Creative Content of Shariah-Compliant Short Film in The Digital Media Evolution
There are advancements in creative work, particularly for short films in the media domain now. The production of short films undergoes digitalisation transformation that promotes the evolution of brand-new media technologies. Nevertheless, the creation of shariah-compliant short film content creates a debate and becomes a polemic among the country’s content creator. Nonetheless, shariah-compliant short films grab digital media audiences’ attention, such as MTAS Production, Mr Kokom and Syahmi Sazli Production. The discussion related the writing of shariah-compliant creative content scripts from the aesthetic aspect of Takmilah Theory. Thus, this paper aimed to identify shariah-compliant elements as the basis for content formation for short films. Thematic analysis of shariah-compliant elements worked as a primary reference for short filmmakers to plan and organise the content that could meet the needs of the audience. Looking at the marketability of shariah-compliant works through the evolution of digital media, it indicates that the creative community and industry in Malaysia accepts this reform

Phenomenological Study of Shariah-Compliant Films as Da’wah Medium
The discussion of Shariah compliance in film provides the opportunity for the delivery of the message of da’wah (Islamic evangelism) through filmart. Nevertheless, the term sharia compliance in the film field is a newly discussed matter compared to sharia compliance in the banking system. Therefore, this study aims to analyze film audience’s perception towards the concept of sharia compliance. This study also examined the role of sharia compliance film as the medium of da’wah. It employed the phenomenology design that involved sampling with the aims to obtain study respondents. The 10 samples were UKM undergraduate and postgraduate Muslim students who like watching Malay films. The data were collected via focussed group discussion. This study employed constant comparative analysis in comparing data that convey meaning in answering the questions and objectives of the study. The findings showed that from the audience’s perception regarding sharia compliance, there were two categories of audience, which are negotiated reading and oppositional reading in interpreting meaning. The findings stated the respondents’ perception regarding the concept of sharia compliance that was discussed - ‘’Actions in film, socializing limit...the acting should preserve them but not too stiff...for example the scene where husband and wife sleeping together on a bed should be avoided. Frankly, the absent of such scene does not flaw the film.’’ The findings also found that the respondents agreed with the role of sharia compliance film as the medium of da’wah. It is hoped that this study contributes clarity to filmmakers regarding the concept of sharia compliance that could take center stage in da’wah film in Malaysi
Muslim Consumers Behaviour Through ‘Buy Muslim First (BMF) Vs. ‘Buy Halal First’ (BHF) Campaign in Malaysia
The advertisement of products and services whether locally or globally attract consumers and persuade their buying decisions. Muslim consumers in Malaysia make half of the buying power that contributes to the nation’s economy. The buying decision of Muslim consumers shows the highest rating for products that have received halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). In 2018, a ‘Buy Muslim First’ campaign was launched; however, it was misinterpreted as an agenda to boycott the non-Muslim products. The actual purpose of the campaign is to foster the sustainability of entry-level Muslim products in the small-scale industries. Meanwhile the ‘Buy Halal First’ campaign has long been enforced in Malaysia, which allows products manufactured, including by the non-Muslims, to obtain the halal logo. In an Islamic nation such as Malaysia, the halal logo is issued by authoritative institutions that are appointed by the Government such as JAKIM. These authoritative institutions are responsible to ensure that Muslim consumers have options of products which are compliant to the requirements of Islamic rulings even though the products are made by non-Muslim manufacturers. Hence, this article discusses the Muslim consumers’ needs based on the BMF and BHF marketing campaigns
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
