Primary ionization and energy loss calculation for helium, neon, argon and krypton
We performed a calculation of the energy loss dE/dx and the primary ionization density dN/dx for a charged heavy particle crossing a gas volume as a function of the particle beta. We start from the Maxwell equation and using the experimental values of the photo-absorption cross section, we take into account the different material properties. Our calculation of dE/dx is in excellent agreement with the Bethe-Bloch function and in the case of dN/dx we found a relativistic rise and a good agreement with the primary ionization experimental data we compare. We consider the possibility to use primary ionization measure to make the particle identification in the large tracking chambers. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
La paléographie des sources juridiques
This text explores the development, characteristics, and significance of paleography in studying legal sources.
It emphasizes the critical role of writing systems, abbreviations, and manuscript traditions in understanding medieval legal texts
Les Constitutiones Regni Siciliae: le Liber Augustalis
This chapter examines Le Liber Augustalis, a pivotal legislative text issued by Frederick II in 1231 for the Kingdom of Sicily. It explores the text’s historical context, legislative framework, and its enduring influence on the evolution of legal systems. As a cornerstone of medieval legal culture, the Liber Augustalis showcases Frederick II’s vision of centralized governance, legal innovation, and the integration of diverse cultural and juridical traditions
Particle identification using cluster counting in a large drift chamber for normal conditions
Results on particle identification obtained measuring the primary ionization in a drift chamber operating in a mixture He 804.014477nfo/METH/sub 4/ 20at normal conditions are presented. The data, collected at CERN (PS T9 beam), indicate that the cluster-counting technique allows a substantial improvement with respect to the more traditional measurements. pi /K separation of approximately=3.6 sigma at 4 GeV was obtained over the entire volume of the chamber: 144 (3*3) cm/sup 2/ cells with an average track path length of 120 cm.
Fil: Cerrito, Federico. Probing CPT invariance with top quarks at the LHC
The first model-independent sensitivity to CPT violation in the top-quark sector is extracted from ATLAS and CMS measurements of the top and antitop kinematical mass difference. We find that the temporal component of a CPT-violating background field interacting with the top-quark vector current is restricted within the interval GeV at 95% confidence level
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
