This thesis aims to enhance the current pricing policies set to optimize customer retention by proposing enhanced methodologies, focusing on finding efficient algorithms that apply to large-scale businesses. Customer retention studies have a vital effect on companies since they affect the generated revenue and market share. This study mainly investigates pricing factors and their relationship with customer churn. The aim is to find commission rates that will be used to charge merchants when making transactions with Point of Sale (POS) devices. An important aspect to remember is the price sensitivity of those merchants as there happens to be a negative relationship between their retention, and pricing policies. We designed a nonlinear mathematical model to solve this problem. However, solving nonlinear models for large-scale prob lems is not effective when computational power and current solving techniques are considered. As an approach to solving this phenomenon, we discretized the nonlin ear form of the model and proposed an alternative integer programming model. By doing so, solvers used to optimize the integer programming models were able to solve higher scales of the problem when compared with global nonlinear solvers. However, it is observed that IP solvers fail to solve the proposed mathematical model after a certain size. To solve this dimensionality problem, stratification techniques are used to divide the problem and optimize subparts of the whole problem separately while limitations and the objective of the problem are considered.Bu tez projesinde fiyatlandırma prosed¨ur¨u ¨uzerinde geli¸stirmeler yapılarak, m¨u¸steri tutundurma optimizasyonu ¨uzerinde ¸calı¸smalar yapılmı¸s ve geli¸stirilen algoritmaların b¨uy¨uk kitleler ¨uzerinde uygulanabilirli˘gi dikkate alınmı¸stır. This thesis addresses the problem of Multi-Agent Path Finding problem where multiple agents aim to reach their destination in a grid world without any colli sion. It aims to provide a solution achieving good trade-off between the privacy of the agents and the effectiveness of solutions. Accordingly, a token-based bilateral negotiation approach is presented to solve this problem in a distributed way. The proposed approach is evaluated empirically in various scenarios by comparing it with state-of-the-art centralized approaches such as Conflict Based Search and its variants. The experimental results showed that the proposed approach can find conflict-free path solutions albeit suboptimally, especially when the search space is large and high-density, whereas centralized approaches struggle to find optimal solutions. Despite being outperformed by suboptimal centralized solvers, the pro posed decentralized approach can achieve considerable results with naive agents by sharing minimal information about themselves. The proposed approach also enables agents to have their autonomy; thus, the proposed approach is convenient for MAPF problems involving self-interested agents. Teorik ve deneysel sonuçlar arasındaki uygunluk oldukça iyidir.ABSTRACT Rice constitutes a major part of the World food supply. The rice grain is harvested at a high moisture content and it must be properly dried soon after separation from the parent print. The aim of the drying is to preserve the product by creating an environment which is unfavorable to the growth and development of insects and microflora. Driers for rough rice are usually based on a drying process consists of a forced convection of warm air. In this study, drying of multi-layer rough rice was experimentally and theoretically investigated. The experiment were carried out with simples of rocco type rough rice having an initial moisture content of 24% with respect I > the dry basis. The stacks of rough rice of 10 cm, 20 cm and 30 cm height were dried with air at 40°C, 50°C and 60°C temperature. The average velocity of air through the slacks was kept at 1.5 m/s. A single layer of rough rice was also dried under the same c onditions for comparison. An analytical solution of the unsteady diffusion equation based on Fick' s law obtained by Ece and Cihan (1993) was used as theoretical drying Model. In this model, rice grain was considered as a finite cylinder and a homogeneous Matter. Diffusion coefficient was considered as depending on the drying temperature and the stack height to be able to represent multi-layer rough rice drying. Values of the effective diffusion coefficient were determined by minimizing the sum of the squared differences between the analytical solution and the experimental data, and a correlation i n terms of the temperature and the stack height was developed. Aggrement between the theoretical and experimental results are very good

Topology design for group consensus in directed multi-agent systems

summary:In this paper, we investigate the grouping behavior of multi-agent systems by exploiting the graph structure. We propose a novel algorithm for designing a network from scratch which yields the desired grouping in a network of agents utilizing a consensus-based algorithm. The proposed algorithm is shown to be optimal in the sense that it consists of the minimum number of links. Furthermore, we examine the effect of adding new vertices and edges to the network on the number of groups formed in the group consensus problem. These results can be further utilized by the network topology designer to restructure the network and achieve the desired grouping. Theoretical results are illustrated with simulation examples

Structural evolution, mechanical, electronic and vibrational properties of high capacity hydrogen storage TiH4

    No full text
Titanium tetra hydride is considered for hydrogen storage purposes. Firstly, formation energy, hydrogen desorption temperature and gravimetric hydrogen density of TiH4 is computed. Secondly, an ab initio constant pressure molecular dynamic simulation under pressure is performed to reveal behaviour of TiH4 for the first time. The result exhibits two phase transitions successively. C2/m phase of TiH4 transforms into C2/c phase at 40 GPa simulation pressure. Then, elastic constants of phases are determined to examine mechanical stability of phases. Based on the evolution of elastic constants, it is found that C2/m phase fulfils Born stability criteria for a monoclinic structure, indicating that C2/m phase is mechanically stable whereas C2/c phase is not mechanically stable. Additionally, several critical parameters which are important for hydrogen storage such as brittleness and ductility, Young and Shear modulus are obtained and analysed. In addition, electronic structures of phases are calculated and evaluated. Finally, dynamic stability from phonon dispersion curves is examined. C2/m phase is also found to be dynamically stable. © 2020 Hydrogen Energy Publications LL

Measurement of the ratio of prompt χ c to J / ψ production in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

    No full text
    The prompt production of charmonium χ c and J / ψ states is studied in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The χ c and J / ψ mesons are identified through their decays χ c → J / ψ γ and J / ψ → μ + μ - using 36 pb - 1 of data collected by the LHCb detector in 2010. The ratio of the prompt production cross-sections for χ c and J / ψ, σ (χ c → J / ψ γ) / σ (J / ψ), is determined as a function of the J / ψ transverse momentum in the range 2 < p T J / ψ < 15 GeV / c. The results are in excellent agreement with next-to-leading order non-relativistic expectations and show a significant discrepancy compared with the colour singlet model prediction at leading order, especially in the low p T J / ψ region
