plants protection, introduction, acclimatization and selection, allelopathy, medical botany, landscape design, bioindication and hemosystematycs are given. It is noted that over 14 thousands species, forms and varieties of plants, are collected in NBG, and the most unique collections attributed to the objects of national heritage. Breeders have obtained more than 300 certificates or author ship on plant varieties. NBG carries out extensive international cooperation, several new exposition of plant collection appeared in Botanical Garden. In recent years the achievements of NBG scientists were awarded by two State Awards in the field of science and technology of Ukraine
Perception of M.M. Bakhtin in the West: some general remarks
No full textIn the present work is a translation of the short introductory work of Turin’s Professor Roberto Salizzoni dedicated to the analysis of art of M.M. Bakhtin and some reflections of the author of the translation, which led him to assess creativity Russian thinker, present in this book of the Italian scientist. First of all, the author of the translation does not agree with the disparaging assessment of creativity of Bakhtin how unoriginal and more abounding plagiarism. The author of the translation argues injustice exaggerated influence on the concept of Bakhtin from literary trends and ideas, including by the media those of the so-called “circle of Bakhtin”. The necessity of considering of creativity of Russian thinker as philosophical, creativity independent and original. Such a conclusion can fail and approval of Neokantian origin of “philosophical roots” of Bakhtin’s concept of philosophy of culture

No full textMiroculis (Miroculis) tepequensis sp. nov. (Figs. 1–9) Diagnosis: Miroculis (M.) tepequensis sp. nov. can be distinguished from other species in the subgenus by the following combination of characters in the male imago: 1) upper portion of eyes on long stalks with nine facets in the longest row, 2) forewing basal 2 / 3 with membrane brown pigmented and with a few cells translucent; apical 1 / 3 with membrane translucent and brown spots around cross veins, 3) Penes tubular with length equal to segment I of forceps, with apex ending in a internally directed hook and with a membranous dorsal median region. Maximum length: body 6.3–6.5 mm (n= 10, SD= ± 0.10); forewing 4.9–5.3 mm (n= 10, SD= ± 0.25); hind wing 1.5–1.6 mm (n= 10, SD= ± 0.03). Head (Figs. 5–7). Yellowish brown. Antennae: pedicel, scape and flagellum brown translucent. Ocelli: translucent surrounded by black (Fig. 5). Eyes: lower portion black; dorsal portion on long narrow stalk with nine facets in its longest row (Figs. 5–7). Presence of translucent bridge between dorsal portions of the eyes (Fig. 5). Thorax (Figs. 6–9). Pro, meso and metanotum dark brown with median longitudinal suture of mesonotum yellowish (Fig. 6). Pleura and sterna yellowish brown with margins clear (Fig. 8–9). Wings: forewing: longitudinal and cross veins brown; basal 2 / 3 with membrane brown (Fig. 1); apical 1 / 3 with membrane translucent and cross veins surrounded by brown pigmentation (Fig. 1). Hind wing: longitudinal and cross veins brown, membrane brown except for some cells translucent, especially in the middle portion of the wing (Fig. 2). Legs: broken off and missing. Abdomen (Fig. 7). Yellowish brown. Terga IV–VIII with two dark spots in the middle dorsal region; terga IX–X light brown (Fig. 7). Genitalia (Figs. 3–4). Length of styliger plate 0.21 to 0.23 mm (n= 10, SD= 0.01), light brown, posterior margin straight. Forceps: light brown with subapical dark spot. Inner margin of first segment with spines from base to medial portion. Penes: brown, long and tubular with base larger than apex ending in a hook internally directed, median dorsal region membranous; length equal to the first segment of the forceps. Filaments: light brown with dark rings on the base of segments along the entire length (Fig. 7). Female imago and nymph: unknown Material examined: Holotype: male imago, Brazil, State of Roraima, Amajari municipality, Serra Tepequém, second-order stream (03° 87 ' 39.6 "N / 61 ° 44 ' 49.8 "W), 30.v. 2012 to 3.vi. 2012, Gama Neto, J.L. coll. (INPA). Paratype: nine male imagos same data as holotype (7 INPA and 2 CZNC). Etymology: Tepequém is the name of the mountain range where this species was collected. Discussion Miroculis (M.) tepequensis sp.nov. shares similar characteristics with other species of Miroculis (Miroculis): M.(M.) fittkaui Savage & Peters, 1983, M.(M.) nebulosus Savage, 1987, M.(M.) caparaoensis Sales & Lima, 2011 and M.(M.) fazzariensis Costa & Mariano, 2013. In these species, the fore and hind wings have bands or maculae around cross veins and penes not extending beyond forceps. In general, the male imago of M. tepequensis sp. nov. is very similar to that of M. fazzariensis, however, M. tepequensis sp. nov. has the apical 1 / 3 of the forewing translucent with cross veins surrounded by brown pigmentation, while M. fazzariensis has only a few translucent cells in the middle and apical portions of the forewing. Furthermore, the apical region of the penes of M. tepequensis sp. nov. ends in a hook, while in M. fazzariensis this region is long, thin and membranous; and in lateral view, the stalks of the upper region of the eyes of M. tepequensis sp. nov. are longer, twice the length of the stalks in M. fazzariensis. Miroculis tepequensis sp. nov. and M. fittkaui differ in the color patterns of forewings, which are more pigmented in the new species, and in the shape of the penes which apically excavated in M. fittkaui. Miroculis tepequensis sp. nov. differs from M. nebulosus by having the length of the penes similar to that of the first segment of the forceps, whereas in M. nebulosus the length of the penes longer, 1.6 times the length of the first segment of the forceps. Miroculis tepequensis sp. nov. differs from M. caparaoensis mainly by characteristics of the penes, which, in the latter species, is short with a rounded and excavated apex. With the description of M. tepequensis sp. nov. the number of known Miroculis species increases from 16 to 17, and the genus is first recorded from the state of Roraima.
