This study aims to determine contraceptive intentions of pregnant women in the third trimester. This cross-sectional study was conducted at a training and research hospital in Mardin province between March 2023 and May 2023. In total, 253 pregnant women who had the ability to communicate in Turkish and agreed to participate were included in the study. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a survey and the Contraceptive Intent Questionnaire (CIQ). The average age of the participants was 28.87 ± 5.35 with 30.8% of them holding a secondary school degree. It was found that there was a statistically significant difference in terms of CIQ score between categories of the following descriptive variables: education level, husband's/partner's education level, fertility plan, receiving family planning counseling during pregnancy, and paying for the contraceptive methods used (P = .046, P = .013, P < .001, P = .008, and P < .001 respectively). It was determined that pregnant women who had not received family planning counseling during pregnancy and paid for the contraceptive method had higher contraception intention

Semiotics and political discourse in the post-truth era

    No full text
The concept of post-truth has been on the world’s agenda since 2016. Perhaps this concept, which is frequently encountered in political life, provides the speaker with a freer speaking platform. Politicians, instead of presenting the reality to their constituents as it is, want to reshape this reality according to their own ideology and present it to the recipient. Politicians have certain objectives in creating such a virtual reality. These aims can be listed as keeping the voters, increasing the voting potential, and attracting undecided voters to their favor. The common result of all these aims is to gain political power or to remain in the existing power. Post-truth reality is constructed relatively more easily in social media environments. The construction of reality can be through beliefs or emotions. In such ways, the recipient is tried to be persuaded, and thus behavioral change is achieved. One of the most necessary subjects for this artificial reality atmosphere is the anti-subject. The idea that the anti-subject does not know the truth that we (you and I) know and believe and is trying to destroy it is the main theme of post-truth discourse. Politicians try to persuade the voters to believe in their own truth by expressing this idea to them. There are many examples of this around the world. In this study, firstly, the concept of post-truth is examined and its various definitions are discussed. The distinctions between the concepts of real and truth are analyzed and then it is explained how and for what purposes the concept of post-truth is used in politics. Following the comparison of post-truth and fake news, the concept is discussed within the framework of sender-receiver interaction in terms of communication. The concept is tried to be elucidated with the modalities such as /convincing/, /believing/, /being/, /appearing/. Besides, using the semiotic square, the study also tries to reveal the different purposes and forms of use of the concept of post-truth. As a result, it has been observed that the concept of post-truth is effective in many areas of contemporary societies, and rather than real information, expected and desired information has become more important

Ev jî nîşanî me dide ku kesayet û cih du diyar-deyên pîroz û pêbawer in ji bo Kurdên li herêma Hezexê

A comparative approach to using photogrammetry in the structural analysis of historical buildings

    No full text
Finite element method (FEM) provides the numerically solving differential equations arising in engineering and mathematical modeling of physical systems. This process begins by determining the assignment of a theoretical node. A node is a single point on a frame, shell, or solid element and each element can be programmed with its location's material and structural data. Programming with the FEM is quite time-consuming for complex geometry such as historical buildings. This study aims to examine a low-cost and time-saving technology to build a FEM model using photogrammetry. In accordance with this aim, classical modeling techniques and photogrammetric modeling techniques were discussed. The results demonstrated that similar values were revealed in stress and deformation values. Consequently, the study emphasizes the potential of photogrammetry technology as an integrated approach for bringing together the disciplines of architecture and engineering that usually require two distinct expertise in analysing the structural behavior of historical buildings

Effect of economic policy uncertainty on CO2 with the discrimination of renewable and non renewable energy consumption

    No full text
The link between policy-related economic uncertainty and the environment has a new and developing literature. In this study, the effects of economic policy uncertainty, energy consumption and economic growth on pollution in G7 countries are investigated by using methods of moments quantile regression over the perod of 1995–2018. According to the long run coefficient estimation results, in the model in which the fossil fuel energy consumption variable is used as an energy consumption indicator, economic policy uncertainty has a reducing effect on emissions at all quantile levels. Although this negative effect becomes more pronounced as the quantile level increases, it is statistically insignificant at the 0.90 quantile level. In the model that includes fossil fuel energy consumption, the coefficient of economic policy uncertainty variable is negative in all quantiles and is significant only at the 0.30 and 0.40 quantile levels. In addition, while a U-shaped relationship is detected between economic growth and emissions in these countries, the destroying effect of fossil fuel energy on environmental quality is confirmed in all quantiles. Thus, it should be a priority to support the developments in growth performance with environmental regulations, encourage energy-saving and energy-efficient practices as well as to establish the legal infrastructure

Reflections of Some Animal Figures on Turkish Arts

The depiction of animal figures, whether made for art or not, has a history dating back tens of thousands of years. When these depictions are traced, sometimes the same styles of descriptions are made in wide geographies, and sometimes there are minor differences in styles due to the change of belief systems. In this study, which will focus on the common and divergent points in the depictions, it is also aimed to make sense of the figures with symbolism. With the change of belief systems, geographies and time, there are no significant differences in the styles and meanings of these animal figures. The productions representing the Scythian, Hun and Uyghur art represent the pre-Islamic Turkish art of this research, while the examples of the productions from the Seljuks, Artuqids, Aydınoğulları Principality, Ottoman and Republican periods represent the Islamic period of Turkish art. Animal figures of pre-Islamic Turkish art and Islamic period Turkish art developed within a certain system, and mostly the same animals were given the same meanings. It is interesting to note how a person who depicts an animal on a cave wall, a metal object, an architectural structure, or embroiders it on a textile chooses an animal. It is a known situation that there was a very strong relationship between man and nature in the periods when the monotheistic religions had not yet emerged, and that at the points where the human mind and power were insufficient, he ascribed meanings to some living things and produced solutions in this way for the cases for which he could not find an answer

Efsane yek ji berhemên devkî yê gelêrî ye. Gelek pênaseyên efsaneyan hene û gava mirov li van pênaseyan dinêre, mirov giştî van taybetîyên efsaneyan dibîne: Efsane dikarin di demeka dûr da an demeka nêzîk da biqewimin; di gel ku bûyerên efsûnî tê da hene, ji hêla civakê ve rast tên qebûlkirin; Efsane dikarin li ser kesan, cihan, xweda û xwedawendayan bin; Efsane wekî bersiva pirsekê an çareserîya pirsgirêkekê ne. Ef-sane heta sedsala 19. di nava cureyên din ên vegotinên gelêrî, wekî cureyekî serbixwe nehatîye lê efsaneyan hertim di jîyana mirovan da cih girtîye. Lewra cihê ku mirov lê dijîn hertim hewcedarî ji bersiva pirs û meraqên li ser kevirekî, çîyayekî, dareka eceb, nexweşîyekê û bûyereka efsûnî hwd. çê dibe. Ev bersiv jî efsaneyan diafirînin. Wekî her civakê, li Gundê Seletê jî efsane hene ku mirov jê bawer dikin. Gava ku hewce dike kesên ku bi efsaneyan dizanin wan li derdora xwe belav dikin. Di vê xebatê da 21 efsaneyên Gundê Seleta Jorîn hatine tomarkirin, dabeşkirin û senifandin
