Estudo estrutural e térmico da liga y-Cu38,5Cd61,5 fabricada por mechanical alloying /
No full textDissertação (Mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Ciências Físicas e Matemáticas.Neste trabalho, mostramos a formação da liga g-Cu38,5Cd61,5 pela técnica Mechanical Alloying. Para acompanhar a formação da liga fizemos difração de raios-x de amostras com diferentes tempos de moagem. Os resultados indicaram um início da formação da liga em 15 minutos da moagem que é completada com 240 minutos de moagem. Também foi realizado tratamento térmico da liga como moída em várias temperaturas. Um estudo da evolução do tamanho médio dos cristalitos em função da temperatura, permitiu estabelecer uma curva para a estabilidade térmica desta liga e outra para razão entre as componentes interfacial e cristalina, permitindo mostrar a faixa otimizada para aplicações tecnológicas desta liga na forma nanoestruturada. Para temperaturas maiores que 423 K, os padrões de difração de raios-x mostram linhas do cádmio puro, indicando que ocorreu a segregação deste elemento. Assim, a liga g-Cu38,5Cd61,5 apresentou uma composição em torno daquela do composto Cu5Cd8
Memory cost of temporal correlations
No full textA possible notion of nonclassicality for single systems can be defined on the basis of the notion of memory cost of classically simulating probabilities observed in a temporal sequence of measurements. We further explore this idea in a theory-independent framework, namely, from the perspective of general probability theories (GPTs), which includes classical and quantum theory as special examples. Under the assumption that each system has a finite memory capacity, identified with the maximal number of states perfectly distinguishable with a single measurement, we investigate what are the temporal correlations achievable with different theories, namely, classical, quantum, and GPTs beyond quantum mechanics. Already for the simplest nontrivial scenario, we derive inequalities able to distinguish temporal correlations where the underlying system is classical, quantum, or more general

Modeling The Elastic Differential Cross-section At Lhc
No full textAn empirical model for the pp elastic differential cross section is proposed. Inspired by early work by Barger and Phillips, we parametrize the scattering amplitude in building blocks, comprising of two exponentials with a relative phase, supplementing the dominant term at small -t with the proton form factor. On A Model-independent Representation For The Real Part Of The Elastic Hadron Amplitude
No full textThe applicability of Martin's Real Part Formula in model-independent analysis of elastic proton-proton scattering is discussed. Good reproduction of all the differential cross section data at high-energies (19.4-62.5 GeV) is obtained through an empirical parametrization for the imaginary part of the amplitude and the use of a representation for the Martin's formula without the scaling property. According to the fit results, the scattering amplitude is predominantly imaginary, except at the dip region. One zero (change of sign) is observed in the imaginary part of the amplitude (dip region) and two zeros in the real part (at small and intermediate values of the momentum transfer). © 2010 American Institute of Physics.1296282285Fiore, R., (2009) Int.
