Inés de la Cruz, I decided to center my thesis on the revolution that sor Juana (San Miguel
Nepantla 1648?- Mexico City 1695) started in the debate about singularity, sexedness,
and in-betweenness—not only in the field of literary studies and literary criticism, but
also in the broad landscape of feminist and gender studies. By defining herself neither as
a woman, nor as a stable subject belonging to a fixed homogeneous group or genre, sor
Juana opens an interesting debate about difference and non-binarism.
As the several examples I analyze in this dissertation suggest, sor Juana
problematizes the age-old question of identity from within. This causes not only a
disintegration of the structure of identity and of the process of identification, but also a
breakup of the very structuralist ground upon which they stand. Presenting a subject that
is semiotic, unplaceable, and untranslatable, and that functions along with a sex that is,
in its turn, singular, excessive, and also untranslatable, entails a profound reshaping of
identity politics beyond the sphere of the metaphysic of presence. In my understanding,
sor Juana interestingly configures a non-binary and fluid position for her subjectivity that
even today can enter into a powerful dialogue with contemporary feminist theory.
To put in evidence the dynamism of this subject I insisted in the first chapter on
the fluidity of the subject; in the second chapter on the resistance that this subject operates
against its sexual categorization as a woman; in the third chapter on the proximity
between life and death and the continuous movement from a status to the other embodied
by the allegory of the Phoenix; and in the fourth chapter on the “in betweenness” and the
restlessness of sor Juana’s corpus that is impossible to be placed into a single canon once
and for all.
In sor Juana’s corpus identities are endless and impossible to grasp in their
ultimate meaning. They remain forever impossible to place, neither fully present nor fully
absent. They exist in a dangerous balance between (nepantla) life and death, dancing and
moving, following the chaotic geometry of points, folding the ordinate symmetry of lines,
and subverting the hegemonic order of the patriarchal and colonial world

No full textTese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em História, Florianópolis, 2015.Este esboço de biografia procura citar algumas imagens de Otto Maria Carpeaux: construções biográficas de naturezas múltiplas, elaboradas em contextos, por atores e sob condições igualmente díspares. Está constituído a partir de uma visão crítica da História, o que permite que ?outras imagens?, fragmentárias e não monumentais, também tenham espaço. Em diálogo com o princípio da montagem, este esboço apresenta-se em duas partes. Na primeira, Imagens possíveis, estão citadas as imagens elaboradas em vida e post mortem acerca do austríaco-brasileiro que nasceu em Viena em 1900, se exilou no Brasil em 1939 e morreu no Rio de Janeiro, em 1978. Na segunda, Montagens possíveis, apresentam-se duas possibilidades de exercício biográfico: pela leitura alegórica do documentário O velho e o Novo (Otto Maria Carpeaux), entendido como instrumento de intervenção no contexto ditatorial brasileiro e de uma reelaboração biográfica concernentes às suas experiências europeias; e pelo Caderno de imagens críticas, registro dos encontros em Carpeaux pelo meio de imagens críticas produzidas a partir da cesura do presente.Abstract : This biographical sketch attempts to quote some images of Otto Maria Carpeaux: various types of biographical constructions, carried out in different contexts by disparate authors under conditions just as distinct. It stems from a critical view of history, allowing for ?other images? fragmented and non-monumental ? to share the space.In dialogue with the montage principle, this sketch has two parts. The first, Possible Images, quotes the images produced during and after the life of the Austrian-Brazilian, who was born in Vienna in 1900, went to Brazil in exile in 1939 and died in Rio de Janeiro in 1978. The second part, Possible Montages, presents two possibilities of a biographical exercise: through the allegorical reading of documentary O Velho e o Novo (Otto Maria Carpeaux), understood as an instrument of intervention in the Brazilian dictatorship context and as a biographical retelling of the author?s European experiences; and through my Scrapbook of Critical Images, a record of the encounters in Carpeaux through critical images produced from the caesura of the present

No full textThe discussion on the characteristics of menstrual blood is a prominent topic in the
gynaecological work by Rodrigo de Castro. In this paper, we aim to analyze the arguments
set forth by the author and examine the key points of the reflection on menstruum signalling
the construction of his opinion. Castro proves to be an attentive and critical reader of the
tradition, summarizing the conventional views on the subject and providing a conceptual
framework according to which menstrual blood is positively considered.A discussão sobre as características do sangue menstrual é um tópico de relevo

No full textDespite advances concerning domestic and family violence against women, especially after the enactment of Law 11340/2006, Maria da Penha Law in Brazil, there is a long way to be traced by the government for mitigation of problems related to this topic. This paper used the literature of scientific review articles in order to create a consistent theoretical framework for understanding and, uses the observation of a Criminal Analysis Report, issued by the Coordination of Analysis and Strategic Planningin Paraná state of Brazil, which was to data source the police report Unified, we obtained information that has worked from the descriptive and inferential statistics, enabling demonstrate some features of the author of the protective measure of breach crime.Apesar dos avanços concernentes à violência doméstica e familiar contra a mulher, sobretudo após a promulgação da Lei 11340/2006, Lei Maria da Penha, observa-se um longo caminho a ser traçado pelo poder público para amenização dos problemas relativos ao tema. Este trabalho utilizou-se da revisão bibliográfica de artigos científicos, a fim de criar um referencial teórico consistente para o seu entendimento e, com a observação de um Relatório de Análise Criminal, emitido pela Coordenadoria de Análise e Planejamento Estratégico do Paraná, que teve como fonte de dados o Boletim de Ocorrência Unificado (BOU), obtiveram-se informações que foram trabalhadas a partir da estatística descritiva e inferencial, possibilitando comprovar algumas características do autor do crime de descumprimento de medida protetiva
A Morphological Analysis of Pigmented Skin Lesions through Digital Image Processing
No full textMelanoma is the most malignant type of skin cancer due to its ability to metastasize. Since early detection is the best way to prevent it, many detection techniques have been developed, such as the ABCD rule, the Menzies method and the 7-point checklist. Digital image processing is nowadays a powerful and useful tool for the analysis of biomedical images, resulting in great help in the diagnosis of many diseases. Consequently, by using this tool it is possible to develop software capable of automatically recognizing different patterns of pigmented skin lesions. In this paper we propose an algorithm based on the morphological analysis of an image of a pigmented skin lesion in order to characterize and quantify its malignity according to the ABCD rule developed by Stolz in 1994. The proposed method includes image enhancement techniques, the segmentation of the injured area together with morphological algorithms to obtain the ABCD characteristics, and the calculation of the Total Dermoscopy Score (TDS), which will let us classify the lesion as benign, suspicious or malign. The results obtained show that the proposed algorithm is reliable and could help the medical professional in the diagnosis of melanoma.Fil: Paz, Rodrigo Rafael. Family altruism and incentives
No full textThe author builds on the altruistic model of the family, to explore the strategic interaction between altruistic parents, and selfish children, when children's efforts are endogenous. If there is uncertainty about the amount of income the children will realize, and if parents have imperfect information, the children have an incentive to exert little effort, and to rely on their parent's altruistically motivated transfers. Because of this, parents face a tradeoff between the insurance that bequests implicitly provide their children, and the disincentive to work prompted by their altruism. The author shows that if parents can credibly commit to a pattern of transfers, they will choose not to compensate children in bad outcomes, as much as predicted by the standard (no uncertainty, no asymmetric information) dynastic model of the family. Alternatively, parents may choose to forgo any insurance, and offer a fixed level of bequest, to elicit greater effort from their children. The optimal transfers structure that the author derives, reconciles the predictions of the altruistic family model, with much of the existing evidence on inter-generational transfers, which suggests that parents compensate only partially, or not at all, for earnings differentials among their children. No full textA família é a instituição basilar da sociedade, contudo, sua conceituação vem
se alterando drasticamente nos recentes anos, principalmente após os movimentos
contra-culturais iniciados em meados da década de 60 e do desgaste da ideologia
patriarcal e da modernidade, assim como o enfraquecimento da influencia religiosa
na sociedade brasileira. Tal mutação, que engloba ampliação e modificações
socioculturais, geram efeitos em diversas áreas das humanidades que refletem,
como não poderia deixar de ser, no Direito. O conceito da família, no âmbito legal e
legislativo é indicativo pautável para refletir as demandas sociais. Dessa forma o
presente trabalho faz uma progressão histórica da origem do Estado Moderno e
Democrático de Direito, para, em seguida, debruçar sobre a conceituação
contemporânea da família na ótica dos doutrinadores pátrios, os princípios
protegidos no nosso ordenamento e diante desse patamar, será proposta uma

has been changing drastically in recent years, especially after the anti-cultural
movements initiated in the mid-1960s and the erosion of patriarchal ideology and
modernity, as well as the weakening of religious influence in Brazilian society. This
mutation, which includes enlargement and socio-cultural changes, has effects in
several areas of the humanities that reflect, as it could not be, the Law. The concept
of family, in the legal and legislative spheres, is indicative and can be used to reflect
social demands. In this way, the present work makes a historical progression of the
origin of the Modern and Democratic State of Law, in order to examine the
contemporary conceptualization of the family from the point of view of the country's
legal scholars, the principles protected in our legal system and then, a legal definition
