    THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN DIGITALIZING FALAK SCIENCE IN ISLAMICASTRO APPLICATIONS

    This research starts from academic awareness when realizing Falak keyword in the Play Store. It shows fifteen Falak aplications by programmers without validated Falak competence.This is crucial, because Falak regulates not only astronomical or social relations, but also theological. One of these applications were developed by Falak youth, namely Muhammad Faishol Amin with his Islamicastro. This research discusses digitization of Falak by Islamicastro and youth Falak contributions. This research is qualitative type that based going exploring. Primary and secondary data collection is done by documentation and interviews. The research data is processed in three stages, codification, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Then data were analyzed with descriptive analysis and inductive thingking methods. The conclusion is Islamicastro helps Falak practitioners by his data accuracy in the field. From literatures, algorithm of Islamicastro uses the ephemeris method, the spherical astronomy, and the renewal of vincety method.     Seiring perkembangan teknologi, ilmu falak mengalami masa digitalisasi yang berkembang pesat. Aplikasi –aplikasi android falak mulai banyak bertaburan di Playstore atau Internet. Namun, aplikasi-aplikasi tersebut belum dikaji sisi keabsahan teorinya dan belum ada verifikasi terkait dengan algoritma dan penerapan dalam rukyatul hilal. Fokus kajian penulis terhadap aplikasi islamicastro karya Muhammad Faishol Amin dalam fungsi untuk rukyatul hilal. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis mengangkat dua permasalahan pokok: pertama, Bagaimana algoritma aplikasi Islamicastro dalam menentukan posisi Matahari dan Bulan untuk rukyatul hilal? Kedua, Bagaimana akurasi aplikasi Islamicastro dalam menentukan posisi Matahari dan Bulan untuk rukyatul hilal? Dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan ini penulis menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif evaluatif. Dengan metode tersebut, penulis berupaya mengungkap dan memahami sistem hisab penentuan posisi Bulan dan Matahari dalam aplikasi android Islamicastro karya Muhammad Faishol Amin. Tahap selanjutnya melakukan evaluasi terkait kekurangan dan kelebihan dengan cara membandingkan Islamicastro dengan aplikasi WinHisab dan Stellarium. Aplikasi WinHisab untuk menverifikasi data ephimeris Islmicastro dan aplikasi Stellarium digunakan untuk menverifikasi hasil pengamatan hilal dengan Islamicastro. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu pertama, Penyusunan aplikasi islamicastro diambil dari berbagai algoritma sesuai dengan tahapanya. Tahap pencarian data ephimeris algoritma yang dipakai adalah algoritma Jean Meuss baik untuk data Matahari maupun data Bulan sementara dalam tahap perhitungan tinggi dan azimuth hilal memakai algoritma dari beberapa buku yaitu karangan Slamet Hambali, Ahmad Izzuddin, Muhyiddin Khazin dan Rinto Anugraha. Kedua,Uji akurasi posisi Matahari dan Bulan dalam Islamicastro dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap: 1. Untuk akurasi waktu dalam android berkisar antara 0 sampai dengan 4.407 detik. sementara untuk lokasi berkisar antara 0,85 meter sampai dengan 13 meter. 2. secara umum akurasi data ephimeris yang dihasilkan dalam aplikasi Islamicastro telah bagus yaitu dalam orde detik. Tetapi ada yang harus digaris bawahi yaitu pada nilai akurasi Equation of time di bulan Maret yang mencapai selisih sampai dengan 0 menit 29,29 detik. 3. Akurasi tinggi mar’i baik itu dari tinggi Matahari maupun Bulan memiki nilai yang cukup besar dengan selisih paling besar untuk Bulan yaitu 15 menit 13.99 detik sementara untuk Matahari sebesar 13 menit 33.06 detik

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Uji akurasi penentuan awal waktu salat dalam aplikasi Android Islamicastro karya Muhammad Faishol Amin

    Skripsi ini merupakan jenis penilitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dan penelitian lapangan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Sumber data primer dari penelitian ini adalah aplikasi android Islamicastro dan data-data yang berkaitan dengan perhitungan awal waktu salat. Sedangkan, sumber data sekunder penelitian ini adalah buku-buku, karya ilmiah, dan website yang berkaitan dengan penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menghasilkan dua temuan. Pertama, algoritma penentuan awal waktu utama (fadhilah) salat wajib lima waktu pada aplikasi android Islamicastro menggunakan bantuan ephemeris pada aplikasi android Islamicastro dan juga GPS perangkat android untuk mendapatkan data seperti lintang, bujur, dan tinggi tempat, kemudian data-data tersebut dihitung menggunakan metode Slamet Hambali. Kedua, tingkat akurasi aplikasi android Islamicastro dalam penentuan awal waktu salat sudah cukup akurat berdasarkan hisab pada website Bimbingan Masyarakat (Bimas) Islam Kementerian Agama Republik Indonesia, karena dalam perhitungannya sudah memperhitungkan nilai ketinggian tempat. Hasil hisab pada aplikasi android cenderung lebih cepat sekitar 1-4 menit dibandingkan website Bimas Islam dikarenakan belum ada penambahan ihtiyat pada hasil hisab aplikasi android Islamicastro, sehingga disarankan kepada pengguna aplikasi android tersebut harus menambahkan ihtiyat menggunakan ketentuan Slamet Hambali sesuai metode perhitungan yang digunakannya sebagai langkah pengamanan masuknya waktu salat. Diharapkan adanya pengembangan baru pada aplikasi android Islamicastro agar dapat lebih memudahkan pengguna yang hendak ingin menggunakan aplikasi tersebut dalam menentukan awal waktu salat di berbagai kota dan waktu yang hendak ingin diketahui awal waktu salatnya, serta juga di berbagai kondisi tempat, dan juga penambahan ihtiyat agar hasil hisab awal waktu salat pada aplikasi android Islamicastro tidak terlalu cepat dibandingkan website Bimas milik Kementerian Agama Republik Indonesia

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
