Miji raids and Hoyshina
Short description: Since times immemorial, the Sartang, Tshangla, Khispi and Duhumbi villages in the Gongri river valley were subjected to yearly raids by the Miji people living to the northeast. The Miji are called bistang [bistaŋ] in Duhumbi and bishtang [biɕtaŋ] in Khispi: this word is nowadays used to refer to people belonging to any non-Buddhist, non-plains tribe. The Miji claimed a right to these yearly raids on basis of the fact that the land on which the ‘Monpa’ people lived belonged to them, and the annual ‘tax’ was a ‘compensation’ for the Monpa’s use of the land. The annual Miji raids left a deep imprint on the psyche of the people of the Gongri valley. Basically, they had to work extremely hard on their agricultural land all year, knowing that most of their harvest would be taken by the Tibetan administration and by the Miji raiders, leaving them with no option but to revert to the forest to survive. Living conditions were extremely bad, as is also reported by the first British visitors to the area, who spoke of the Sartang villages as extremely poor and on the verge of collapse, and of the Dirang area as very fertile but unable to develop socio-economically due to the taxation and raids. In addition, whereas the Tibetan taxation was a somewhat orderly and peaceful process, the Miji raids caused widespread havoc and panic because of their unpredictability as regard to both timing and viciousness. It seems, there was a real fear for the Miji, which continues to present: most people of the Gongri river valley do not get along with Mijis, they have an in-born fear and mistrust of them. The fact that politics, hydropower, marijuana and other easy avenues to money have not really changed the attitude of some Mijis does not help to displace this mistrust. Mijis, however, also have their fixed set of prejudices and mistrust of the Dirang. The Sartang, Khispi and Chugpa were, and to a large extent still are, the small tribes caught in the middle.

Tithe (Zakat/Zakah) is the Islam Law brought by the Messenger. At present that is increasingly growing, tithe also experience the development in this case is the tithe of the footwear business result. Theories that talk about the tithe of footwear business result are still a little, so there are many people who do not yet know how footwear business result is paid tithe. In this study, there are problems, namely: 1) how do the majors of shoe in Miji Village of Kranggan Subdistrict of Mojokerto understand about the tithe of footwear business results? 2) how is the tithe implementation of the footwear business result by the majors of shoe in Miji Village of Kranggan Subdistrict of Mojokerto?
This research included in the empirical research, which was conducted based on data in the field as primary source. The approach type used i.e. qualitative approach which means that data came from interviews in the field. The primary data source is the majors of footwear that is in Miji Village of Kranggan subdistrict of Mojokerto, while the secondary data source is books or notes that still related to tithe. For the analysis is descriptive analysis.
The result of this study shows that in this study there are four different understanding, namely: first, the understanding of nishab; second, the understanding of haul; third, the understanding of the tithe amount; and fourth, the understanding of tithe mustahik. In the implementation, there are two kinds. First, the majors of footwear who pay tithe sincerely and possibly in Miji Village considered that something that they spend on each time the sale includes tithe. Second, the majors who pay tithe by estimated on trade tithe i.e. the majors who consider that tithe is issued each year in the Ramadan month at the closing book time, they paid tithe out by amount of 2.5%. The majors in paying tithe out is given to their own labors, widows who could not afford, orphans, poor people, BAZNAS, and brothers/sisters underprivileged
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction in soluble lead flow batteries
Kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) on PbO2 deposited glassy carbon disk electrode (GCD) in methane sulfonic acid (MSA) is analyzed with cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), for soluble lead flow battery (SLFB) applications. The effect of concentration of active species (Pb2+), and the electrolyte (MSA) on the OER at the deposited PbO2 layer is investigated. The apparent activation energy of the OER on PbO2, deposited at various overpotential, is obtained from the Arrhenius and Eyring analysis. The apparent activation energy follows a special trend that it increases with overpotential, reaches a maximum and decreases thereafter. This is consistent with the PbO2 specifically deposited from low concentration of MSA (<1M), where the gel layer composed of hydrated PbO(OH)2 is also found. It is observed that low MSA concentration is preferred for limiting the OER at the positive electrode
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
