Role of microRNAs in Osteosarcopenic Obesity/Adiposity: A Scoping Review
No full textBackground: Osteosarcopenic obesity (OSO) syndrome, also defined as osteosarcopenic adiposity (OSA), is characterized by the concurrent loss of bone and muscle mass, accompanied by excess fat, leading to reduced functionality and metabolic imbalances. Recent studies have highlighted the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the pathophysiology of OSO/OSA, showing differential expression in individuals with osteosarcopenia and obesity. However, a thorough investigation in this area has been limited. Methods: A comprehensive search of international bibliographic databases, including Embase, PubMed and Scopus, was conducted. Results: From an initial search yielding 1311 records, 19 studies met the eligibility criteria for final evaluation. These findings highlight how physical exercise and nutritional factors can influence miRNA expression, emphasizing their role in promoting better health outcomes in aging populations. Furthermore, the critical role of miRNAs as indicators of muscle atrophy and the biological processes associated with aging and sarcopenia have been documented in various animal studies. Conclusions: Despite the limitations of this review, the findings indicate that miRNAs could serve as promising biomarkers and therapeutic targets for managing OSO/OSA. These results suggest that targeted interventions, such as resistance training and lifelong exercise, may effectively influence miRNA expression, potentially alleviating the impacts of OSO/OSA
Da tinta ao braile: o que acontece na mudança de registro de uma atividade matemática
No full textO presente artigo cogita divulgar parcialmente os resultados da pesquisa de mestrado cujo objetivo foi analisar o que acontece na troca de registro de representação ao se fazer a conversão da tinta ao braile nas atividades matemáticas para o aluno cego. Nesta pesquisa se analisaram sete atividades matemáticas do Caderno do Aluno da Proposta Curricular do estado de São Paulo elaborado em tinta e transcrito para o braile. Na referida transição, acontece uma troca de registro de representação semiótica, mas o que acontece nessa troca? Tem alguma mudança no sentido da atividade? Existe alguma omissão ou adição de palavras, símbolos ou signos que afetassem a compreensão da atividade? O presente documento, recorte de uma pesquisa maior, planeja mostrar a análise de uma atividade desse Caderno transcrita da tinta ao braile e responder às questões apresentadas, tendo como aporte a teoria dos registros de representação semiótica de Raymond Duval. A pesquisa foi de cunho qualitativo, e o método escolhido foi a análise de conteúdo. Dentre as conclusões se tem que as atividades matemáticas passadas da tinta para o braile nem sempre são equivalentes, pois unidades significantes são alteradas, o que pode modificar o seu sentido
Registros de Representação Semiótica, braile e Educação Matemática Inclusiva: identificando possibilidades
No full textEste artigo relata a etapa inicial de pesquisa em andamento com a intenção de investigar as possibilidades inclusivas e de aprendizagem de uma sequência didática sobre função afim, sustentada na Teoria dos Registros de Representação Semiótica, em que procedimentos e representações gráficas são descritos em língua natural (oral ou escrita) por duplas de alunos do 2º ano do Ensino Médio, em que uma das alunas possui baixa visão grave. Desse modo, estabelecemos como objetivo principal para o presente manuscrito analisar se e como são apresentados em braile os diferentes tipos de registros de representação semiótica, seus possíveis tratamentos e conversões. Para isso, analisamos um livro didático em braile e seu correspondente em tinta acerca do tema Função Exponencial. A constatação da presença desses elementos respalda possíveis análises futuras de produções em braile, à luz da Teoria de Registros de Representação Semiótica, sem o apoio da produção em tinta
Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textO trabalho apresenta uma visão da real condição do Setor Braile da Biblioteca Pública do Estado da Bahia, tendo como base de estudo o Projeto de Lei 13.575/2003, verificando os serviços oferecidos aos cidadãos com deficiências visuais. Se o setor está adequado as novas tecnologias da informação, com acervos especiais e computadores equipados com o sistema DOSVOX, e de que forma vem contribuindo para inclusão social desses deficientes. Observando quais as dificuldades para se adequar ao Projeto de Lei, se já fazem uso das novas tecnologias e dos recursos oferecidos pelo Centro de Apoio Pedagógico – CAP, que imprime textos digitados no word, no formato braile, e como funciona as salas de ledores. Aborda também a questão da qualificação do profissional que presta serviços a esta clientela especial, enfatizando a importância de se ter profissionais capacitados e habilitados para que os serviços oferecidos sejam adequados e bem utilizados pela clientela a que se destina
Late outcome analysis of the Braile Biomédica® pericardial valve in the aortic position
No full textObjective: Aortic valve replacement with Braile bovine pericardial prosthesis has been routinely done at the Heart Institute of the Universidade de São Paulo Medical School since 2006. The objective of this study is to analyze the results of Braile Biomédica® aortic bioprosthesis in patients with aortic valve disease. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 196 patients with aortic valve disease submitted to aortic valve replacement with Braile Biomédica® bovine pericardial prosthesis, between 2006 and 2010. Mean age was 59.41±16.34 years and 67.3% were male. Before surgery, 73.4% of patients were in NYHA functional class III or IV. Results: Hospital mortality was 8.16% (16 patients). Linearized rates of mortality, endocarditis, reintervention, and structural dysfunction were 1.065%, 0.91%, 0.68% and 0.075% patients/year, respectively. Actuarial survival was 90.59±2.56% in 88 months. Freedom from reintervention, endocarditis and structural dysfunction was respectively 91.38±2.79%, 89.84±2.92% and 98.57±0.72% in 88 months. Conclusion: The Braile Biomédica® pericardial aortic valve prosthesis demonstrated actuarial survival and durability similar to that described in the literature, but further follow up is required to assess the incidence of prosthetic valve endocarditis and structural dysfunction in the future
