Roberto Gerhard’s Sound Compositions: A Historical-Philological Perspective. Archive, Process, Intent and reenactment
This research advances the current state of knowledge in the field of early tape music both empirically and methodologically. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact that the electronic medium exerted in the musical thinking of Roberto Gerhard, one of the most outspoken, prolific and influential composers in the Spanish diaspora whose musical legacy, for the most part unknown, is a major landmark in the early history of electroacoustic music. Gerhard’s personal tape collection, one of the largest historical archives of its kind reported in the literature, is exceptional for both its antiquity (50+-year-old tapes) and its abundance of production materials. Through the digitisation and analysis of the composer’s tape collection this research argues that the empirical study of audio documents sets out a basis for a broader understanding of textual processes. More specifically, the research demonstrates that the reconstruction of works based on magnetic tape sketches is a powerful method to advance the understanding of early tape music. This research also examines Gerhard’s sound compositions in relation to the post-war context in which they were composed. Finally, this research presents performance documentation that proposes an approach to the electroacoustic music repertoire in which creativity is not at odds with rigor and critical discernment demonstrating that archival study can be closely aligned to the concept of re-enactment
Dramske osebe in njihove medsebojne odnose analiziramo s pomočjo Lacanove teorije o subjektu in Drugem. Pri tem se osredotočamo na željo, ki konstituira subjekt in mu hkrati povzroča trpljenje v večnem lovljenju izmuzljive sreče.In this seminar paper we analyse the play Roberto Zucco, written by Bernard-Marie Koltès. The analyse is based on the theory of restoration of a language and consequently the author. Furthermore, we show a break with the post dramatic theatre established by Hans Thies Lehmann and the resurrection of structure and order in the text. The starting point for the analyse of dramatic text is postsemiotic theory by Anne Ubersfeld and Patrice Pavis. The analyse of the subjects is based on the Lacanian theory of the subject birth and the Other. We focus on the desire, which simultaneously constitutes the subject and it cause suffering to him in the endless chasing of the evasive luck
Lisbon 'Fado': the European Union under reform.
To address the uncertainties surrounding the
Treaty of Lisbon, this book examines several issues
from various angles. Regardless of the results
of the second referendum in Ireland and the
pending ratifications in Poland, the Czech
Republic and Germany, the European Union (EU)
will not be the same after the Lisbon Treaty.
If it comes into effect, Europeans will enter into
a new stage in the deepening of the integration
process; if it is rejected, the first decade
of the 21st Century will represent a period of
institutional stagnation in Europe’s integration.
Nonetheless, the chapters in this book share the
consensus that, despite its limitations,
the Lisbon Treaty will make the EU decision
making process more efficient, enhance regional
democracy and strengthenits international voice
Performance Indicators of Electricity Generation at Country Level—The Case of Italy
Power Grids face significant variability in their operation, especially where there are high proportions of non-programmable renewable energy sources constituting the electricity mix. An accurate and up-to-date knowledge of operational data is essential to guaranteeing the optimal management of the network, and this aspect will be even more crucial for the full deployment of Smart Grids. This work presents a data analysis of the electricity production at the country level, by considering some performance indicators based on primary energy consumption, the share of renewable energy sources, and CO2 emissions. The results show a significant variability of the indicators, highlighting the need of an accurate knowledge of operational parameters as a support for future Smart Grid management algorithms based on multi-objective optimization of power generation. The renewable share of electricity production has a positive impact, both on the primary energy factor and on the CO2 emission factor. However, a strong increase of the renewable share requires that the supply/demand mismatching issues be dealt with through appropriate measures
Hišna imena v Zgornji Terski dolini
House names are interesting proof of the endemic naming system used by the Slovenes of the Ter region, while surname forms have long been ifluenced by Italian. In the article, the author presents the male and female suffix endings in which the influence of the roman linguistic or cultural world can be seen. A comparison of surnames with Ter house names in Slovene, Croatian, Italian and Furlan territories also show that forms often match
The deconstruction of politics in Roberto Esposito
(Texto tomado de la fuente).Taking in consideration the six central texts of Roberto Esposito's work, from which its main elements are collected, this work focuses on clarifying the direction that the author follows in his deconstructive itinerary. Likewise, this work also focuses on deciphering the connection between the main political categories that he works with –impolitical, communitas, immunity, biopolitics and impersonal– and on unmasking a hidden logic, which can be found in the depths of the political. This enables to elucidate that a disposition towards closure has been accentuated upon the political lexicon and dispositions, which can be counteracted by pushing the horizon of politics to a broader perspective.MaestríaMagíster en FilosofíaFilosofía PolíticaFilosofía Hermenéutic
Measurement of b-hadron masses
Measurements of b-hadron masses are performed with the exclusive decay modes B +→J/ψK +, B 0→J/ψK +, B0→J/ψKS0, Bs0→J/ψφ and Λb0→J/ψΛ using an integrated luminosity of 35pb -1 collected in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV by the LHCb experiment. The momentum scale is calibrated with J/ψ→μ +μ - decays and verified to be known to a relative precision of 2 ×10 -4 using other two-body decays. The results are more precise than previous measurements, particularly in the case of the Bs0 and Λb0 masses
Why Should Regional Agricultural Productivity Growth Converge? Evidence from Italian Regions
The paper analyses agricultural TFP growth across Italian regions during the 1952-2002 period, and aims at identifying those factors that favour or hinder regional agricultural TFP growth convergence. Of major relevance is whether regions, despite their inescapable heterogeneity, tend to share common technological improvements, that is, to move along the same productivity growth rate. TFP growth decomposition ultimately allows attributing observed productivity performance to convergence and divergence forces. Appropriate testing and estimation procedures are adopted to take into account panel unit-root issues and cross-sectional dependence.TFP growth, Convergence, Panel Data, Productivity Analysis,
We are mock'd with art: theatricalizing devices in performances of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale
Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras/Inglês e Literatura Correspondente, Florianópolis, 2011This dissertation discusses the use of theatricalizing devices in four stage productions of William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. The selected performances were staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company (England, 1992), Théâtre de la Complicité (England, 1992), Folger Theatre (United States, 2009), and Companhia Atores de Laura (Brazil, 2004-2005). The discussion is structured following the notion of "performance text", proposed by Marco de Marinis (1993), which testifies to the importance of analyzing a performance in terms of its stage elements and also its contextual circumstances. Hence, the notion of "theatricalizing devices" is proposed in the present study as a tool to look at those devices employed on stage that can, simultaneously, comment on the theatrical medium and its conventions and help a production address themes and concerns related to the world outside the theater building. Additionally, the referred devices have to do with further fictionalizing the already fictional stage reality, without losing sight of the fact that those making and attending any given performance are inserted in an outside context.
