Abstract : Qualitative research with socio-historical approach, in order to historicize the role of nurses in the organization and deployment of Unit Bone Marrow Transplant process of Santa Catarina, in the period 1997-2009. The method of thematic oral history was used. Oral sources of the study were nine subjects, five nurses , a doctor, an administrative assistant manager, an occupational therapist, a social worker (semistructured interviews) and documentary sources (reports, regulations, minutes, projects, laws, ordinances, photos, and others). Data were analyzed using the method of content analysis according to Bardin based on the theoretical framework of memory. The study was submitted to and approved by Brazil Platform Ethics Committee on Human Research of the Federal University of Santa Catarina under protocol no. 242.942/2013 and by the Ethics Committee on Human Research at the Center for Oncology Research - CEPON under protocol no. 272.343/2013 and guided by CNS Resolution 466/2012 (published on 06.13.2013), which regulates the Guidelines and Standards for Research Involving Humans. Baake M, Baake E, Eich E. On the role of invariants for the parameter estimation problem in Hamiltonian systems. Physics letters. 1993;180(1-2):74-82.The parameter estimation problem is discussed for differential equations that describe a Hamiltonian system. Since the conserved total energy is an invariant which contains all parameters of the system, we can achieve parameter estimation without any numerical integration. This is demonstrated for data in the chaotic region of the Hénon-Heiles system and of the planar double pendulum. We show that the method works well for ideal as well as noisy data. In this context, an appropriate method for the generation of reliable time series in the presence of an invariant is discussed. Finally, it is shown that our method also provides a simple approach to global fitting in discrete dynamical systems with invariants

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Correlation of the tokamak H-mode density limit with ballooning stability at the separatrix

We show for JET and ASDEX Upgrade, based on Thomson-scattering measurements, a clear correlation of the density limit of the tokamak H-mode high-confinement regime with the approach to the ideal ballooning instability threshold at the periphery of the plasma. It is shown that the MHD ballooning parameter at the separatrix position alpha(sep) increases about linearly with the separatrix density normalized to Greenwald density, n(e,sep)/n(GW) for a wide range of discharge parameters in both devices. The observed operational space is found to reach at maximum n(e,sep)/n(GW) approximate to 0.4-0.5 at values for alpha(sep) approximate to 2-2.5, in the range of theoretical predictions for ballooning instability. This work supports the hypothesis that the H-mode density limit may be set by ballooning stability at the separatrix

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    No full text
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

The power dependence of the maximum achievable H-mode and (disruptive) L-mode separatrix density in ASDEX Upgrade

    No full text
In future fusion reactors disruptions must be avoided at all costs. Disruptions due to the density limit (DL) are typically described by the power-independent Greenwald scaling. Recently, a power dependence of the disruptive DL was predicted by several authors (Zanca et al 2019 Nucl. Fusion 59 126011; Giacomin et al 2022 Phys. Rev. Lett. 128 185003; Singh and Diamond 2022 Plasma Phys. Control. Fusion 64 084004; Stroth et al 2022 Nucl. Fusion 62 076008; Brown and Goldston 2021 Nucl. Mater. Energy 27 101002). It is investigated whether this increases the operational range of the tokamak. Increasing the heating power in the L-mode can induce an L-H transition, and therefore a power-dependent DL and the L-H transition cannot be considered independently. The different models are tested on a data base for separatrix parameters at the separatrix of ASDEX Upgrade and compared with the concept (SepOS) presented in Eich and Manz (2021 Nucl. Fusion 61 086017). The disruptive separatrix density scales with the power ne ∝ P0.38±0.08 in good agreement to all models. Also the back transition from high to low (H-L) confinement shows an approximately Greenwald scaling with an additional power dependence ne ∝ P0.4 according to the SepOS concept. For future devices operating at much higher heating power such a power scaling may allow operation at much higher separatrix densities than are common in H-mode operation. Preconditions to extrapolation for future devices are discussed
