Qur'anic Theology and the Mystical Shruks of Shaikh al-‘Ālam: A Comparative Analysis of Divine Unity and Moral Deviation
Shaikh Nūr al-Dīn Nūrānī (Shaikh al-'Ālam) was one of the most influential spiritual figures in the history of Kashmir, where his Shruks contained profound theological, ethical, and mystical ideas. Although there is considerable research on his life and teachings, studies that systematically compare Shruks with Qur'anic theology—particularly regarding the concepts of tawḥīd, human moral deviance, spiritual responsibility, and tawbah—are still very limited. To fill the gap, this study employs an analytical-descriptive approach and thematic analysis to compare the Shruks of Shaikh al-'Ālam with relevant verses of the Qur'an. The study's results revealed a significant theological harmony between the Qur'anic message and the poetic expression of the Shaikh, particularly in terms of the oneness of God, prophetic guidance, primordial covenants, rejection of polytheism, and the transformative power of tawbah. Moreover, this research shows that the Shruks not only reflect the teachings of the Qur'an but also reinterpret them within the communicative and contextual framework of Kashmiri Sufism. The main contribution of this research lies in: (1) the presentation of a structured Qur'an–Sufi comparative model, (2) the strengthening of the understanding of Kashmiri Sufism as a theological expression firmly rooted in the Qur'an, and (3) the expansion of academic discourse on how local sufistic literature can function as a medium for the effective dissemination of Islamic theology across generations and cultures
Strengthening Family Roles Through Islamic Educational Strategies to Promote Halal Lifestyle Among Muslim Minority Youth in Vietnam
Muslim minority families in Vietnam face limited access to structured Islamic education and halal literacy resources, leading to challenges in strengthening halal lifestyle awareness among adolescents. Responding to this issue, this community engagement program was conducted in August 2025 at Thánh đường Hồi Giáo Dầu Tiếng, Ho Chi Minh City, involving 10 Muslim families. The program employed a participatory family empowerment model, utilizing a combination of online assessments, offline workshops, and hybrid mentoring and evaluation. Vietnamese students from Universitas Wahid Hasyim supported the on-site implementation, while practitioners from Indonesia provided guidance online. Over one month of staggered activities, families participated in halal literacy education, Prophetic parenting training, and the development of a Halal Lifestyle Family Plan (HLFP). The results show increased parental awareness of halal values, improved family communication, and observable behavioral changes among adolescents in consumption habits, digital media use, and Islamic identity confidence. This program demonstrates that a culturally responsive, hybrid, and family-centered Islamic educational strategy can effectively strengthen halal lifestyle practices within Muslim minority contexts
Mentoring and Implementation of Digital Parenting Concepts for Teachers and Parents in Semarang City
The development of digital technology in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 has brought significant changes in early childhood education. However, the low digital literacy of teachers and parents creates a gap in child mentoring. This service activity aims to strengthen collaboration between RA teachers and parents in implementing the concept of healthy and educational Digital Parenting. The method used is Service Learning with the stages of needs analysis, training, and evaluation carried out in a participatory manner. Data was obtained through observation, questionnaires, and participant feedback, and then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results show an increase in digital literacy, the ability to use technology creatively and safely, and the building of collaboration between schools and families in digital parenting. This program has succeeded in encouraging the application of the tricenter principle of education in facing the challenges of early childhood care in the digital era
The Imperative for Productive Waqf at the Great Mosque of Semarang in Promoting Community Economic Development
Productive waqf represents an innovative model for optimizing waqf assets to strengthen social and economic resilience within Muslim communities. Despite its significant potential, the implementation of productive waqf in Indonesia remains limited, particularly in mosque-based institutions that often face challenges in professionalism and governance. This study aims to analyze the management system of the Wakaf Produktif Center (WPC) of the Great Mosque of Semarang, focusing on the implementation of nazhir’s rights and obligations and its impact on community welfare. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, grounded in the good waqf governance framework. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with WPC administrators and shop tenants, field observations, and official document analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, display, and verification. The findings reveal that WPC management aligns with Law No. 41 of 2004 on Waqf, emphasizing professionalism, accountability, and transparency. Productive waqf assets such as shop rentals and culinary centers have generated sustainable income that supports mosque programs and enhances the economic well-being of the surrounding community. The novelty of this research lies in identifying a replicable mosque-based productive waqf governance model adaptable to other regions. Scientifically, this study contributes to the development of a practical good governance model for productive waqf management in Indonesia. Future studies are recommended to examine the long-term effectiveness of the WPC model and employ quantitative approaches to measure its economic impact on beneficiaries
Analysis of Teachers as Role Models in Strengthening the Character of Elementary School Students: Phenomenological Study at SDN Tegal Alur 08 Pagi
This study aims to describe and analyze the profile and process of teachers who act as models in strengthening students’ character, as well as to identify their weaknesses and strengths in performing this role. The research is relevant to current educational issues concerning the importance of character education and the need for teachers to serve as moral exemplars for students. This study employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach conducted at SDN Tegal Alur 08 Pagi, involving six teacher participants selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed using NVivo software. Data validity was ensured through confirmability, credibility, transferability, and dependability. The findings indicate that teachers’ profiles as role models in character education are reflected in habituation programs, active learning, and continuous reflective approaches supported by professional competence and integrity. The process of character strengthening is carried out systematically and sustainably through multifaceted roles and techniques applied both inside and outside the classroom. Challenges experienced by teachers include limited facilities, family environmental influences, and emotional pressure in balancing academic and moral responsibilities. Meanwhile, teachers’ strengths lie in their consistency as role models, close relationships with students, the use of persuasive discipline, creative learning approaches, and the holistic integration of character values supported by the school’s vision and mission. From a phenomenological perspective, the study highlights how teachers interpret their experiences as moral models, viewing character education as a reciprocal process of learning and reflection rather than a one-way teaching effort
The Role of Social-Community Networks in Realizing Inclusive Education in Sekolah Alam
Inclusive education requires the active involvement of all social elements in creating a learning environment that adapts to the needs of all students, including children with special needs (ABK). Sekolah Alam, as an alternative education model based on nature and contextual learning, provides a strategic space for building strong social-community networks. This study aims to analyze the role of social-community networks involving parents, the community, and school administrators in supporting inclusive education practices within the Sekolah Alam environment. The research employed a qualitative method with a multi-case study design, conducted in two locations: Sekolah Alam Indonesia and Sekolah Alam Lampung. Data were collected through observation, unstructured interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs) with school and community stakeholders. The results of this study show a shared understanding among parents, the community, and schools regarding the importance of collaboration in supporting inclusive education in Sekolah Alam. Parental participation is evident in providing facilities, engaging in academic activities, aligning educational visions, and offering financial support. The collaboration patterns in each school reflect contextual approaches based on regional characteristics: Sekolah Alam Indonesia focuses on fostering independence among children with special needs and strengthening moral values, while Sekolah Alam Lampung emphasizes developing children’s talents through an ecology-based approach. These findings enrich academic discourse on the synergy between alternative and inclusive education, while also providing empirical foundations for policymakers to strengthen the role of community networks in promoting an equitable and adaptive education system that meets the diverse needs of all learners
Integrated Islamic Education Curriculum According to Tuan Guru Sekumpul Syekh Muhammad Zaini
The curriculum is very important in education because it has a direct impact on students. In its definition, the curriculum is divided into three parts: subjects, learning experiences, and planning. There are visible and invisible curricula. The invisible curriculum is the educational environment or the ideas of scholars. These ideas arise as an effort to contextualise Islamic teachings in the face of various changes. The Islamic religious education curriculum in terms of material is fixed and stagnant. However, there are differences among scholars regarding the order in which the material should be taught to students. This paper will attempt to describe the curriculum ideas of Tuan Guru Sekumpul Syekh Muhammad Zaini, also known as Guru Sekumpul. The researcher is interested in studying this figure because of his prominence, breadth of knowledge, and influence on the people of Kalimantan, especially South Kalimantan. The main references are sourced from lecture CDs/MP3s delivered by Tuan Guru Zaini during his lifetime and compared with the books he read. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis, Tuan Guru Zaini's ideas about the PAI curriculum were discovered. With a qualitative approach and content analysis, it was found that Tuan Guru Zaini's ideas on PAI (Islamic Education) curriculum emphasize moral education, spirituality, and the integration of Sharia and Sufism, as well as implications for the development of an Islamic education curriculum that is more contextual and spiritually oriente
Bridging Theory and Practice Through Real-World Language Assessment Design
Language assessment is a crucial component of effective language teaching. However, many pre-service teachers lack sufficient training in assessment practices, resulting in a gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This study explores how pre-service teachers perceive the effectiveness of a project-based approach to designing and administering real-world language assessments and examines the challenges they face. Combining a closed questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, the study gathers quantitative and qualitative data from twenty-five pre-service teachers. The findings revealed that hands-on involvement in assessment design enhances teachers' understanding of key assessment principles, increases confidence, and bridges the gap between theory and practice. However, participants also faced challenges, particularly in ensuring the validity and reliability of their assessments. These challenges were manageable with the support provided in the course, indicating the value of structured guidance and expert collaboration in developing assessment literacy. The findings underscore the value of integrating theory with practice in teacher training, providing important insights for language assessment education. Future research could examine larger samples, long-term impacts of such training, and the role of digital tools in developing assessment literacy
Islamic Law Analysis of the Prosecutor's Authority in Asset Forfeiture from Corruption
Efforts to recover assets resulting from corruption remain hindered by legal loopholes and concealment strategies, especially when offenders register illicit assets under the names of third parties. This study explores how prosecutors perceive the legitimacy of such assets and their views on the necessity of reforming Indonesia’s asset forfeiture framework. Using a qualitative empirical design, the research is based on semi-structured interviews with four prosecutors who have handled corruption cases involving complex asset ownership. The findings reveal that prosecutors consistently view these assets as materially and morally illegitimate, even if formally registered under others' names. They also support introducing a non-conviction-based asset forfeiture (NCBAF) model to overcome the limitations of conviction-dependent mechanisms, especially in cases where suspects die or flee. Islamic legal principles, such as the ḥifẓ al-māl (preservation of wealth) and taʿzīr bi al-māl or discretionary penalties targeting unlawfully acquired assets, offer a moral and doctrinal basis for such reforms. These insights contribute to ongoing legal debates and support the development of a more effective and ethically grounded policy for asset recovery in corruption cases
REVISITING HADITH INTERPRETATION THROUGH GEOGRAPHY: EXTENDING MICHAEL A. COOK’S EXTERNAL CRITERIA THEORY
A hadith cannot always be understood solely throught its textual, it often requires a specific approach to uncover its proper contextual interpretation. The geographical approach is one such contextual method that helps reveal the true meaning of a hadith. This study adopts the theory of external criteria, as one of the essential aspects to examine in hadith research is the location where the hadith was conveyed. The purpose of this research is to explore the necessity of the geographical approach as an external criterion in understanding hadiths and to present examples of its application in several hadiths. This research employes a qualitative descriptive method with a library research design and a hadith studies approach. The finding reveals that, first, the geographical approach as an external criterion is crucial for comprehending the Prophet's hadiths. Second, examples include: 1) hadiths on the dynamic direction of the Qibla according to a Muslim’s location; 2) hadiths on toilet etiquette related to facing or turning away from the Qibla depending on the setting; 3) hadiths on garments such as white robes that adapt to local culture and climate
