    The growth of manufacturing industries has caused the competition among companies becomes tighter. Therefore, companies need to make an effort to survive. One of the things that must be considered is the quality of products produced by the company. This research is conducted to design a refinement or quality improvement for GRC roster products in UD. XYZ Malang. The quality improvement is done with Taguchi method experimental design in order to get optimal combination for the materials. As for the orthogonal array notation used is L9(34) with gypsum (A), sand (B), cement (C), and water (D) as the controlling factors. The data processing is carried out using ANOVA towards the average value and SNR with larger the better classification. The ANOVA calculation is done in order to find out the significantly influential factors in product durability. The test done to find out the product durability is a pressure test. According to the result of data processing, the ratio of optimal mixture composition gypsum:sand: cement: wateris 2:2:2:1 (A3, B2, C3, dan D2). A confirmation experiment is conducted to the optimal composition. The analysis of the material cost for each experiment is done to justify the effectiveness of the optimal designed product chosen. Based on the pressure durability and cost calculation, the mean of result is 13,256 kg/cm2 for the pressure durability which indicates the quality is better than the exsisting product and able to save costs of Rp 1.630,927 in order to produce one GRC Roster

    PT Fajar Indah is an automotive company which is one of their flagship products is muffler for Colt Diesel FE 120 PS. During 2012 and 2013, PT Fajar Indah was able to produced muffler up to 2400 unit with 6-7% defects rate. There are five type of defects that affects muffler’s quality which are lid’s defects, ring’s defects, defects of resonator’s size, defects of plate’s cutting size, and defects of broken plate. To determine whether improvements are needed in muffler’s prodution process and how they will be conducted so six sigma will be used for analysis. Analysis was conducted using DMAIC process, where recommended action for quality improvement were determined with RCA and FMEA. Result from analysis shows that PT Fajar Indah had 12,879 DPMO value and 3.73 sigma which mean that improvement is needed in muffler’s production process. Some recommended actions that can be done are maintenance scheduling, making work instruction and supervise it, improving storage method for ring’s model, provide place for plate scraps from cutting process, adding more workesr for products inspection, and looking for suppliers who are able to provide plate with standard quality

    Peningkatan Kapasitas Produksi Kerupuk Samiler Melalui Penerapan Mesin Pemarut Singkong pada IKM Keripik di Kecamatan Ngantang Kabupaten Malang

    Salah satu produk dari IKM Keripik Rindy yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Ngantang Kabupaten Malang adalah kerupuk samiler, sejenis kerupuk yang terbuat dari singkong. Produk kerupuk samiler tersebut menghadapi permintaan yang paling tinggi dibandingkan dengan produk-produk lain seperti keripik pisang dan talas yang diproduksi oleh IKM tersebut. Salah satu masalah dari rangkaian proses produksi kerupuk samiler adalah proses pemarutan singkong. Pemarutan singkong sebelumnya dilakukan menggunakan mesin pemarut kelapa yang membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama untuk memarut singkong, memiliki suara yang bising dan hasil parutan yang mengotori ruangan. Oleh karena itu pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk melakukan rancang bangun mesin pemarut singkong yang dapat meningkatkan kapasitas produksi kerupuk samiler. Metode kegiatan pengabdian terdiri dari proses rancang bangun mesin pemarut singkong, pelatihan pengoperasian dan perawatan mesin dan penambahan peralatan proses lainnya untuk meningkatkan kapasitas produksi kerupuk samiler. Perancangan mesin pemarut singkong didasarkan pada kebutuhan dari produk terutama mempertimbangkan higienitas karena yang diproduksi adalah produk makanan. Pembuatan mesin diserahkan pada pihak ketiga. Mesin yang dihasilkan terbuat dari stainless steel yang sesuai untuk produk makanan, kecepatan empat kali lipat dari mesin parut yang digunakan sebelumnya dan memiliki suara yang tidak berisik serta dilengkapi pengaman pada mulut mesin. Pelatihan pengoperasian dan perawatan mesin dilakukan pada karyawan mitra dan kemudian dilakukan pendampingan agar penggunaan dan perawatan mesin dapat dilakukan dengan lancar dan aman. Peningkatan kapasitas pemarutan diimbangi dengan penambahan peralatan proses produksi kerupuk samiler lainnya. Namun keterbatasan ruang produksi hanya memungkinkan peningkatan kapasitas produksi kerupuk samiler dua kali lipat dari sebelumnya

    Although considered as one of the main drivers of the national economy, SMEs are very vulnerable to business competition. Limited access to resources including knowledge resources makes SMEs constrained to develop their support system. One of the obstacles faced by SMEs today is their limited grasp to the business financial management concept. They also have a difficulty in accessing a simple financial accounting application that fit to their business conditions. The community service program implemented by the Ma Chung Abdimas Grant Team aims to improve the financial literacy of SME members of Forum Komunikasi Pelaku Usaha in Kabupaten Malang, as well as their access to computer-based financial accounting application. This program is implemented in the form of training and mentoring to improve SME’s understanding and skills in financial management. The results concluded that the training program was effective. It is able to improve financial management literacy for IKM partners
