The main purpose of the research is to understand the sense of orphanhood in the university education. It is based on the detection of a series of vignettes or brief scenes in which the teaching and its actors meet a student who seems to have let go of the traditional logics of the transmission of knowledge. To adddress this complexity a conceptual framework based on three key notions is proposed transmission, genealogy and filiation, which is why a dialogue between authors from philosophy and psychoanalysis is attempted. What does it mean to be an orphan in college? Who occupies that role? Who abandons the paternal role thus gestating an orphan?. These questions motivate the journey through the work of Pierre Legendre an author who is key to return to the notion of transmission, a binding dimension of the transfer of the law from one generation to another

[EN] The study of narrative Graciela Montes (1947 ) from an analysis of narratology is one of the primary objectives of this work, show its position committed to the society of his time with the tragic history of his country is another objective which aims to highlight the social and political criticism involved the work of this author . A third objective would be to place the narrative of Argentina writer within a corpus of Children's Literature employing social criticism ,irony ,play and fantasy

Childhood in the works of Silvina Ocampo and Alejandra Pizarnik

This thesis explores childhood as theme and perspective in the Argentine cuentista and poet Silvina Ocampo (1903-1993) and traces this thematic and vital link to the Argentine poet Alejandra Pizamik (1936-1972). The study looks at childhood not only in relation to their literary texts but also in the writers' construction of self-identity within their socio-literary context, and at the role played by visual art in their aesthetic. Chapter 1 contrasts Silvina with her elder sister Victoria Ocampo through their differing literary appropriation of a shared childhood. It distinguishes Ocampo from Adolfo Bioy Casares and Jorge Luis Borges in terms of her fictional logic and her treatment of games, drawing comparisons instead with Julio Cortdzar. Chapter 2 undertakes close reading of various Ocampo texts, including some for children, in order to explore her vision of childhood through nostalgia, adult-child power relationships, aging and rejuvenation, and moments of initiation or imitation. Chapter 3 turns to Pizarnik and the myth of the child-poet. It analyses her child personae through Andre Breton's Surrealism, Jean Cocteau and Octavio Paz, through her borrowings from Alice in Wonderland and Nadja, and through her obsession with madness, death, orphanhood, violation and transgression. Chapter 4 is comparative. It outlines the context in which Ocampo and Pizamik's passionate friendship developed, and considers Pizamik's essay on Elpecado mortal. It then explores their broad mutual literary and thematic affinities. My conclusion is that Ocampo's works achieve equilibrium between childhood and age, whereas Pizarnik's much-discussed poetic crisis of exile from language itself parallels her deep sense of anxiety at being exiled from the world of childhood. This thesis contributes to the study of Argentine literature by drawing revealing comparisons between two key writers through their shared obsession with childhood, arguing that an understanding of their attitudes to childhood is fundamental to appreciating fully their work. I refer to unpublished letters of Ocampo, material from private interviews, photographs and relevant paintings by Leonor Fini, Alicia Carletti and others

Expression of MicroRNAs in Periodontal Disease: A Systematic Review

    No full text
Introduction. Periodontal disease (PD) is a chronic inflammation of the soft tissues that support the structure of the tooth, and miRNAs are highly dynamic molecules that participate in the regulation of gene expression interfering with multiple genetic targets. The dysregulation of the expression of miRNAs has been associated with different types of pathologies; therefore, they are excellent molecules to be studied as biomarkers. Material and Methods. A search was made in the electronic databases of PubMed, Scopus, and Science Direct. The following key words were used: “microRNAs,” “miRNAs,” “periodontal disease,” “periodontitis,” and “biomarker”; employee independent search strategies with the Boolean operators “OR” and “AND”; a further search of the references of the selected studies was performed to detect potential studies that met the selection criteria. The data recollected from each article were author, country, year of publication, sample size, type of sample used to identify miRNAs, methodology used to identify miRNAs, type of periodontal disease, and miRNAs identified. Results. Of the 13 selected studies, 6 used gingival tissue as a sample for the identification of miRNAs, 3 used gingival fluid, 2 used saliva, 1 used serum, and another used periodontal tissue. Chronic periodontitis was the most studied periodontal disease in 9 of the 13 selected articles; 7 used microarrays as the main technique for the identification of miRNAs. qRT-PCR was the assay choice to validate the identified miRNAs. Conclusion. The main type of periodontal disease on which most studies are focused is chronic periodontitis, with the main miRNAs being hsa-miR-146a, hsa-miR-146b, hsa-miR-155, and hsa-miR-200. This systematic review is one of the first to carry out an analysis of the current role of miRNAs in PD as biomarkers

The study \"Julio Ramon Ribeyro: the temptation of the word\" aims to examine five short stories of this Peruvian author (1929-1994), whose work stands out among the narrators of the 50s generation of that Andean country, extending to the mid 90s. Our hypothesis considers the ambiguous nature of his short stories, its classic way of work, but it brings tensions of the modern plot and dialogues with the conservative modernization process in Peru. In this sense, his literature includes, among other issues, the author\'s concern with respect to the contradictions of the city of Lima, and its characters which are viewers of this process, carrying the frustration and failure of their expectations as marks

    No full text
This dissertation aims to research the cinematographic work of the director / actor / writer José Mojica Marins, particularly in regard of the most emblematic character he created and played: the sadistic gravedigger called Coffin’ Joe. The analysis will cover, specifically, the feature film entitled "Ritual dos Sádicos" (or "The Awakening of the Beast"), produced in 1970, with distribution completely prohibited by the censorship organs of the military dictatorship prevailing in Brazil during the period. It will be highlighted the great popular reception that the character - and the films in which it appears - obtained during the years 1960-70, causing it to "spill" through other media: comic books, folklore fiction literature etc., in addition to the critical fortune that rejected the work of the filmmaker, mostly. The film will also be analyzed according to elements characteristic of the genre called film-essay, and using – as reference – studies carried out by, among others, Theodor W. Adorno and Timothy Corrigan. The main objectives are: to situate the film, in its formal elements and content, within the set of productions categorized as film-essay; to situate the film within the set of cinematographic productions made during the most repressive period of the Brazilian military dictatorship (1968-1975), productions that suffered state censorship and (or) promoted in their film discourse a critique of the current regime; to try tracing the genetic procedures of the film, particularly in regard of its essayistic aspect (with obvious political positions), since its author, until then, refused to make politicized films. This research will seek to demonstrate that the work of José Mojica Marins allegorically represents (from the concept of allegory in Walter Benjamin and other authors) - although not in a programmatic way - the institutional violence practiced by the Brazilian State during the military dictatorship, particularly in the forms of: 1. torture; 2. censorship applied to artistic-cultural manifestations.

Rudolf Walsh, the cryptographer: relationships between written and policy action in the work of Rudolf Walsh

    No full text
The present work is a study of Rodolfo Jorge Walsh\'s poetry. He was an author, a journalist and an activist. Also a translator, editor an author of police short stories. He knew how to transform the literary activity into an act of reflexion about the history of his country and the activist action itself. The writing procedures used inside his works searched not only for a persuasive efficiency, but also the efficiency in representing the problems faced by the author in his political action. They are object of study: the passage from police enigma to hard-boiled and the following desertion of the sub gender; the option for the brief form of the short story and not the novel; desertion of the writing strictly literary that would be taken up again in the last months of his life - processes that coincided with the development of State crime investigations and his participation in an activist life - and getting back the authorship, shortly before his death, into a production of personal letters in a dictatorship context that began in 1976 and the controversy of the author in relation to the direction of the Montoneros organization, for which he was an activist

Crime and literature transgressions: crime fiction in the works of Juan José Saer and Ricardo Piglia.

    No full text
This study aims to analyze the relations between crime fiction as a literary genre and the novels La pesquisa [The investigation] (1994), by Juan José Saer, and Plata quemada [Burnt money] (1997), by Ricardo Piglia. Inserted into their author´s unique and original poetics, both texts reflect, on the one hand, the narrative praxis that both Saer and Piglia had already been developing for several years when the books were published in the nineties. On the other hand, the reading of the novels from the perspective of crime fiction, a genre often associated with popular or mass literature, leads to the question of how is it possible to develop a more complex and ambitious writing, aesthetically speaking, in dialog with the conventions that, in principle, distinguish the literary genre. From this point on, the hypothesis of reading will focus on the concept of transgression in literature, as it is developed by Michel Foucault in his essay Prefacio a la transgresión [A Preface to Transgression]. Back to the way La pesquisa and Plata quemada are conceived, the transgression can be figured out as a gesture that, by crossing the genre limits, not only reconfigure the way the narrative of Saer and Piglia could be read, but also rethink the crime fiction as a genre and the relations of both authors with the cultural context in which they develop their works

Specific Arabidopsis thaliana malic enzyme isoforms can provide anaplerotic pyruvate carboxylation function in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

NAD(P)-malic enzyme (NAD(P)-ME) catalyzes the reversible oxidative decarboxylation of malate to pyruvate, CO2, and NAD(P)H and is present as a multigene family in Arabidopsis thaliana. The carboxylation reaction catalyzed by purified recombinant Arabidopsis NADP-ME proteins is faster than those reported for other animal or plant isoforms. In contrast, no carboxylation activity could be detected in vitro for the NAD-dependent counterparts. In order to further investigate their putative carboxylating role in vivo, Arabidopsis NAD(P)-ME isoforms, as well as the NADP-ME2del2 (with a decreased ability to carboxylate pyruvate) and NADP-ME2R115A (lacking fumarate activation) versions, were functionally expressed in the cytosol of pyruvate carboxylase-negative (Pyc−) Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains. The heterologous expression of NADP-ME1, NADP-ME2 (and its mutant proteins), and NADP-ME3 restored the growth of Pyc− S. cerevisiae on glucose, and this capacity was dependent on the availability of CO2. On the other hand, NADP-ME4, NAD-ME1, and NAD-ME2 could not rescue the Pyc− strains from C4 auxotrophy. NADP-ME carboxylation activity could be measured in leaf crude extracts of knockout and overexpressing Arabidopsis lines with modified levels of NADP-ME, where this activity was correlated with the amount of NADP-ME2 transcript. These results indicate that specific A. thaliana NADP-ME isoforms are able to play an anaplerotic role in vivo and provide a basis for the study on the carboxylating activity of NADP-ME, which may contribute to the synthesis of C4 compounds and redox shuttling in plant cells.Accepted Author Manuscript Title Manuscript differs from the publishers versionBT/Industriele Microbiologi
