Hashimoto’s encephalopathy in a patient with septal panniculitis: a case report
No full textHashimoto’s encephalopathy (HE) is an autoimmune form of encephalopathy, associated with autoimmune thyroiditis. Its prevalence is estimated to be 2:100,000. HE is characterized by behavioral changes, mental confusion, dysarthria, ataxia, psychosis, paranoia, convulsions, hallucinations, headache and hyperthermia. Elevated thyroid antibodies are necessary for diagnosis and the disease responds dramatically to glucocorticoid therapy. We describe a patient with HE and panniculitis, an association reported twice in the literature

Masificación y exclusión en el sistema educativo : Chile y Argentina en perspectiva comparada
No full textDurante mucho tiempo se consideró que la masificación de la educación contribuiría a reducir las desigualdades educativas, apoyándose en el principio de igualdad de oportunidades. Lejos de asumir dicha afirmación, esta investigación estudia el proceso de masificación llevado a cabo en los sistemas educativos de Chile y Argentina; para ello se realiza una descripción y desarrollo de los procesos educativos en ambos países, analizando el contexto de las políticas neoliberales. Se sostiene que la masificación y ?democratización? de dichos sistemas educativos va acompañada de mecanismos de selección por exclusión, lo cual se pretende demostrar a través de indicadores, como son la tasa de sobreedad y la tasa de deserción en la trayectoria del sistema educativo. Tras este análisis se demuestra que los sistemas educativos se desempeñan como instituciones activas en el modelo de exclusión del neoliberalismo, a través de sus propios mecanismos de selección. The value of informational arbitrage
No full textIn the context of a general semimartingale model, we aim at determining how much an investor is willing to pay to learn additional information that allows achieving arbitrage. If such a value exists, we call it the value of informational arbitrage. We are interested in the case where the information yields arbitrage opportunities but not unbounded profits with bounded risk. As in Amendinger et al. (Finance Stoch. 7:29–46, 2003), we rely on an indifference valuation approach and study optimal consumption–investment problems under initial information and arbitrage. We establish some new results on models with additional information and characterise when the value of informational arbitrage is universal
“Dialogue between Translators and Authors. The Example of Claudio Magris”
No full textThe paper focuses on the forms of cooperation between authors and their translator(s) in all cases in which the two operate simultaneously. This issue is explored on the example of the Trieste-born author Claudio Magris, who cultivates a very close relationship with most of his translators.
Writing and translation have been coexisting in this author throughout his career and have resulted in the heightened sensitivity of Magris the author with regards to translation, as the first part of the analysis shows. The second part describes the dialogue between Magris and the translators of his works, and ends with the more general question of the significance and role of such a form of exchange

No full textThe purpose of this paper is to study the poetics of Claudio Rodríguez, delimiting its components and trying to clarify them and to present them as a whole. The author left some pages written on his conception of poetry that encourage reflection and, in some cases, interpretation. So with his conception of poetry as a gift and inebriation, as an alliance and condemnation or celebration (giving title to his collections of poems), or with notions such as «participation», «living contemplation», «living expression » or «personal rhythm» that make up his way of understanding the poetic process.El propósito de este artículo es estudiar la poética de Claudio Rodríguez, deslindando sus componentes y tratando de clarificarlos y presentarlos en su conjunto. El autor dejó escritas algunas páginas sobre su concepción de la poesía que animan a la reflexión y, en algunos casos, a la interpretación. Así sucede con su concepción de la poesía como un don y una ebriedad, como alianza y condena o como celebración (que dan título a sus poemarios), o con nociones como las de «participación», «contemplación viva», «expresión viva» o «ritmo personal», que configuran su forma de entender el proceso poético
Optimal investment with intermediate consumption under no unbounded profit with bounded risk
No full textWe consider the problem of optimal investment with intermediate consumption in a general semimartingale model of an incomplete market, with preferences being represented by a utility stochastic field. We show that the key conclusions of the utility maximization theory hold under the assumptions of no unbounded profit with bounded risk and of the finiteness of both primal and dual value functions.
