All has received a special attention among Turks since he became a Muslim. Not only among the Alevi Turks, but also among the Sunni Turks, his tales of heroism are read, young people emulated and imitated him. The Cenkname tales which tell about All's heroism have played an important role in the settlement and internalization of the love and admiration to All among Turks. The Castle of Blood is also among the dozens of tales that tell about All's heroism. The author of this tale is not certain and it is told from generation to generation. The Castle of Blood narrates about the events that Ali experiences during his journey where he went for finding a present for a kid who will be circumcised. Cevahirzade Mustafa Hilmi Efendi is one of those who has versificated this tale. In this article, Turkish society's perception of All based on Cevahirzade's text is emphasized and the text is tried to be analyzed. When we review the Castle of Blood tale, we see Turkish society's perception of Ali. All has been an ideal character with his bravery, generosity, protection of the weak, overmastering the cruel and his loyalty to his wife. He has acted as a morale figure and directed listeners to be better with these features. The Castle of Blood tale is also a good example of traditional Turkish storytelling. It has several typical characteristics of tales like the war between good and bad, addressing to the listeners, telling stories in the tale and existence of spiritual beings. In this study, these characteristics will be tried to be presented with relevant examples

Ali’ye dayanan ve Muhammed Hanefiyye’nin (ö.81) yakın adamlarından sayılan Reyli Cevanmerd-i Gassab kabul edilmiştir. Farsça olarak kaleme alınan fütüvvetnameden ilki ‘’Fütüvvetname-i Gassab’’ adıyla İran Meclis Kütüphanesi 8898 numaralı el yazma mecmuada bulunmaktadır. Molla Muhammed Bagir Meclisi’ye (ö.1699) ait olduğu ve Safeviler döneminde yazıldığı ifade edilmiştir. Diğer risale Ravzatü’ş Şüheda adlı meşhur eserin sahibi olan Molla Hüseyin Vaiz Kaşifi Sebzevari’ye (ö.1504) ait olup ‘’Fütüvvetname-i Sultani’’ adlı eserdeki‘’ Fasl der Beyan-i Gabze-i Kard, Satur, Kardmal ve Tir ‘’başlıklı bölümde yer alır. Hz.İbrahim’in oğlu İsmail’i kurban ediş sırrı üzerinde durulmuş, mesleğin pirleri tanıtılmış, mesleğe ait ayet ve hadisler zikredilmiştir. Among the Persian futuwwatnāmes, which started with the Ṣafavid period and are described as Persian Cevânmerd, there are also epistles belonging to butchers. Ebû Mansûr el-Mâtürîdî’den Nûreddin es-Sâbûnî’ye Peygamberlik Anlayışı

The issue of prophethood is one of the fundamental principles of Islamic belief. Explaining the necessity of the institution of prophethood and responding to the criticisms directed at it are of great importance for establishing the doctrine of prophethood on a solid foundation. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the views on prophethood of Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī (d. 333/944), the founder of the Māturīdī school of theology, and one of the prominent theologians of this school, Nūr al-Dīn al-Sābūnī (d. 580/1184). al-Māturīdī, who lived in 4th/10th-century Samarkand, explained, defended, and systematized the tenets of faith accepted in the Ḥanafī tradition since Abū Ḥanīfa using the theological method. In this way, the theological approach within the Abū Ḥanīfa line evolved into a formal theological school through Māturīdī’s contributions. al-Sābūnī, who lived in 6th/12th-century Bukhara, contributed significantly to the dissemination and recognition of al-Māturīdī’s views through his written works. This research examines the approximately 250-year period from al-Māturīdī to al-Sābūnī with a particular focus on the issue of prophethood. The findings indicate that al-Māturīdī thoroughly addressed the topic of prophethood in his works, employing both rational and textual (naqlī) evidence to explain its necessity and developing original interpretations on the subject. al-Sābūnī, in general, adopted al-Māturīdī’s views on prophethood and defended them in his writings. However, al-Sābūnī diverged from al-Māturīdī in his understanding of infallibility (ʿisma), accepting that some prophets might have committed “mistakes” and disagreeing with the notion that prophets must be from urban backgrounds. Furthermore, he used different proofs for the validation of prophethood and included criticism of the Ḥashwiyya sect in his struggle against opponents of prophethood, which marks another distinction from Māturīdī’s approach.

We compared the stability of three different titanium plate-and-screw fixation systems after Le Fort I osteotomy in polyurethane models of unilateral clefts. Thirty-six models were divided into 3 groups. In the first group, we adapted standard Plates 1 mm thick with 2.0 mm screws and placed them bilaterally on the zygomatic buttress and the piriform rim. In the second group, we did the same and added Plates 0.6 mm thick with 1.6 mm screws between the standard 2 mm miniplates on both sides. In the last group, we placed Plates 1.4 mm thick with 2.0 mm screws bilaterally on the maxillary zygomatic buttress and piriform rim. Each group was tested in the inferosuperior (IS) and anteroposterior (AP) directions with a servo-hydraulic testing unit. In the IS direction, displacement values were not significantly different up to 80 N, but between 80 and 210 N, those in the 2 x 1.4 mm group were better. In the AP direction, displacement values were not significantly different up to 40 N, but between 40 and 180 N, they were better in the standard with 1.6 x 0.6 mm group and the 2 x 1.4 mm group. When normal biting forces (90- 260 N) in the postoperative period are considered, the greatest resistance to occlusal loads was seen in the 2 x 1.4 mm group. In the others, the biomechanical properties were better in the AP direction. (C) 2016 The British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Modernity's side effects: Boredom and psychopathology in J. G. Ballard's cocaine nights

    No full text
James Graham Ballard stands out as a speculative author, sometimes also classified as a science fiction author, who distorts the quotidian scenes from his own and the reader’s environment and uses them as raw material for his dystopic scenarios. The settings he chooses for his works are usually theme parks, luxury residences, highways, shopping malls and holiday resorts which are spaces that popped out and proliferated in number especially after the Second World War. Written in 1966, Cocaine Nights sustains the Ballardian tradition in which the spaces of the new middle class are dystopified. Converging with the detective fiction tradition, Cocaine Nights presents a distorted image of the holiday resorts to the reader. The novel deals with a holiday resort rife with lawlessness and psychopathological behaviour in the south of Spain. Charles Prentice, who arrives in the region after learning that his brother has been arrested for arson and murder, aims to solve the mystery, only to find that there is a logic of lawlessness governing the life in the holiday resort. The kind of community in question is quite “Ballardian” in that it consists of an affluent milieu of society who casts aside the issues of survival and has nothing to do. This paper aims to examine the effects of financial affluence and boredom on the lawlessness presented in Cocaine Nights
